as and old school guy in ring action is important and i like stiff work but imo Davy is the US version of KENTA if hes was booked facing someone more and some who is more than a upper midcarder hes would do 4 1//4 Star matches at best hes not a five star guy yet imo
@RSNCICREO Yes but if ROH are going to grow and try to bring in new fans (which is what the TV show is for now) they have to start moving away from that style as is ain't gonna draw shit, so if ROH want to get bigger and make more money (which is essentially what the wrestling business is centered around) etc then they need to stop with these match styles which are only going to draw in a small number of fans
@RSNCICREO you miss understand me im saying Davy is not main event caliber yet and i agree about the steen match that should have been main event but ROH has a very good but very small pool of talent no dany match is 5 star quilty yet ROH should book hi like Japan does as a mid carder if you watch some of his japan stuff is good cuase he has some one to pace him he lack good pacing
BTW, WWE was just like ROH when they first started out...and look how far they got, please don't be so quick to jump on ROH, they don't even have a year of being on television yet.
@LucasTheMenace ROH have been an indy promotion for nearly 10 years not, and they had a TV show on HDnet for 2 years... The whole point of the TV show (and ROH even said this), was to bring in new viewers, and how the heel are they gonna bring in new viewers when they only appeal to their hardcore ROH fans, it just shows that they will never grow into anything more than an indy promotion... I think I am being very fair on ROH, fairer than reviewers that overrate their iPPV's
@MrParkin01 Once again they are going through a process, their HDNet deal is not as big as their Sinclair deal, not at all. They have to go through steps before becoming big you cant appeal to everyone, just like how WWE doesn't appeal to everyone. Unfortunately not everyone will get what they want.
@LucasTheMenace I know that, but I have seen no evidence of evolution from the TV show at all yet, hopefully in 2012 there will be some, cuz that company really needs it atm (less bland characters, variation in wrestlers, interesting storylines etc)
What does the production quality and card structure have to do with the show itself? At the end of the people pay to see wrestling, to be entertained, they didn't pay to see video packages, the order of match card, etc...some reasons make sense but there are others that are completely irrelevant. Every wrestling PPV has back to back matches so I don't see your point in that? If you analyze EVERTHING of course a show won't be perfect, lol.
@LucasTheMenace There are certain things you expect when you pay for something from a wrestling promotion, and I simply took all those things into account because the presentation matters... PPV's should at least have at least have some stuff between matches to break the monotony of consistent 15-20 min matches tbh... All I'm doing is showing how to grade a PPV fairly and get rid of ROH bias (which only takes into account in ring quality, when there is so much more to matches)
@MrParkin01 Do I see you reviewing WWE PPV's and talking about lack of production or how long was the PPV or order of matches etc? Like I said its about the storylines, the matches that people pay to see. We wouldn't be fans if we talked about anything else other than in the ring. I can see why you think there is ROH bias but if you're going to grade these ROH PPV's then do it the same way for WWE otherwise that makes you biased as well.
@LucasTheMenace We do moan about those things actually, and usually with WWE/TNA you don't have to worry about production as it is mostly pretty good, with ROH you have to be a little more critical... I've graded this iPPV the exact same way that I would grade a WWE/TNA PPV actually, I've taken everything into account like I do for WWE/TNA PPV's, but you have just admitted to ROH bias
but ypu will stand you for people who say stuff like Shawn taker or rock hogan as five star matches they had build but crap in ring work well at least rock hogan did
@RSNCICREO Yes, but hey told a great story, have the crowd on their feet, and the characters going against each other were massive... And I think you underrate the in ring work of Shawn/Taker, they actually sold and didn't do pointless 1000 high spots, they actually did stuff which meant something... Rock/Hogan's in ring work wasn't great either, but I wouldn't say it was bad, in ring phycholgy etc was great in that match
@MrParkin01 im no bot im someones values work rate and technical skill over every thong and booking and writing by wrestling people unlike wwe i never said Shawn or taker were bad workers Hogan has never put any one over in you compere shawn taker and Hogan who did better ofr making future talent
@RSNCICREO This is such a typical ROHbot response, 'oh they had bad in ring work', Rock/Hogan was a match which people cared about (as opposed to Davey/Eddie which no gave a shit about, even at the arena where the crowd was silent for most of the match), the build was that it was Icon v Icon, whereas Eddie/Davey was just 'oh well he had a trainer, and we are still friends, but we are going to see who is best AGAIN' why would anyone give a shit after the second match at BITW
I have yet to come across a Final Battle review that had the show more than a 7.5. Even if there are some reviews that are 8 or 9 out of 10, who cares? Would it be criminal if they actually enjoyed Final Battle that much?
