  • Gautier, you are the best, DO ME, and never change !!

  • Very sweet

  • the head on yerman lol

  • that viola is fucking huge

  • the cellist is about to sneeze !

  • Those criticizing Gautier's style of performing probably don't even know the difference between a violin and a viola in this piece. The insecure always have to knock others.

  • Gautier is so handsome! Only the French can be so fetching.

  • there's a great ninja trick for turning the c string to a bflat: tune with the peg to a bflat and then use the fine tuner to go to C, then in the performance just unscrew the fine tuner all the way, and voila! a magical low b flat from nowhere with no tuning during the viola solo.

  • capucon is just LISTENING, guys. he's not hamming it up or trying to show off, just concentrating and immersing himself in the music.

  • Gautier Capucon me

  • @zigeunerviolin Genius. GENIUS

  • omg he so georgeous! xD

  • @NymphetamineVille I KNOW RIGHT?!?!?!!? BEAUTIFULLLL

  • Just saw him this evening, amazing cellist. Love how expressive he is, it shows just how much he loves to play. I've always appreciated musicians who show emotion during performances. I admire it when they can play a piece that's been practiced hundreds of times and still be moved by it.

  • i really used to admire gautier capuçon, but the longer the more he's acting off, which is quite a pity.

i guess just listening to him isnt as annoying as watching him.

  • @viola989 acting off?? are u saying he's not really playing??

  • There are definitely problems with tuning the string down, and yes, there are other options, not of which are ideal, but I still think it's worth it for that low B flat!

  • LOL

  • The cellist is supposed to tune down his C string on the last, long B flat of the piece. Mr. Capucon chooses not to although it sounds really cool with that low octave.

  • few cellists like to do that. but the ones that do bring major balls to the table

  • I am certain that no matter what I were to say at this point, someone would take issue with it...as there are those on YT who simply make taking issue an art....you may continue to address people formally or however you wish..this is an informal forum..not Strad Magazine..this is a chatty discussion...

  • Yes MB, there are those that would make issues of nothing..as usual your assessment is correct and most complimentary to these musicians. Indeed, you are correct that this IS a casual discussion and where we have such few words, using kid for young man was just fine dear...continue to bless us with your fine insight.

  • Robert Schumann, Quartet for Violin, Viola, Violoncello and Piano in E-flat Major, Op. 47 --III. Andante cantabile.

  • I think the cellist plays really well and not sure what it is he did that made him appear so vain--it just seems to me that he is listening with extreme intensity to his own instrument, which most musicians need to do--often people will close their eyes and askew their faces in order to focus on their hearing. The kid is a fine cellist and not bad looking, so good for him--I wish him well!

  • Be gentle and courteous to a major artist of our time. The kid has already made some CDs with EMI some years ago. Gautier Capucon is a frequent performer at the Verbrier Festival !

  • Did I say something construed as not courteous or not gentle? Please re-read my comment where I am correcting another person who called him vain and I replied to that comment...my comment is most complimentary.

  • So what exactly is your point? Ms Moonbeam offers a valid and lovely comment: in my association she has been kind and respectful to all artists and always has interesting and valued insights to offer: Ms Moonbeam is the soul of courteousness..as she points out, this is a CASUAL chat, not formal..her use of the word kid in this forum is not discourteous at all. She always speaks glowingly of these two artists and all of her comments are upbuilding. You have been wrongly judgmental sir.

  • Maybe he is listening intensely, but I think the reason why people perceive him to be vain here is because of too many facial expressions that are mimicking the music, sort of telling the viewer what to feel instead of letting the music speak for itself. When musicians make gratuitous facial expressions or body movements it looks like they're saying "Oh my God I'm so good, I just love myself so much!"

  • Good contrast of how the older artists don't need all the "showbiz" to produce good music, compared to the young cellist. What a showdog.

  • could you please add a Op. number for the piece, in order to recognize it better?

  • The cellist does way too much. It would sound just as good if he didnt do all that

  • ACCARDO?????MEIN GOTT!!!!!!!!

  • wow! can that cello player look any more vain?!

  • yea its annoying

  • I've never heard this before. It's stunning and so full of beautiful harmonies!

  • Great cello! Great cellist! Listened to him live a few times, really in control. But full of mimics, I dont buy them. I dont know, think he would sound great without the "extra" effort.

  • the pianist has yoda hands XD

  • brilliant work to start at the viola solo, they do a beautiful ending

  • me,Rahan, Crao's son..I need to keep my hairs at top level.

  • Great.

  • Indeed, there are both a violin and a viola in this piece !

  • is'nt that a viola not a violin?
