No the US is not racist free - but is certainly more tolerable to live in (ie California) than most of the UK. By the way Clinton was the best President ever and he wasn't born with a silver spoon. Overall however I stand still by the fact the UK is still one of the most tolerante societies in the world and as someone living in the US you have less right to judge that yourself.

I was born and raised in the UK for the first 26 yrs of my life - so can make that judgement. I had some great Brit friends, but also had alot of bad experiences too. Yeah, whites also face racism - but the ethnic minorities are only 7-8% of the population (look at the furore that Big Brother has created recently). How often is a white person in NewCastle or Norwich going to face racism behavior??? Yes tolerant, but too soft on crime and anti-social behavior (which includes RACISM)!

Not quite, the US has 12.5% African Americans, 12.5 Latinos and a good measure of Asians. But yes the UK is alot better than it was when I was a kid gowing up. I hope we go forward. Last time I went to India in fact last month, I read in the paper for starters how they didn't even have anywhere near enough Ambulances in Delhi. Also whilst I was there I could hear the Indian Police shooting at bloody demostrators. India is no better off now, people still starve in the gutters. The country itself is full of corruption and the Wealthy tend to get wealthier and the poorer well get poorer.

Even when talking about India's independence, British couldn't help themselves but talk about India's poverty! To say "almost everyone here is hungry" is an insult to any nation that has just thrown off the yoke of colonial master. If India was poor in 1947, British were responsible. Propaganda kept India in bad light for over 50 years. Though we never begged for outside help like others, we were always considered a beggar nation.
