RB splits the parts of the song apart into different instruments to make all the notes come together with, you know, friends. GH just sticks a bunch of them into the same chart because it's harder.

I play with my friends, so it's a hell of a lot more fun that way. But that's what RB does best. Still, it's an awesome feeling when you all can FC Foreplay/Long Time on Expert.

I'm not sure really which games I like more. Rock Band has realistic graphics, and charts, but Guitar Hero's song lists are always bigger, and they have better song selections. Guitar Hero makes you play bass notes sometimes, and keyboard. ( for Instance Through the Fire and the Flames opening on GH3. ) Lego Rock Band was enjoyable though because of the custom characters and band names you can always change. The one thing I didn't like about LRB was how long it took to get back to the main menu.

Harmonix made guitar hero 1 and 2. Activision wanted to milk Guitar hero(see star cameos to sell game) and harmonix wanted to expand it. Activision dropped them so they took their idea to EA. If anything Rockband is the true successor to GH.
