As for a sequel cutting about 50% of the old aliens... Hrrm... I think after all this time if such a game was actually made it might well split the old fans in half over it. (Plus so much time has passed, could a modern game truly get the old SC2 feel again? I'm... skeptical.)
Mind you I'd try a sequel certainly, but I'm still skeptical, even with the original writers at the helm. I'm honestly just not sure if I want a sequel anymore myself.
I loved the Horde when I was younger. It was the reason why I bought an MPEG Accelerator card for my computer. I still have the game, it's great, although I don't have the MPEG card, so I don't know if it works. I remember buying the Floppy version first, and it was great, so I purchased the CD-ROM version and I was disappointed with the music. It isn't the same. The floppy game music is way cool MOD music like Star Control II
Great Chat! The Star Gods drink? Awesome, the pan galactic gargle blasters are on me.:)
The quote made me feel weird, i've always wanted to design stuff, and people always asked about that "third part" as if it was the most important thing. Left me confused.
Great interview as usual Matt. I totally forgot about full motion video. Hopefully they keep it off the shelf until a holodeck becomes more economical :) Surprised about the X-Com tidbit as well. The creator of one of my all time favourite games also plays another one on that same list (its a short list). Btw, you are one of the few that have pronounced my last name correctly, so thank you! Cheers and I hope you enjoyed it :)
@marcusmalone Yeah. I think the biggest problem was that Hollywood has a rigid way of doing business (all the unions and such), and it was just too much for game devs coming at it from the outside. Some of them even used their office staff to fill the roles instead!
@blacklily8 haha. Thanks for the response Matt. For some reason, responses aren't coming through to my yahoo email anymore so I only just realised I was getting responses!
@Crackpot25 Yeah, me too. Luckily, I noticed several of these authors in a book of short stories I recently purchased (Mars Probes). Reading one by Alastair Reynolds right now that's pretty funny.
What Kirk Cameron is doing?
Holding up pictures of crocoducks and playing with Ray Comfort's banana. That's what Kirk Cameron is doing...
And a Star Control 4? More like an Ur Quan Masters II, considering Star Control 3 is not and shall never be canon.

Part of it was that the acting and scripts etc was characteristically awful in FMV games!

Man, working with Activision is like shooting yourself in the foot. I hope they can get their game out.