@Turp28 I have found many review which have given it 8/8.5 on YouTube, go do a proper search like I did... You are missing my point... Reviewers said that they show was 'ok' and 'disappointing' (meaning they didn't enjoy it) yet they are giving it massive grades... That's what pisses me off, they have a very bias conception of what good wrestling is (i.e 1000 pointless high spots which don't tell a story)... And that is bullshit which is why I called them out on it
@MrParkin01 I'll agree that 8 or 9 for a dissapointing or ok show is over the top, still don't know why that bothers you so much. You can be dissapointed in a show and still enjoy it. It's not like they were saying it flat out sucked like you did.
@Turp28 My point is that if you are disappointed in a show you should criticize it and call out the company (like I do WWE/TNA & here ROH and their fans), and you should be giving it a grade to reflect that, and this is why I feel that ROH bias is being used so dam much, which their fans use all too often... A 8/10 grade does not reflect a disappointing show period, that is ROH bias for you
@MrParkin01 I think if anybody and I mean anybody that comes online and talks about the business. They have got to be able to do it without any biased feelings what so ever. To put your personal beliefs aside and just tell it like it is. I don't see alot of fans nowadays that can do that.
@Unrattled I assume that was a compliment lol, so Thanks Chris, this had been frustrating me for a while which is why I was so eager to tell it as it is, as not many people had done... Hopefully I will continue to do this on a regular basis
@EXXXTACY69 Exactly, but ROHbots won't look at that at all, they will just grade the overall show based on in ring quality, which is wrong and biased, especially when you look at their review of WWE/TNA where they always underrate it even though those companies sell and tell stories, and then you see them give ROH shows 8/9 out of 10 on a consistent basis, and you are just like 'this is bullshit' when you look how they are grading it
@EXXXTACY69 Really? Becuase when people say the show was 'disappointing' or 'ok' and give it a 7.5/10 then i really can't see where the grading makes sense, and the only thing they can really grade to get a grade that high is in ring work... Look at my grading system in the ling in the descrption box and you will see how a non-ROHbot should grade an iPPV, if it was 'disappointing'
if it was as good as the marks say it is then it would be on TV where everyone cane see & not just HD or whatever the hell it was on so that just tells you that it's not all that
@cmpunkmark2011 Exactly, very good point which I total agree with (ROH now has a TV show every Saturday for an hour on Sinclair), and this is why ROH will always be a large indy promotion and nothing more
Another thing, any wrestler can put on long matches, but if they can't work a match like Flair, Steamboat, Savage, HBK, or Bret Hart they don't need to have 30 minute to hour long matches.
@1992yajirobe EXACTLY, matches should only go on for a long period of time when they can actually work the match and consistently tell a story, Hogan only needed 10 minutes to go out their and entertain a crowd and get the match over and tell the story in the process... The main event going for 41 minutes was just pointless and the crowd reflected that, so many points in the match where it should've just been over, but that's massive lack of selling for you
I agree about people overrating ROH, because the first time I watched it I was expecting something great and just got something average at best. I wouldn't mind the lack of good stories if they had good matches, but they just have 54 high spots and no sell everything.
@1992yajirobe Yes exactly, I'll admit that when I first watched ROH I was blown away with the stuff they could do in the ring, but then you see that there is zero selling and lack of storytelling and it just becomes boring and a cheap way to make their matches seem better, which a lot of their fans fall for
I agree with your main point of ROH being over rated but a 5.25 did you give it? That's a little low, I'd propably go slightly higher with a 6/10 because there was a good story told throughout the show, with Steen's chance at a return, he wins and then comes out and cuts that promo at the end.
@godanselmo you really are an rohbot. I watched final battle and the main event was boring as fk. if thats good wrestling good for you. Even if the fans in attendance didnt care.
@godanselmo Overall that is a false statement, if you just focus on one of many aspects like I'm sure you're doing (in ring action) then you are so wrong... What about selling, storytelling etc, things that this business revolves around in telling a story to the fans... You can have a great match with 10000 high spots, but if it doesn't tell a story then it is just pointless
@godanselmo ROH have just done a new TV show to try and gain new fans and become a bigger company which is exactly what they need to do... ROH do not look like they will be doing that, and if they only want to satisfy a small selection of fans then the TV show is pointless
@MrParkin01 ROH are yying to attract wrestling fans who want to see proper wrestling matches, not WWE marks who watch it for the entertainment like you.
