  • Well you and another yt subscriber just gave me an idea thank you both :D

  • I have a question about this process, do you deep condition when your twists when you cleanse your scalp???? Do you find when you're taking the twists out after doing the scalp cleanses that your hair is starting to loc?

  • I'm thinking maybe if you tightly coil the twist around those hard plastic rollers overnight ,and sit under a dryer, our use the cool setting on a blow dryer, they may keep their length after washing

  • @PrettyDimples01, While in micro braids I use a mixture of Sea Breeze and Witch Hazel with a few drops of peppermint oil. I sprayed my scalp and hair (extensions) all over. Put on a plastic cap for an hour. Then take a hot wet towel and rub my scalp to get the dirt out and move down to clean my extensions. Hair and scalp was clean and no smell. Braids came out easy because my hair was really moist and great condition.

  • Perhaps after washing. Use a diffuser to dry while stretching the hair to maintain the length?

  • Im wondering if this would have worked better if you used those little cheap plastic sandwich bags (put your braid in the bag), and then bind the top of the bag tightly with rubber bands. You did a good job, and gave me an idea (the one I just mentioned) on how to make this work better. Thanks PD01! :)

  • Your hair is just taking off! missed a few vids :( . How often do you wear the mini twist?

  • I'm going to try that because my hair be on fire!!!!!! I need to wash it every 3 days. and I never had dandruff in my life...until this summer, and I'm 3 year's natural.

  • Lol. That seems like too much work. But thanks for the idea

  • How about plating the hair into sections, putting them up into a loose ponytail. This way you can use a rubber nozzle to the designated area and use your fingers to rub the scalp clean. Of course holding your head down over the sink or tub for gravity purposes only! Good Luck!

  • I wonder if your customers watch your videos?

  • Do you have to use this method jst for twist it braids?

  • that looks pretty.

  • Interesting method, I wont be trying this, but the video is entertaining and I enjoyed it :)

I am wearing twist right now, I washed them and they are shrunken up like a pigs tail, its all good, I don't mind,at least itching is done with hehe.

  • Nice :-)

  • awesome! & exactly how I do my daughters twists when I have to wash them. I braid them tight after and it makes wonderful crinkly twists. Thanks for the vid sis :-)

  • Hey all that matters is that the style comes out looking fabulous. You rocked it.

  • You know I wonder how the dry shampoo would do. I use to use that just on my scalp without getting in the shower.(when I wore synthetic braid exts) and it worked quite well?

  • thanks for posting i'm gonna take out my braids and was trying to figure out how to maintain my next style which will be twist

  • dry shampoo wouldnt work?

  • if you wanted to go from crinkly back to straight braids, how would you do that?

  • Why didn't you get a water spray bottle and spray it out? Just a suggestion. ;-)

  • oooooooooooh i heard the baking soda thing is too strong of a ph for us naturals-and guess what i did try it with coconut oil and V05 before i say kimmay tubes video concerning it. It did mess my hair up. So i had to lower the ph with other natural oils and leave- ins to see a better effect. It looked like a light perm seriously.

  • Hi your blush is always so cute what blush do you use?

  • That is a lion. That is not a cat. Woooooow man that is some big animal! Thanks for sharing this video. I like how you show the successes and the failures. You save a whole lot of people a whole lot of heartache! LOL I really dig the crinkly twist style you got in the end. Nice! Blessings...

  • @prettydimples01 Do you think you will ever post any videos on how you maintain length? I started watching your videos when we had the same length hair lol you have surpassed me! lol Just wanted to know what you are doing. Thx

  • i swear u are so damn creative. i would of never thought of this

  • Yay! Love the mini twists :)

  • We'll never know how something will turn out unless we try it...LOL

  • Maybe you can try an application bottle. You know the kind with a spout for dispensing water. And the plastic wrap method seemed like it would have worked that way. Either way fierce hair girl!

  • LOL at the things we do for our hairstyles! The cling-wrap is very creative!

  • La di Da di Da. :)

  • Your hair always comes out so beautiful! I'm trying to reach your length. How do you stretch your hair before twists?

  • this is how I shampoo my hair. Big old "Color Purple Plaits" that are very loose so the shampoo works through the plait and rinses out clean. Your end result looks like you did it on purpose. :) very pretty.

  • I LOVE mini twist but when I wear them my hair tends to want to try & lock on me which makes the removal & detangling process unbearable!!

  • turned out great despite getting wet.

  • Even if the plastic wrap didn't work the style came out really pretty.

