I remember sci-fi anime became strangely spiritual already since early 80's preaching the state of afterlife. I guess mankind just cannot stop thinking on eternity, viewing the seemingly endless vastness of the universe.

@evildave hmm must be some wind in space because Desler's hair and cape are moving. wind means there's air. i guess with a lil imagination u can explain it as maybe Desler has a personal shield mechanism that keeps a bubble of air around him. but i still cant explain the windy condition. maybe he got a cooling fan hidden under his cape to keep the personal shield mechanism cooled. :D

Well, the little one is a technocrat of sorts: She swallowed Dessler's reanimation by the Gatlanteans, but messages from afterlife stretch her will to believe too much. I suggested to her it was a prerecorded message sent from an automated probe. What do you people think?

@Restitutus It's always nice to have a hearty message left from a person who's gone permanently, although Yamato makers certainly overdo it like this, you know. This "prerecorded" message by Iscandar's top technology is interruption-proof such as baby's sudden cries. Starsha should have something more to say to Desslor since so many of his soldiers died because of her.

It is a story as you spoke it. It is the fault that remembered matsumoto of the Yamato author that I remembered Galaxy Express. I said that he wanted to "have a look at space while he lived". In matsumoto producing a work of the space like Yamato, will not it be granted the dream grand U.S.A.?^^

A youth strives for his own dream while getting helps from gorgeous people and thwart the injustice of the world system while himself growing up. Yamato is more like a tribute to soldiers who died for their country. I find it funny that while Americans expect encountering weird-looking aliens, Japanese expect good-looking ones. That divided their course of SF makings, probably.

Desslar is like Yamato: he is invincible with his red ship. The reason "Yamato" is so romantic, although lacks some logic. I like "Yamato" over other political-motivated cartoons. Blondes are great in "Yamato"; they just needed more varieties, that's all.
