  • I love the way she's dressed here ...this is how I like to dress !!

  • Just blowed my head set he he I got of stuff to give from the old days he he Your the best

    They were good ones Carp

  • Phew...I am absolutley lost for words how amazing this version is... it has always given me goosebumps and stirred emotion but this is so clean and sharp.

" Kate you are so magical...the lyrics and the unique manner in which you sing this is just so hauntingly beautiful"....

  • This is beautiful.

  • What an incredible revisioning of a classic song. KT takes it to new heights!

  • am i the only 18 years old girl who prefer Kate Bush than Katy perry / justin bieber / lady Gaga or whoever >.<

  • @ThePatriciaGem it can be annoying cant it i dont know half of what the rest of my class is on about if they ask me something i mumble something about kate bush or bob dylan and they snigger while i scurry away they are just silly

  • This recording/song will be around long after our comments and Youtube itself are not even a memory. In other words a true classic.

  • That would be class wouldn't it. Kate Bush,Amy Lee,Leona Lewis all together..x Kate is class.x

  • Incredible. This rework + some good headphones = a journey.

The added hindsight and emotion to the lyrics with the wisdom of experience gives this song another dimension which would have been impossible for a younger Kate in the original.

  • the ORIGINAL was fking perfect TBH

  • this goes so deep, it realy hurts. wonderful

  • I think people don't like this because they expect it to be the same song as the first time. I wonder if that's a reasonable expectation of an artisan like Kate.

If this was the original and she then released the Kick Inside version I'm sure that everyone would complain the same.

I can see it has very different ideas behind it. I'm sure i will learn to love it just like i learn to love all her work.

  • I like both versions. I think this would be great live. I wonder if the reason people don't like the re-worked versions is because she doesn't perform live often. Many artists never perform a song the same way twice.

  • i love how husky her voice has become <3

  • I feel like this song has an advantage over the original in that it no longer seems just about childbirth, or losing a partner unexpectedly. It has more of old age and regrets and memories in it. Of losing everyone you know to time and age and finding yourself the last one still here... you know?

  • I think it was brave of Kate to put out a different version of one of her best ever songs.I have to say that I initially approached listening to this with almost trepidation but I love this version !

  • Not close to her original. Love Kate, but this is somewhat ... Downgraded. Go look for the original video and have a good cry. Im a grown man and i nearly cry every time ... nearly. Gotta keep up appearances people.

  • Kate Lost her Touch...

  • Most of us were too young to comprehand what was happening the first time this released in the UK - Then we started to lose friends and suddenly we understood these lyrics - HIV/AIDS is still with us - although infaction is no longer a death sentence - its important hough the message is still out there as we do not want teh generation coming up behind us not to understand - Its teh world responsibles to protect - forget the politics - keep the message alive

  • @trevortreva2008 care to tell me when this song was ever about AIDS? It's totally unrelated...

  • This is an absolutely stunning rework. She is without doubt one of the best singer/songwriter/composer/producers of all time.

  • how do you improve on perfection? answer you can't! you can only open into something else, this is a deeper level than anything i would've believed.

  • Simpli in awe of this woman...Kate Bush is phenomenal. This re-working of an old classic is stunning!!

  • She s just fantastic as an artist , just beautiful as a woman ...love u Kate .

  • This is a stunning so beautiful so moving performance of the song. The original was very moving but some how she takes it to another level. Anyone who has lost some one or is losing someone can feel this song as it is so honest and down to earth and ironically that is Kate Bush. She is the real deal from Wuthering Heights to this there is an integrity that can touch your very soul.

  • the version maxwell is the better

  • At first glance, I thought I was looking at Boy George cira '1981!! lol

  • @ricchardo Do you really wanna hurt her? lol!

  • love it again wow

    kisses for the great kate

  • I have followed Kate's work since 1985 and loved all her albums.....but....this is bloody awful. When an artist returns to previously released work to re-interpret, revisit, remix, or just to supposedly update it...its not a good sign. The original is better. Always will be. Kate, leave your back catalog alone and get on with new material.

  • @GINGERALER What right do you have to tell a creative artist not to be creative? Did you write this song? This is a nice take on the original to my ears, if any new artist was to come out with this song, it would be considered an absolute masterpiece. Stick with the original if you prefer, no one is forcing you to like anything.

  • wow,

    so amazin beautiful

    the song an so kate

  • Wow, Kate is still so beautiful! xx

  • Loved the original but this takes things to another level. So emotional but not corny, trite or overblown. When she sings 'make it go away' really gets me, so real.

  • amazing/unique as always

  • DAMN! it's nice to hear something fresh and in pop music! She's not some plastic "diva" with a freak boyfriend, sticking her ass in your face and being auto-tuned, she's not some depressed gal with an acoustic guitar, she's just a outrageously talented woman with a killer voice who writes songs HERSELF! DAMN! Go, girl...

  • very melancholy and mystical. kind of hitting my heart in a place that needs to be touched right now as I am feeling blue. she's quite an extraordinary human being. would love to speak with her in person, or just watch her as she creates her work. but i'll settle for having the gift of listening to her music.

  • i think the directors cut is fine, but it would be better served as a bonus disc with the next album, as i don,t really think any of these new versions come close to the originals.

  • wonderful love franciepart

  • I love the warmth in Kate's voice these days and the intimacy of the production, it's as if she's in the room with me, wrapping me up in a cozy blanket.

  • Very clever indeed, another superb masterpiece, how proud of Kate are we and that she is a true Brit !!

  • Hello there kamasikaja! Could you tell me if the photo you used for the song here is a new one or not? It's definately a more mature Kate and I've never seen it before, but I suppose it could also be a promotional photo from the Aerial days too. Would appreciate an answer, thank you.

  • @Cyrus2182 Yes it is new, there is a photo book that comes with the deluxe version of Directors Cut. She is still ravishing as these new pics will attest.

  • @RideHanna Yes, she looks great, this is my favourite track from DC so far.

  • @Cyrus2182

this is the new one , from The Irish Time The Ticket cover

  • I love you,Kate!AMAZINK!x

  • Why exactly does 'alternative take' mean 'ruined' to some people? The original still exists. There's no issue.

  • Absolutely wonderful!

  • Stunning.

  • Hauntingly beautiful and incredibly moving...but I just love the original so much!!!

  • All bloody hail! Magic!

  • Although the lyrics are the same as with the original album-version, this sounds almost like a brand new song. What remains equal to the past is that she puts a lot of emotion in her singing. She is not just singing a song like a routine job, she takes the role of the person(s) in the song. Kate keeps on to surprise people and to be herself. I like the intimist and pure touch of the song.

  • ruined

  • @teamcc123456tt agreed origional all the way!!!

  • Haunting, love it!

  • <3

  • wow

  • stunningly beautiful

  • Phenomenal. You can hear the whole album right now on the NPR site!

  • Thx so much !
