Hi, I'm getting 4 of these shortly for canon. Is the cable shutter release shown on your video really necessary? What is the cable's purpose? I intend mounting the transceiver on my camera hotshoe and another receiver on the off camera flash.
I've never messed around with the cable release stuff. The way I think it works is you can use one of the transceivers as a wireless shutter button by triggering another transceiver that is plugged into your camera via the cable.
I just use them as wireless flash triggers like shown in the video and they work very nicely.
The difference in models of the rf 603 is just for the different remote shutter release cords of different camera brands and within brands the specific models
Hi I realize on ebays got 3 type of RF 603 N1, N2, N3?? Which type did u bought last time?? Why say so surely can use on any brand of nikon, if buy nikon type.. So confuse.. May advice please?? thanks very much..
I don't remember anything about n1 n2 or n3 models. I bought the kind that said it was for Nikon cameras. They Nikon type should work across all Nikons because of the layout of the electrical connectors being standard to Nikon cameras and flashes.
I have no idea if it would trigger any other models but I doubt it.
I think Canons have a different pattern of electrical connections and the Nikon triggers would not work with them.
@blacksunday98 i recently bought the rf-603n. I didn't know that you have to make sure you choose the right version: N1-3. When i got mine i got the one for the d7000. i have a d300s. Make sure you order the right one for your camera or you won't be able to fire your camera remotely. Hope this helps
Really specific questions should be directed to the seller. I'm pretty sure the 'nikon' style ones will work on any modern nikon camera and any nikon compatible flash. I've only personally used them with my own nikon d40 camera, sb-700 speedlight, and yn-460-II flashes.

It's entirely possible that 1/640 was some kind of magical fluke number. Your mileage may vary. For $30/pair they're worth checking out even for a 1/250th or 1/300th sync though.
Not sure what you mean... The flash will fire by optical triggering without being attached to the camera but the radio triggers need one unit on the camera. That's where the signal originates from to be sent out across the radio waves to the other unit which receives it and tells the flash to fire.
Simple: I wanted to see how fast a shutter speed I could get away with. When shooting with a model I usually stick to slightly lower shutter speeds to allow for some ambient light as well.
I've read that before too. I'm no expert at all but I'm managing to sync with the flash at higher speeds than 250 consistently. I was testing for this video and kept bumping the speed up and trying it. above 640 it wouldn't sync at all but below that it seemed to. I know from my minimal photo shoot experience that it'll sync at 320 all day long with no trouble. The higher you go the more chance of misfire of course but for $30/pair these triggers make me pretty happy.
where did you buy then from ?

My Canon 50D has a sync 1/250 th, but with the RF 603 I do not exceed 1/200th. If I exceed this limit, I have a black band on the picture

@froshmasta because from what i know 1/250 sec is the fastest u could go unless your using pocket wizard that support highspeed sync