@godanselmo Firstly I am not a WWE mark, I watch and review WWE, TNA & ROH (including their TV shows, which most supposed 'ROH fans' do not review here on YouTube), I have also spoke very highly of ROH and their product many times... As much as they are trying to attract wrestling fans that like wrestling, that is a minority today, people want more than just wrestling, if ROH wants to grow they have to realize this, they can pout on great action, but they need more to their product
@Dalyxman Thanks man, since uploading this video I saw some of your ROHbots video, and enjoyed them a lot, we know now that we have something in common lol
The show was definitely not great, at best a C- show. The length wouldn't have seemed so bad if they had paced the show better, with a few interviews and video packages. I agree that some of the booking was pretty bad, surprised you talked for a half hour without even mentioning the fact that it should have been The Prodigy winning that tv title match. I do see your point on calling ROH out on this shit, but there were parts I enjoyed alot as well.
@iwoshow Dpoes my grade of 5.25 (or even a 6) reflects a C- grade better than a 7/8/9 out of fucking 10 does, like most people on YouTube have been giving... Point is that this show overall was bad and people are not calling ROH out on their bullshit because they want to overrate their product so much, and they want to focus on their no selling, no storytelling in ring action which is bias and a bullshit grading system
@iwoshow And that is exactly my point, at least my grading scale is consistent and doesn't have any bias in it like most ROHbots have in theirs (match quality only)... My grade reflects a disappointing show, more than a 7/8 or 8.5 / 10 ever dies, that suggest to me a good or great show
I just think you're not too familiar with the rating system. Don't get me wrong, the show had its flaws but to say it was a bad show is going too far. They did a great job with Kevin Steen's character development is a reason why people enjoyed the show somewhat. To give this show anything lower than a 7 would be injustice but anything higher than an 8 would be overrating.
@SandersRobin24 lol no. it was a bad show because it was BORING. the main event even the crowd were not paying attention if you watch it again and even the people live in that roh show were saying they werent paying attention. the only good thing about this show was kevin steen. so thats 1 match. for me this was 3/10 because really thats the only thing entertaining and the triple threat match.
@vivilakers EXACTLY, the show was boring for the most part, and with it being over 4 hours long and crowd being mostly dead (even if it was due to bad production) it effects the grading of the show... But of course ROHbots won't take any of that into account because they want to overrate their product so dam much
@SandersRobin24 OK, to sit there and say that ROH shows are consistently 8/9 out of 10 shows means that your grading systems are flawed, have a look at my grading system that I made and I think you will find that is a much better universal grading system and fairer too, but for people to sit there and say ROH is always a 8/9 out of 10 is fucking ridiculous, even a 7.5 for this show, which you yourself said was disappointing (and ROH's biggest show of the year) is ridiculous
@SandersRobin24 TO me and many people out there who know how to grade shows, a 7.5 pout of 10 means the show was great, a 5.25 grade (like I provided) shows a more accurate grade for a disappointing show... If ROH watch all your ROHbots videos and see you giving the show 7/8/9 out of 10 then they will never stop on their bullshit, something which you guys need to call ROH on much more often
the only good story roh had that i can remember was steen and generico its like you are not going going to make it far on wrestling alone u have to tell a story also and jim cornett should know that i like roh but come on
@dbzdezz1 you are right Jim Cornette suppose to know about this, but i am not sure if he realize in the long term they need story telling to bring in more fans to tune in to the product. Hell even Kevin Kelly should have known this by now
@blackrock316 very very true its like roh should know all this by now but they are not goin to change cause the fans they wont say there fav company is jumpin the ball lol
@dbzdezz1 Exactly, they have had some great stories when they try, but at this iPPV we only saw that in the Steen/Corino match in full essence... You can do all the high spots you want, but if there is no storytelling then it is just pointless, which is why I get annoyed when ROHbots overrate their product and base their grading on match quality alone
@dbzdezz1 I think they do know, but they just are too afraid to make changes because of how their 'hardcore' fans (the ones that overrate their shows) will react to it
u address one of the problems I think is wrong with wrestling fans today. They care so much about the wrestling, they forgetting the story telling is what sells tickets and characters. I never watch ROH, but i was told they focus on the wrestling instead of the storytelling. I am not sure what the main stream fans would think if they watch ROH for the first time because if that's the case, i would have a hard time watching the product for the first time if it comes on tv
@blackrock316 Wrestling is essentially about storytelling, you can do great wrestling but if there is no storytelling there it is pretty pointless, this is why ROH is still an indy promotion and will never grow, and they will never out butts in seats... No mainstream fans would want to watch that iPPV, so they are preventing business from a MASSIVE market and are just catering to a tiny fan base, who overrate their product every opportunity they get
as and old school guy in ring action is important and i like stiff work but imo Davy is the US version of KENTA if hes was booked facing someone more and some who is more than a upper midcarder hes would do 4 1//4 Star matches at best hes not a five star guy yet imo

I hope you're like this in regular conversations.

