Too bad, this part is pretty much unrealistic. It could have been so much better. The movie had the potential for being a great film across the board.

@cartabusta No, it is not by a soviet director :) It is by a german director (Joseph Vilsmaier), german movie from 1993 that is. There is THREE Soviet movies about that battle: The Battle of Stalingrad (1949, two part movie), Soldiers (Солдаты, 1958), Stalingrad (1989, two part movie also). Stalingrad: Dogs, Do You Want to Live Forever? is also a german movie, from 1958.

@mvn591014, the British and the Germans (by the end of the war) used female anti-aircraft crews lead by men, but the Russians trusted or had no choice deploting women in direct combat.

I have heard of Soviet woman snipers before. But an all women anti-aircraft crew is new to me!
And these ladies turn their gun toward German Tiger tanks, even after suffering of casualties.
