  • That's not a storm surge, and I'm glad it's not for the sake of the person taking the video! What you see is simply high surf due to Ike!! :)

  • Actually, thats why I took the videos. The reported storm surge on the east coast of FL was from 3-8 feet while Ike was in Cuba, over 300 miles away, as the description says. I thought it was pretty amazing level of storm surge or 'high surf' if you prefer, from a storm that far away. The waves/beach erosion/surge were comparable to TS Fay here, despite the difference in distance. Ike being 300-400 miles away, and Fay flying by within a few miles. We've been fortunate here on the Treasure Coast!

  • I hope you are okay, and so is all your personal stuff. My little brother & his wife and baby have not yet returned home but as it was directly across from the Sea Wall (which knocked Geraldo (what a nut!) over. A lot praying for all of you went on. Especially the crazily brave who stayed. Although I'm NOT happy that my young brother, a pilot, may have to go on dangerous rescues for people who could have LEFT!!! Thank God there weren't more casualties. One it too many, though, head warnings!

  • It shouldnt be that bad of a storm perhaps a tropical depression and a bit of rain.

  • are you kinding me. Its a Cat 2 maybe 3 before the eye makes landfall. Storm Surges over 20 feet. this is a bad situation for the houston area