  • Congratulations on being one of the top five naturals on youtube by the Huffington post. I have been watching your videos for about a year. I just started subscribing to my favorite channels last month. So I was happy to hear that you were one of the top five!

  • Love the results. Cute earrings.

  • That has to be the HUGEST cat I've ever seen. Goodness.... Okay nevermind... I'll watch the rest of the video now. Sorry. :)

  • @mzfabdiiva08 LOL hey he is normal size. LOL :)

  • @PRETTYDIMPLES01 Lol. And ya know, I thought about that after I posted it. I gues I wouldn't know since I don't really have many cats around much.

  • @PRETTYDIMPLES01

do you mix the shea butter with something else? I don't like the smell neither the gritty consistency.

  • Getting a Good Workout Sweat 5 Days a week keeps my scalp clean as well....

  • i love the way you do your twist i wish my hair can do that

  • turned owt well :)

  • Seely.... Try a spray bottle with the nozzle set on stream.

  • Seely

  • Love it!! Congratulations on the Huffington Post article... I was so happy to see your channel featured, it was so well-deserved. You've been such a great inspiration to me and taught me SO much about natural hair care and styling. You've proven that natural hair is really versatile and can look stylish, fun, professional, slick, cute, cool, funky... however we need to to look, and still be healthy while at it.

  • Beautiful final style! The idea the beautybynajah posted sounds like a great idea and I will be trying it myself. Be blessed

  • I love her smile

  • Gorgeous!!!!

  • Maybe you could try putting the braids in one huge top ponytail like Alfalfa from that old time tv show. Band the length of it so it all sticks up and nothing touches your head. (Another example is Dipsy from teletubbies!) Then squirt water at the roots with one of those scalp concentration nozzle bottles (Do gro type bottle). Focus only on the scalp and everything that rinses down will not wet the rest of your hair because that's in a huge top pony, it may work... who knows... :)

  • aw thanks for trying!!! I was concerned about this...i think maybe the rubber bands would have helped and keeping them braided for the wash. And I was gonna try large rollers to keep them stretched but my hair isnt long enough yet. might work 4 u tho!

  • aw thanks for trying!!! I was concerned about this...i think maybe the rubber bands would have helped and keeping them braided for the wash. And regular non sulfate shampoo mixed with water is less damagin i believe. I was gonna try large rollers to keep them stretched but my hair isnt long :enough yet. might work 4 u tho! :-)

  • I use my fingers to put in the baking soda

  • That's a really cute hairstyle. I am going to do a dry mini twist on my hair and then try that style...I will let you know how it turns out lol...Actually I will probably do a response video. Thanks for the idea I'm gonna have to rune with it lol.

  • you should try using a cup or something to consentrate the water next time

  • Your hair looks great!

  • I don't know about anyone else, but my eyes didn't see her use the baking soda on her hair but on her scalp.

  • Hey! Love your attemp. Have you tried water less shampoo. I know you can purchase it at the drug stores. Maybe that will help your scalp with the itch.

I use a spray bottle and a toothbrush. I dilute an anti-dandruff shampoo, tea tree oil, rosemary oil, olive oil and water. I part my hair then, spray my scalp with the solution and then use the toothbrush to scrub my scalp. Since the solution is diluted I do not rinse. I let my hair air dry. I do use clips to keep my stretch......

    Love!

  • @capria30 Im going to try this. I hope it works for me.

  • the pH in baking soda is too high for hair.....but whatever works for you :)

  • @pumpkinpoo1908 she only used it for her scalp though

  • @pumpkinpoo1908 she only used it for her scalp though

  • cute.

  • Love the end product...BEAUTIFUL

  • love it... I've neva done mini twists before but now ur tempting me.

  • thanks for posting what works and what doesnt work out for you.. other vloggers probably wldnt have posted it.. ty! :)

  • okay...I just thought about something! what if you use conditioning caps at the end of each braided section, then secure it with a rubber band? the wrap had a lot of crack and crevices for the water to leak in...but a cap with no holes....what you think?

  • have u heard of a product called "shea moisture" i think thats what its called or something like "oganic shea moisturizer"? i was thinking about trying it when i saw it in the store but i wasnt sure.

  • @tsaiyana the leave in is really good. its the only product from them i've tried. some other women i know rave about the line.

  • Im so glad you posted this vid because i have yarn braids up right now...cause my scalp is beyond fire..and i've only had them up a week. I will be trying.

