@soulful1illusion there is a portion of this mix that is taken from starwars by meco. I'm certain of it because I used to juggle that same part of the meco record. I've had it dice it's release in the late 70s early 80's it's un mistakeable when you begin to hear r2d2 begin to squelch.
Besides Charlie Chase , This dude here was about the sickest DJ to me. We saw them as Superheros... the same way others had hero's we had these cats as peeps we wanted to be. I got my first look at Wiz Kid when he was cuttin hell lose while the "Herculoids (and kool Herc)" were on the Mic. Thats a clissic Wiz Kid Tape. He is Sick with his and Peeps dont give him his props. Icon never talked about. Peace always to Wiz Kid.
@samson10000 video? jeez! what I'd give to see that, if you ever consider converting it up and posting then some of us would really appreciate it (I say 'some' of us. you know how it is..haha)
RIP Whiz Kid, Whiz is my Fave DJ right behind Flash,he was reeeal smooth and he used the tables like an instrument you dont believe me,go listen to Play That Beat, then listen to Scratch Goes My Dub Whiz scratched sounds nobody thought of and made them sound like instruments. In Scratch goes my Dub 1:10-1:36 sounds like a bass guitar,I remember not knowing it was a DJ word is bond.Imperial Bros We Dub to Scratch, all of that Whiz man you killed it baby and we really miss you big homey Peace,Dee
Thanks for the post. I go way way back in the days when hip hop was the game we played. Much props to DJ Whiz Kid. Please everybody listen to his live scratch routines and the track with MC GLOBE called "Play That Beat" released in 1983
Flash made scratching known to the world on 'The Adventures of Grand Master Flash on The Wheels of Steel' in 1981 where you been? Im wit you Horus, joints like these are what taught me how to cut and scratch.Thank God for Whiz Flash,Chuck,Scratch On Galaxy,Vicious Lee, Jazzy J, and all the cats that made scratch records during this period dont sleep on Chase, he puit work in on 'Fresh Wild,Fly and Bold Peace to all the pioneers. Eastwest I dont think Whiz was on 'Icant Stop,' DJ Scott I think.
Agreed. The first time I was blessed to hear Whiz Kid was when I heard 'Play That Beat'. That record has sooo much style. When it came out, I studied his cuts like math, lol!!! In terms of DJ records from that during that period....the other significant one for me was DJ Chuck Chillout's ' Hip Hop On Wax, Vol 1.
Damn, I thought I heard all of the old school joints but now I'm hearing shit I ain't never heard before. What are the title of these records he's spinnin' and cutting up?