@MrPunkFever Only when I'm really angry and passionate about getting a point across, usually WAY calmer and more laid back than this lol

SandersRobin24 2 months ago
@SandersRobin24 lol no. it was a bad show because it was BORING. the main event even the crowd were not paying attention if you watch it again and even the people live in that roh show were saying they werent paying attention. the only good thing about this show was kevin steen. so thats 1 match. for me this was 3/10 because really thats the only thing entertaining and the triple threat match.
vivilakers 2 months ago
@vivilakers EXACTLY, the show was boring for the most part, and with it being over 4 hours long and crowd being mostly dead (even if it was due to bad production) it effects the grading of the show... But of course ROHbots won't take any of that into account because they want to overrate their product so dam much
MrParkin01 2 months ago
@SandersRobin24 OK, to sit there and say that ROH shows are consistently 8/9 out of 10 shows means that your grading systems are flawed, have a look at my grading system that I made and I think you will find that is a much better universal grading system and fairer too, but for people to sit there and say ROH is always a 8/9 out of 10 is fucking ridiculous, even a 7.5 for this show, which you yourself said was disappointing (and ROH's biggest show of the year) is ridiculous
MrParkin01 2 months ago
@SandersRobin24 TO me and many people out there who know how to grade shows, a 7.5 pout of 10 means the show was great, a 5.25 grade (like I provided) shows a more accurate grade for a disappointing show... If ROH watch all your ROHbots videos and see you giving the show 7/8/9 out of 10 then they will never stop on their bullshit, something which you guys need to call ROH on much more often
MrParkin01 2 months ago
I dont even follow ROH really and I can understand just from all the reviews I've heard on ROH shows.
jpjunyer 2 months ago
@jpjunyer well there we go then, the problem is obvious and inherent
MrParkin01 2 months ago
the only good story roh had that i can remember was steen and generico its like you are not going going to make it far on wrestling alone u have to tell a story also and jim cornett should know that i like roh but come on
dbzdezz1 2 months ago
@dbzdezz1 you are right Jim Cornette suppose to know about this, but i am not sure if he realize in the long term they need story telling to bring in more fans to tune in to the product. Hell even Kevin Kelly should have known this by now
blackrock316 2 months ago
@blackrock316 very very true its like roh should know all this by now but they are not goin to change cause the fans they wont say there fav company is jumpin the ball lol
dbzdezz1 2 months ago
@dbzdezz1 Exactly, they have had some great stories when they try, but at this iPPV we only saw that in the Steen/Corino match in full essence... You can do all the high spots you want, but if there is no storytelling then it is just pointless, which is why I get annoyed when ROHbots overrate their product and base their grading on match quality alone
MrParkin01 2 months ago
@MrParkin01 i dont think roh knows that you can only go so far on wrestling alone u have to have more
dbzdezz1 2 months ago
@dbzdezz1 I think they do know, but they just are too afraid to make changes because of how their 'hardcore' fans (the ones that overrate their shows) will react to it
MrParkin01 2 months ago
u address one of the problems I think is wrong with wrestling fans today. They care so much about the wrestling, they forgetting the story telling is what sells tickets and characters. I never watch ROH, but i was told they focus on the wrestling instead of the storytelling. I am not sure what the main stream fans would think if they watch ROH for the first time because if that's the case, i would have a hard time watching the product for the first time if it comes on tv
blackrock316 2 months ago
@blackrock316 Wrestling is essentially about storytelling, you can do great wrestling but if there is no storytelling there it is pretty pointless, this is why ROH is still an indy promotion and will never grow, and they will never out butts in seats... No mainstream fans would want to watch that iPPV, so they are preventing business from a MASSIVE market and are just catering to a tiny fan base, who overrate their product every opportunity they get

I Have to Agree with you !
The PPV showed the general problems of ROH !
Very Goood Video !