  • maybe you could use a spray bottle to rise

  • did you use the hose attachment on the sink to rinse it?

  • This sounds ok but the baking soda's pH needs to be brought down. Way down. Water won't do the job. Need something more acidic like acv maybe.

  • love it..love it..i love it!! (^_^)

  • I love the braid out on ur twist!!

  • u are so creative and innovative.

  • nice try lol...maybe just find a way to keep them stretched while concentrating on washing the scalp, so even if the ends do get wet, they'll dry more stretch...IDK lol

  • I like it! baking soda is not bad on the scalp unless it's left on too long although it has a ph different than hair or skin. A toothbrush is not abraisive, no worse than mildly scratching your head with a fingernail.

  • Beautiful

  • Aren't you supposed to do an ACV rinse after baking soda to fix the PH? Baking soda is alkaline and hair should be acidic.

  • Gorgeous as always : )

  • they dont even look like twists o.o

  • what about just taking some water in a bottle with a nozzzle for a top, to rinse the scalp? that way you didnt have to put ur head directly under the water?

  • you always kno how to turn a disaster into a miracle...

  • Your hair always looks gorgeous and those earrings are fierce!

  • Whew I have to say that I am glad the plastic wrap didn't work. It looked complicated. :) The end result though was too pretty.

  • as soon as I saw you put that plastic on I was like, it aint gonna work, glad it didn't cuz the ending results were cute!

  • Oh! Lol and when I used the witch hazel I just put some on a cotton ball and rubbed it on my scalp.

  • Hey! An astringent might work to clean your scalp or remove buildup. I have used thayers witch hazel with rose water on my scalp before and it worked really well. And then you don't have to rinse and you wont have to wash your scalp. But I have only used it with my hair in braids...

  • tea tree oil is great for a itchy scalp !!!

  • try ors herbal cleanse its a dry shampoo

  • you're my favorite person to watch on youtube ;-)

I've been watching you since I've began trasitioning. Now i'm almost 3 years natural! that's a long time! keep up to good work!!!!

  • Would letting them air dry in the braids keep them from shrinking?

  • When I had braids and wanted to clean my scalp I would pour witch hazel on to my scalp. It stopped the itching "cleaned" my scalp & I didn't have to completely saturate the braids. Give it a shot & see how you like it.

  • Very pretty style even though it didnt go as planned. They came out good.

  • once your hair is dry pull them back and twist one big bun. it works great to stretch twists and hads a subtle lil wave/body to them.

  • Couldn't you just band them after you washed your hair?

  • Do you think if you roller wrapped it wet, and dried under a hooded it would retain more length?

  • SO...IDK how you feel but I LOVED the end results...lol...think ill try it in my hair. Congrats on makin TOP 5 VLOGGERS!!!

  • have you ever used dry shampoo? if so does it work? i just took out a braid out and the curls are so cute by I have loose gel and dandruff everywhere. would dry shampoo work or should I use this method

  • The end results were beautiful. I've wanted mini twists for a while now, but I have no patience for all of that twisting!

  • very pretty.

  • Congrats on being in the Top 5 Vloggers. OMGsh! I love love love the outcome! Are those mini twists tht you have in your hair? My hair isn't your length yet but there must be some human hair that I can add to my hair for a mini twist style like yours.. I'm looking to do a protective style like this for a while since my workouts will be pretty intense.

  • I wash my mini twists in braids too, except that I do a co- wash and that I don't wrap the braids up in a foil...have you tried that??

  • I use witchhazel and cotton balls. Simply part the hair and use it to clean your scalp. After add shea butter. It works...been doing it for years.

  • Comment removed

  • Try the Apple cider vinegar rinse with the baking soda next time. That also helps stop the itching as well. :o)

  • baking soda and lemon juice works as well.

  • Congrats on being listed in the top 5 vloggers!!! The crinkles turned out really cute!

  • nice end style, love the earrings

  • your earrings are hot!!! where did you get them?

  • I knew the plastic wouldnt work, cos it happen to me b4. Hair got wet lol. But u wont kno till u try tho, hey? Hehe.. Now i cant b bothered lol. A clean, breathing scalp is priority..

  • Wow unbelievable shrinkage right. Thanks for the info. I liked the results.

  • use brown sugar and olive oil

  • how did u wash your roots? did u use a hose attachment on the sink?

  • pretty!

  • I don't know if anyone told you, but, according to the huffington post, you are one of the top 5 natural hair vloggers =) Congrats!

