  • and...i appreciate you teaching chain maille to people like me! i can get alot of things but chain maille is NOT one of them...til now! thank you!

  • @pinkattickitty np, i think your the first to really use it, yay!

  • there is a mute on every computer! lol! distracted by the music? wow...jus sayin...i am willing to fit some with helmets! and i thought i was distracted easily...SQUIRREL!!!!!!

  • there is no easy way to make chain mail you just have to do it and if you lazy go buy it, its fun if your bored. i have been working on mine in and out for 6 months but i took a 4 month break and i have half a shirt done

  • This adds an unnecessary extra step. This is rediculous.

  • its a lot easier to make it without any jig

  • at first glance i didnt think u knew wat u were doin cause the vids pic was misleading but ya know this seems very useful and would be even better if the rods were longer ...ty for this idea will be of great use 2 me

  • maille

  • were'd you get the rings. or did you make em yer self

  • @dogbone222 made them myself

  • kk thanks

  • @dogbone222

You can also get them at a website called The Ring Lord, which should be easy to find through google or some such. They sell both premade rings and wires to make rings with. You can get anything from aluminum which is easy to work with but not very strong to titanium which I imagine is very hard to work with but produces very nice results. For this 4 in 1 pattern, I usually use 12 gauge 1/2" diameter mild steel (which is a nice mix of cheap and strong).

  • Use a piece of stiff foam to hold the open rings for you.

  • @austin01478963 im not making thinga anymore

  • whats the new song?

  • @ace567z Finger Eleven - Paralyzer

  • too slow method

  • it is kinda cool but i prefur to use the old way man it is much faster i think! take care buddy

  • what's the song?

  • @011thejazz Can you read?

  • OMG!!!! lol!!!!

I love doing chainmaille. This is the most unorthodox yet very intuitive way I have seen so far!!!

  • Hahaha it the teenage version of knitting. Lol but cool video, I may try this

  • They have machines that do this. Why waste your time?

  • @cdoftx if u want to spend money on already made pieces go ahead but a lot of people make it by hand to save money, and a lot of people like doing it

  • I don't understand why you make one small section with the jig then do the rest 1 rings at a time by hand. Why not make multiple sections with the jig then connect the sections. Or, connect a co0mpleted section to the 1st row of a new section being started on the jig. I like the jig. It's a very good idea. I've got a couple ideas for modifications. I'll post a video when I get a jig made with the modifications.

  • @mfumich well i find 1 ring at a time is easy and i did put the a completed row on iot and just continued it but it is hard to put them into it once its already made

  • @medicfrazier If it's easy to use the jig, why now make a section with the jig, set that section aside, make another section, then connect the two. If doing it 1 link at a time is faster, why use the jig at all? If using the jig is faster, whay just do the 1 small section than quit using the jig all together?

  • @mfumich it was easier for me to start out with i did make sections and put them together but it took me a while to learn the pattern once i learned it then it was easier to do it the normal way and add 1 ring at a time

  • @medicfrazier You could just start the 1st row of the new section and add the 1st section just like you added the rings from 1:20 to 1:46. If it's faster for you to do it 1 ring at a time, why use the jig at all? Don't get me wrong. I like the jig. Gonna make one myself. It just doesn't make sense to only use the jig for the first 57 rings in a 15 lb hauberk with 9000+ rings.

  • @mfumich it wasn't faster when i first started, i couldn't understand the pattern of how the ring went at all until i made the jig then after a while i ended up earning it so it was faster for me to do it 1 ring at a time, i don't use this anymore

  • @medicfrazier If it's easy to use the jig, why now make a section with the jig, set that section aside, make another section, then connect the two. If doing it 1 link at a time is faster, why use the jig at all? If using the jig is faster, why just do the 1 small section than quit using the jig all together?

  • nice

  • I'm starting my own forge and foundry and I'm making a little thing for making your own little chainmail rings instead of buying them. this process does in fact still take a long time and it's not very convenient

  • @PandaxPanic ha cant imagine making my own rings, although i never ended up being a good forger, ive tried but never was that good lol

  • @medicfrazier it's rather easy and if you're skilled enough you can heat and close the rings while still red hot

long and arduous work, yet worth it for a strong, lasting mail, and they never unlink

  • @PandaxPanic Cheap electric screw driver (variable speed) fitted with a mandrel is the quickest, easiest way I've seen to do it.

  • now i'll start making chain mail again i stopped because it was time consuming

  • @Brjostabarn isnt really to save time just how i started making it and how i started to understand the 4-1 pattern

  • wow!! that is amazing! i was intimidated before i watched this. the books make it look so much harder than it is. tyvm!!

  • that's really crafty. I'm going to need to make a setup like this.

  • Прикольно)

  • now you need to weld each one closed hehe

  • great idea!! well done.

  • that's am innovated technique.. but a bit unnecessary, in my eyes, seems more time consuming than to do it without the jig.

  • cool thanks

  • @Makron5 what is wrong with u

  • A little over engineered But hey if it works for you so be it. I can pop out a 12x12 in butted mail in about 3 hours. Its great busy work and I can take it anywhere nearly.

  • Thanks so much. Thanks for sharing AND updating...that you do it differently now...

For the guy that did not like the music...turn down or off the sound.

    Appreciate the video very much...

    AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME.

  • brilliant

  • chainmail is't exactly that hard anyway if u find it that hard to understand how to make chainmai then u would probly find it just as hard to make that device

  • Very interesting and easy way to start learning. However, your grammar sucks.

    Tell=until or 'til

Your = you're or you are.

There were more....distracts from otherwise good video.

  • erm... takes much longer time

  • its how i learned to do it by hand so its good for new people who dont understand it

  • i ll try to make abracelet with this way but anyway nice vid

  • would have enjoyed it much more with different music. Too loud and couldnt think.

  • @jeriartwithaview Turn yourspeakers down...

  • Thank you!!

  • Novel approach to learning. Looks way harder than how I learned, but I can see how it keeps things straight. I make long chains and twist them until they lay right and add another row of rings.

  • looks cool but my way is about 4 times faster.

  • This jig is not about speed, it is about ease of use.

  • thx a lot dude..

  • no problem

  • thx

  • No Problem!

  • Thats pretty smart

  • Thx!

  • Thnx 4 the tip budd, Way faster this way

  • Your Welcome!

  • hmm yeah that is quite a cool way of making chainmail but i think ill stick with my way :)

  • that looks much easier and quicker than the way we do it. thanks for sharing!!

  • pretty neat way of doing that

  • thx!
