Please tell me that when I finally get to go to Australia that Qantas only flies these from L.A. to Sydney! I would find any other way to go rather than this thing. I love how it looks mind you but I'm not flying in it!
@ERAUPRCWA ..I take it you mean to UFOSpaceidiot or whatever his name is.. well he should have put a little more thought into his msg before flying off at the mouth. YouTube should ban 11 year-olds from making comments, the odds for extraordinary silly comments would drop exponentially.
@benvanderpoel Then why is sales so low for tthe A380 and why is so inefficient. It is not doing to good and no airline has ordered one now since early 2010, And even without the ROlls Royce grenades the plane is plagued with problems
Flew home from LA to Sydney on a Qantas A380 in October last year and hated it! Seats are awful, the cabin feels completely over-pressurised (and sickening) and it has an awful way of handling turbulence (kind of bounces rather than jolts like a 747). I much preferred the old Qantas 747 I flew in to San Francisco on. Long live the 747 because I hate the A380!
i really can wait to get on board in that biggest plane that airbus built....look forward to fly with that magnificient plane...the airbus a 380 of qantasxxxx
do u know if u would take that plane from san fransisco to sydney or the 747 cuz the a380 looks pretty big and big enough to go all that way i need to find out
and last (as they always do, like AirBUST did to American and Air France) blame the pilots. AirBUST stinks all around and their planes are cheap. I have flown for 17 years and that is my humble opinion.
I actually think it has more to do with the large wingspan of the A380 and the fact that 1 and 4 are at/near the edge of the runway. Too much risk for FOD damage when brakes combined with reverse thrust on engines 2 and 3 will do the job. But that's just my 2 cents imput.
There is one point it is correct about though, it does only have reverse on the inboard engine's, The A380 has such an efficient wing that the Vref speed's are far lower than the B747 allowing for tremendous landing performance. Airbus saw a cost saving and decided not to include reverse on any of the engines to realise some substantial weight and maintenance savings, however the FAA stepped in and wanted it, hence a compromise was reached.
Such a great plane it sells like hotcakes! Yeah! Wack on two GE90-115b's and it would still fly AND save money. As for the wings, they may be good, but they are proving to be weak. See landing at Osk Kosh and then the AirBUST marketing pr machine go to work to try and cover it up and last (as they always do, like AirBUST did to American and Air France) blame the pilots. AirBUST stinks all around and their planes are cheap. I have flown for 17 years and that is my humble opinion.
great vid.. thx. There's something about the A380 that is pretty goofy looking though ... looks like an old Flying Guppy that had too many FatBurgers.
i love the engine sound i enjoy everything about aircraft wow this plane looks really heavy look at a the speed when it lands simply awsome great vid starboard76 .

SFO nonstop SYD or MEL are B747
but if you're prepared to add another 5 or 6 hours to the journey
(at 900km/h - 500mph across the PacificOcean it's already 14hrs)
can go SFO-LAX with AA, connect LAX for QF A380 direct to SYD or MEL
(from LAX some days use the A380 other days are B747 so must check which days)
A380 Implementation Schedule info on the Qantas website ☺
gss1967 2 years ago
Both the A380 and 747 can easily make the Sydny-San Francisco route, thier range is very simular, the A380 obviously just has increased capacity

Cool how they only use the thrust reversers on engines 2 and 3.
bravo1zulu 2 years ago
because the engines in an A380 are extremely powerful and the aircraft would stop too early if it had all engines with thrust reversers

yeah, you're probably right, but im not sure about the risk for FOD

Here's what I was able to find:
There is one point it is correct about though, it does only have reverse on the inboard engine's, The A380 has such an efficient wing that the Vref speed's are far lower than the B747 allowing for tremendous landing performance. Airbus saw a cost saving and decided not to include reverse on any of the engines to realise some substantial weight and maintenance savings, however the FAA stepped in and wanted it, hence a compromise was reached.
bravo1zulu 2 years ago
that's right, the A380 does have a efficient wing, in that way A380's are quite easier to land than 747s
