  • 2:46 minutes of brilliance!

Starts and ends with a little butterfly enjoying the sun. Inbetween: J.Caroll´s wonderful peculiar poetry, medieval lore, misty fairy-tale forests, the poacher´s song, weird crane and tracking shots through the woods, plenty of gore and a lesson T.Jones´ poacher has to learn about the food chain....

  • Did he taste good?

  • The best bit is the butterfly sitting on the dead man's nose (after the poacher trod on one earlier)

  • Does everyone feels as transfixed as I do with this stuff? Medieval lore, magical whim, wit, fantastical happenings....it's just marvelous! No matter how old I get - I find I'm drawn to eerie mists and goblin whispers! Ha!

  • LoL! putting a fox and a bunny in the same bag.

  • LOL ill be laughing if they made a video where the guy turns around and it turns out it was The Jabbawockeez ;D

  • lol i love this. OH SHIT THE CAMERA!

  • He's whistling "the Poacher's Song" as he gets the bait from the traps

'Oh, tis my delight on a Friday night in the season of the year'.

  • Beware the Jabberwock my son!

  • YEAH

  • i bloody love this film, brilliant!!

  • Carma can be a bitch...

  • ewwwwwwwwwwwwww

  • One of the best black comedies I've ever seen!

  • 2:08 xxxxDD

  • do we ever get to see the jabber wocky hope he looks a little good

  • that was scary .is this alice in wonderland ? if it is that will be to scary for kids it has blood and bones . they have real animals in that bag and that terry gilliam he does not like animals

  • One of the best movies I know!:D

  • is it a good idea to put a rabbit and a fox in the same bag? lol

  • @DrSparrowShrike It's best not to think about it.

  • @DrSparrowShrike hahaha

  • @DrSparrowShrike It's gonna be food either way, and besides the fox is probably concentrated on, "HOLY CRAP HOW DO I GET OUT OF HERE!?!".

  • the guy that dies is python terry jones..the film came out 1n 1982

  • @mungo0211 actually, it came out 1977

  • ???when did this come out?

  • haha i can just imagine the guy holding a camera near his face jumping around infront of a green screen

  • ok now that was totally creepy

  • This is a brilliant movie! One of the best ever made! They showed it on swedish television under the swedish name Stackars Dennis ("Poor Dennis"), and I was lucky enough to record it. Loved it ever since!

  • The music at 1:48 is the same musical peice use for the intro to Mr. Creasote in The Meaning of Life.

It's actually a Royalty free peice of music called "Spinecharge". I happen to have a recording of it on a halloween music CD called CD Creepies. Lovely piece of cheep trill music.

  • Cool Jabberwock POV.

  • 'Tis a silly film.

  • sweet movie though

  • fuck

everyone on the internet is lame

  • its not completely unlikely that those are real animals in the bag, its not like its hurting them... although it may also be a midget? chew on that

  • ça a l'air génial !!!!! Il film les scène de manière unique !!! j'aime beaucoup l'humour de la scène !

  • what the

  • Yeah because I'm SURE those are real animals in the sack. Idiot.

  • Yes, Terry Gilliam isn't a MASTER of puppetry, you're right. He would've HAD to use real animals! Furthermore, PETA would've been completely A-OK with that! They wouldn't even let John Waters kill a fly in Serial Mom- you think they'd let Gilliam stick them in a sack? Learn your facts. And Miss "Shaquana"- I believe you've let out enough of yourself through your name and your comments for me to judge you an utter imbecile.

    Good day to you ma'am.

  • @MissJMshaquana5 sorry that little green hand was a mistake i actually wanted to select the red hand

  • You ARE an animal, you ignorant fucking bastard.

  • Oh boo hoo, ignore reality more you retarded zombie. Stop trying to bubble yourself from truth and grow up, you corpse eating freak.

Can't handle the truth, can we? Pitty.

  • Oh, I fully understand the scientific classification of humans as just another animal, but based on purely social elements, I say we are very much above them. What's the point of belittling humans to other, lesser forms of life? Are you so depressed that you have been universally hated so far by everyone who knows you, and you try to express your anger towards the rest of the human population by trying to make others feel as insignificant as you do? And you spelled "pity" wrong. Ownage complete.

  • KarntheHellknight: Grow up, little kid.

Eh, who am I kidding? That'll never happen.

  • And other animals will eat humans. Lions, tigers, aligators etc. So what is your point?

  • My point is that KarntheHellknight is a retarded little kid with no grasp on reality.

  • Someone has run out of intelligent retorts.

  • You influenced me.

  • the cap is so great

  • this is freaking moody and scary! like it.

  • It was more than just WLVI TV Chanenl 56 in Cambridge, ma that considered Benny Hill better than Monty Python! It was also WOR---a book called The Benny Hill Story by John Smith shows WOR doing so! Bio is available at amazon!

  • Eww;

    The End Is Gross...

  • Nice Cap Aye???

I Think THe Cap Looks Yummy =]]

    xD

    Haha No.

    My Friend And I Have Caps Like That;;

Only Ours Are Pink And Red...

