When you say a plus for all close work do you mean bifocals with a +1 that I can get from Walgreens or does this need to be a prescription from the optometrists?
"corneo-plasty" is being investigated at this time, this could lead to a more permanent shape correcting with Corneal Refractive Therapy.
CRT lenses tend to be more comfortable than Ortho-K lenses as well. Using special 'comfort drops' prior to inserting them create a greater element of comfort as well.
The fee's are significantly less than LASIK, and braces for you teeth, and can be financed interest free for as little as $80/month
@AHMADF93 Nothing in our life is permanent. But for Ortho-K, and a refractive state of -1 diopter, the eye will "drift back" to -1 if you quit using this lens for sleep. There is another method, and that is to wear a plus for all close work (starting at 20/40). This has worked with pilots, and takes about seven to eleven months to clear your Snellen to 20/20. (A change of about +3/4 diopters.) There are no easy or quick solutions.
Yes, Ortho-K works (CRT). In about two weeks. Costs about $1,000 or more. The "negaitve"? You must wear CRT for the rest of your life. There are no easy solutions.
This looks like another name for Orthokeratology( Ortho-K ).......yeah sure its safer that lasik,,,but if it is the same as Ortho-K, its VERY VERY VERY uncomfortable in the beginning. Its like like sand-paper on your eyes the first few days. I was crying and teariing with my Ortho-k lenses. Please someone prove me wrong, I would of loved to continue with Ortho-K, if it was not so dame uncomfortable.
This has been in practice for over 35 years by specialists in eye care. About 12 years ago, the FDA put their stamp of approval on several companies to market as FDA safe and effective. Doctors practicing CRT must be credentialed and go through special certification in order to design, and treat Astigmastism, nearsightedness and even farsightedness.
@DrChander01 I do understand that you are talking about the FDA (as in the Food and Drug Administration), which I do not trust, and you are talking as though people like myself have some supposed obligation to trust them! Now this is something that you need to be informed about, and that is people like myself do not trust the FDA, and I have talked with an ophthalmologist who told me that they are not safe for your eyes, and there for I will pursue the route of my genetics used!
@DrChander01 Make no mistake about this one, and that is there have been forensic scientists who have the technology to prove this as being infallible with medical examiners who in the area of forensic ophthalmology! Now these people that I am talking about are the authorities on how there is down right fraud involving the FDA, which needs to exposed, and is not being accounted for with all of the products that are out on the market which needs a proper focus!
