To me, it's about choosing between what you need for yourself and what is easy. These past few months have been hell for me, but I know that this is something I have to push through on my own. Listening to this just touches me to the core, because it's so true - sometimes you have to face something, and make your own mistakes. Sometimes letting go of what you love hurts as much as you expected, but it's still what you have to do, and you'd take the storm to going back.

@rojan012 how does nobody know this? the lead singer and songwriter had cancer. this song is to his wife through his battle with cancer. she was trying to be strong for him and keep him fighting when he just wanted to give up. "please dont' get me rescued" is literal. in this song he's ready to die. he battled lukemia for a long time, and this band was made as a new outlet for the songs he wrote about the experience.
i think it's about he and the one he loves being involved in some tragedy and not wanting to be rescued from it because as long as he's with her that's all he needs.
I played this song and sang it to the girl that I love...now this doesn't seem like a song for showing feelings, but i hear something else from this song. She lives a thousand miles away from me, and there's gonna be heartache, because I'll miss her when I go away. When I first read the lyrics of this song, I interpreted it as a guy who is dying, but doesn't want to be rescued because his girlfriend is dead too, and he wants to be with her. "cool" as opposed to cold, or dead. he's endured so much pain and at the point of writing this song he became numb and was ready to die, even though his (now) wife didn't want him to go. it's more than just a love song.

When I first read the lyrics of this song, I interpreted it as a guy who is dying, but doesn't want to be rescued because his girlfriend is dead too, and he wants to be with her. That's just my interpretation, though - I've heard other people have others, so I guess it's up to the listener to decide? xD

he got married to her
in like 2006.
but he did have lukemia which almost killed him. but that has nothing to do with this song id say, because he got lukemia after the release of everything in transit, the album that this song is on.

He had leukemia during the release. He was diagnosed in late May/early June and the record was released in August. That doesn't mean it's related to his leukemia, however.

actually, i think its just about getting through something on your own and proving that you CAN do it. He's already numb and wants to find his own way back to feeling something. people try to help, but they dont really get through to him or maybe they just can't do it. you know how nothing changes until you decide to/let it? i think its him saying he's come to terms with it happening.

@stinkface101 he had cancer when he wrote this song. it's partially a love song but it's also about him being scared of dying and the pain he's going through. he's saying "she's dying just to keep me cool, but i'm finally numb so please don't get me rescued." "cool" as opposed to cold, or dead. he's endured so much pain and at the point of writing this song he became numb and was ready to die, even though his (now) wife didn't want him to go. it's more than just a love song.

I was a fan of JM way before Twilight and if I had been turned on to them because of Steph Meyer it would have been because they're good and not because of Twilight. You can enjoy something after hearing of it somewhere else, you know.

The first time I heard Jack's Mannequin was on One Tree Hill. But it doesn't mean I'm less of a fan than someone who used to know Something Corporate or acidentally heard one of their songs.
It's cool that they're getting more famous. No serious band want to stay on the "garage time" forever!

I'm actually glad it's not more popular because then the media would just mess it up, like it usually does with other bands. You know how it is, some bands go main stream and it doesn't hold the beauty of its songs like before, which is quite sad.

Yes, I just remembered how devastated I was when Seconhand Serenade became a fad in our campus just this August. Like what's the point of knowing him for more than 2 years, and just like that everybody knows him. You see, when the song is beautiful and less popular, as well as the artist. You kinda feel some personal space and it makes you feel good... When it became overrated; it loses all its spark. It may become just another song that everybody loves...

Jacks mannequin is more popular than they were before, so i dont know what youre talking about. Whens the last time you heard an EIT song on the radio, pretty sure I heard The Resolution on the radio the other day. Andrews come so far and is steady getting more popular, to wish to take that away from him out of your own selfishness about the "media" ruining them is ridiculous Andrews going to do what he wants to, hes a perfectionist.