    =]]

  • I saw some parts of it when I was a little kid! That movie scared me a lot at that time! I never forget! Simply perfect!

  • Benny Hill was more of a silly three stooges humor, very funny nonetheless,But seriously Monty Python was genius in it's humor, the Latin lesson in life of Brian, the greek and german philosophers playing soccer, terry gilliams cartoons, just brilliant and quite mad

  • Who cares about high brow references, Little black?!?! Gilligan's Island had high brow references with talk about Hamlet, Medicare and so on! That make Gilligan an adult show. No! It and Python are for babies! FWIW sometimes there were low brow Python skits too, like the Lumberjack Song!

  • Michael Palin described Terry's head attire as being like a medieval baseball cap........Wonderful film.

  • this is from IMDB

"Originally erroneously promoted and released in some countries as "Monty Python's Jabberwocky" against the wishes of Terry Gilliam. Threats of legal action resulted in the Python reference being removed from the title on all subsequent reissues."

  • mmm its a bit scary but the end when the dragon appears sucks

  • Don't forget it's a comedy. It was designed to "suck", and to make us laugh. And on that criteria, it does work !

  • That's some bad hat, harry.

  • READ!!!!!!

Benny Hill was considered funnier than Monty Python by a UHF station(WLVI TV Channel 56 in Cambridge, Mass) that ran both! I agree!

  • Then it must be true! Seriously though... You fail...

  • So?

Who the fuck cares about some UHF station up in Mass.?

  • Is that Terry Jones playing the guy that gets killed? I saw parts of this movie when i was a kid, incredibly scary, later on when i saw the holy grail i thought these two where the same movie, they sure have their similarities

  • Yep, it is Terry Jones

  • I like how the quality of the film and effects are top notch then at the end the film the dragon effects cost around 50p

  • I love the Monty Python style humor in this movie, reminds me of monty pythons the holy grail

  • I love this, my drama teacher made us watch it and when the it shows the guy when his insides hav been ripped up or watever, everyone was screaming and i was like, "Cool!"

    Monty python...gaaahhh ^^

  • never seen it but i have seen the holy grail also do u ever see the jabberwocky in it

  • now THAT'S how you start a film

  • My dad had this on video when I was little. Scared the living shite right out of me ha ha.

  • The Black Knight was hilarious in this film

  • Bet that hurt.

  • I love you for putting this up.

  • This is one of the funniest sick movies of all time -and if there was any sun, that hat would really be keeping it off Terry Jones' face!

  • oh my god! this is going to sound wrong but I used to love this movie when I was a kid. fucking funny movie

  • How is that supposed to sound wrong?

  • lol i dunno... some people think 3 year olds shouldn't watch some movies. i don't really give a shit but it's kinda funny.

  • With michel gondry, darren aronofsky, jonathan glazer, david lynch, adrian lyne, david fincher, bergman, fellini, guy ritchie, wes anderson and paul thomas anderson, he is one of the most artistic, genius, best filmakers of all times, visually, in the script... hope he keeps doing movies like Tideland.

  • Tideland is fucking brilliant!!

I did a book report on the novel after I saw the film, and had to come to school as one as the book's characters. Naturally, I chose Jeliza-Rose...barbie head on my finger tip&all.

    :D

  • Lol don't forget Carrol Reed among many others. XD Great list of directors!

  • Genius, hope Gilliam try´s something with James Joyce´s "Finnegan´s wake", it would be amazing to see that, or with William faulkner´s "A Fable"... Great cult movie, with tideland and The adventures of baron..., and 12 monkeys and ... las vegas with johnny depp, one of my all time terry´s inmortals.

  • is this movie long?

  • Wow...I looked up it's release date; 1977 I was 11...no wonder I shit myself. Gilliam films are great!

  • Funny, I remember going to the movies to see this, thought it was a Python comedy...I was probably 13 or 14, scared the crap out of me. Like to see it again...haven't seen it since.

  • WOAH!!! Monty Python did a Jabberwocky! A film for both Lewis Carrol fans AND Monty Python fans to delight in...although that intro was a little too dark for MP...especally the end, but the music did sound Monty Python-ish...

  • Not Monty Python. Some Python actors might have been involved and Gilliam might have directed it, but its not a Monty Python movie.

  • mytoeismissindarnit

I've seen there was a U.S. poster advertising it as "Monty Python's Jabberwocky".

Even so, you're quite right, "...it's not a Monty Python movie."

  • the most underrated film ever

  • can you get this movie in canada???

  • I'm getting the DVD for Christmas. That and Brazil. Two brilliant Gilliam films!!!!

  • Have you got a 27B-6?

  • get it on ebay

  • I wasn't planning on leaving it here but since it makes people wanna see that excellent movie... I hope that I do not violate any law...

  • Monty-Python's "Jabberwocky"..came out in 1977

  • It's not Monty Python. Terry Gilliam directed it and Michael Palin starred in it. That's all love :)

  • I remember this movie!!! Can you provide more clips from it?

  • Wait, wait, wait....WHAT movie is this???
