because on tour this song happens in the courtroom and elle isn't out of the room when he says 'what about love...' so it's much more dramatic so elle knows that he loves her.

They changed it in the tour because on Broadway Elle closes her door and they sing to each other on opposite sides of the door to eachother. On tour, they are singing to eachother in the court room. They still kind of do what I call the "soap opera" turn your back thing, but it plays better and is more emotional now that it is restaged so they are singing face to face so to speak.

they've changed lots of lyrics in the tour...

has changed to: "omigod omigiod you guys, fashion crisis to supervise"

"violence is never wise, not the way to win back guys, any way she's twice my size"

has changed to :

"violence aint Delta Nu, And I dont know what she might do, anywayy she knows kungfu"

DB Bonds also changed one of his lines, but I think it was more of an improv, then an actual change, but I thought it was a lot funnier. Instead of saying "Emmett Forrest, class of '05...represent" he goes "Emmet Forrest, class of '05...HOLLA!"

they no longer have a door/partition separating them at that point, so they're still in the same room :-)

because the set is different for the touring production, so elle never goes to her room, she's in callahan's office the whole time so it wouldn't make sense.