  • @st1540sn i just saw it. Thanks. :)

  • Have you ever tried the banding method to avoid shrinkage after washing when your hair is twisted like that?

  • Oh my god that is a good idea.Where were you two weeks ago PrettyDimples lol kidding. Dangit to late for me tho this my last week for these things. Love the twist tho. Thanks for sharing.

  • They turned out cute crinkled. Nice tips

  • I use conditioner and water and dip the corner of a face towel in it and rub that on my scalp and to rinse I use the other corner of the towel and just water. Hope this helps

  • Pretty and shiny..

  • Even though the end result wasn't what you expected, the style was bangin! lol. Loved it. I gotta get some flexi-rods.

  • Atoothbrush and baking soda sounds very abrasive to me.

  • @KaleidoscopeIdeas agreed....i think a acv mixture would have been better

    baking soda crystals are abrasive

  • @KaleidoscopeIdeas baking soda dissolves....

  • @ideolojay The high PH levels are what makes it acid and thus abrasive, even if it dissolves the acidity can't be healthy for your scalp

  • @KaleidoscopeIdeas i agreeee!!!

  • @KaleidoscopeIdeas i Agree the high PH causes the hair to suck up way too much water making it lay limp thats why people say "it makes my hair so soft and manageable" it is almost in a really light way like a temporary texurized/relaxed feeling, But everyone likes different things for their hair

  • @IggyRins you watch a lot of kimmaytube dont you?

  • @AdjustedSubstance Lol i am subscribed to her channel but you dont have to watch her videos to know about PH Balance that information can be found on the internet just by google : )

  • @IggyRins obviously

  • @KaleidoscopeIdeas low pH levels are acidic. baking soda is at a 9, and is a gentle exfoliant.

  • @ideolojay the PH level of our hair is 4.5 and every number that u go up is equivalent t10,000 so baking soda having a PH of 9 makes is about 45,000x more alkaline than your hair. NOTHING over 7.5 PH and NOTHING under a PH level of 2.0 is good for hair. Oh and just so you know the average mild relaxer/texturizer has a PH level beetween 8.0 and 11.0. so if a mild relaxer white a PH of 8.0 to 11.0 isnt "Gentle" than baking Soda with a PH of 9.0 ISNT "GENTLE"

  • @IggyRins she's already used baking soda on her hair before and stated her hair texture has not changed at all.

  • @ideolojay i never said it would change her texture. just cus baking soda and texturizers have close PH levels dosn't mean that baking soda straightens your hair a texturizer has other ingredients that staighten your hair. but science show both are EXTREMELY harmful. And rest assured anything that can eat the grime and gunk off of your stove should NOT BE ON YOUR HAIR! baking soda is man-made and is a harsh chemical

  • @IggyRins she has 3 videos using it with no complaints. Also, you def. said to KaleidoscopeIdeas that it's "like a temporary texturized/relaxed feeling".

  • @ideolojay Lol yes it does give your hair a temporary soft feel and and i also said to each their owni am not tellin anyone how to care for their hair im jus tellin the truth, You cannot dissagree with what i said. These are not my opinions these are FACTS if you would just look it up you would know that i hate when people go around stateing things like "PH of 9 is a gentle cleanse" when is isnt its all their opinion and they Have no facts to support it

  • @IggyRins You don't know where I got my information from or what my opinion is because I have told you neither. She has made multiple videos using this, has not complained, and hasn't even responded here to what everyone is saying. She's an educated lady, so if it's "to each his own" then shut up about it. Bye.

  • @ideolojay Lol I gave you scientific proof you gave me a BULL response. And i only said "to each their own"because you can do what you want its not healthy but i cant make you stop.Yu clearly dont know what your talking about and I belive i sent you some videos on it and if you watched them you would know that. But some people like to stay Dumb, and if your not goin to give real answers with facts to back them than you should just " SHUT UP ABOUT IT "!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @IggyRins ..and you're still talking.

  • @ideolojay and your still replying and i still right

  • @KaleidoscopeIdeas Maybe use vinegar and baking soda, it should bubble up without a toothbrush. (Bronzegoddess did this on her locs) Hope that helps

  • @DariceHumphries I think the vinegar or baking soda alone should be fine, to each their own, I was just pointing out something I noticed.

  • @KaleidoscopeIdeas There are soft tooth brushes.

  • @rmcandlelight I think fingertips work fine enough to clean a scalp, even if they are soft.

  • i thought baking powder wasnt gud for ur hair?! but if ur going to was it out straight away its probably not that bad

  • lots of work
