"....its very important to understand, that democracy is not elections, elections are necessary but not sufficient as a condition for democracy...." wat a important he put forward
Was going to yield when he dissed Bush? This guy must have been a Bush supporter. He was going to yield? FTW? When Barack Obama is elected and the advertisment industry give Barack an award for his campaign. Massive state resources what the wall street bailout.
No difference Barack Obama is still the head of the Empire. Imperialism is live and well just look at Iraq, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Cuban Embargo, Gaza, the support of Israel, Puerto Rico occupation. So you must consider the massive wall street funding to Barack Obama campaign Democracy?
How is the Venezuelan Oil Company no longer admired when Venezuela Oil Company supplied most of the poor neighborhoods in the U.S. This was when Oil prices where sky rocketing?
Barack Obama can do what Bush did scare the shit out of congress and even tell them that he would enforce marshall law! Thats what I am talking about the nice levers of each branch. Congress unable to Impreach Bush. This is proof of the great levers of branches in America.
President Bush owes Chavez and apology for trying to overthrow him. That had some benifets and the dynamic change is that Latin America is no longer the U.S. backyard! Imperialist!
Barack Obama placed Mr. Giethner who ran the IMF and was involved heavily in Wall Street. Whats the different dynamic? Tell me when Barack failed to incriminate Bush but Spain has. Barack Obama same stance against Iran, same shit in the Middle East..look at Hillary Objectives in Lebanon again trying to influence democracy Western style here let me go here you guys vote this guy we demand it! You don't vote how we like we will invade you! You don't like our policies will bomb you!
There are 2 types of universities here. Expensive ones and almost-free ones. The almost-free ones have always existed, even before chavez came to power, and the expensive ones, are hard for a poor family to afford, but low class students can study there because theres something called sponsors or scholarships (I dont know how is spelled in english) but its something that is paid by a state entity (not national state chavez entity), but regional state. Let me explain to you in the next post...
For example, I live in Zulia state. Our former governor, Manuel Rosales (who chavez is trying to put in jail), has provided thousands and thousands of these sponsors or scholarships or whatever its called ("becas" in spanish) to many poor students. So they can study in expensive universities. In other words, the zulian state (that opposites chavez and its governor is from the opposition) PAYS their studies. Not chavez. So this way thousands of low class students can study...
Have in mind that the "expensive ones" are the private owned universities. And the "almost-free" are the state owned. Now, these "state owned" are divided by two. The ones that belong to chavez and the ones that belong to the regional state (Zulia in this case, in other words to a opposition governor). Now, the ones owned by chavez are so crappy that nobody studies there, low quality, crap teachings, etc...
On the other hands there ones that belong to the regional state (Zulia in this case) are somewhat of good quality in terms of teachings, but students dont have to pay anything to study there.
Thats why most students are not from middle/upper class like you make it believe. These types of "free universites" have always existed. Chavez has nothing to do, and the ones that are actually owned by chavez are crappy nobody goes there due to low quality class. so....
So why the hell would any of these students be thankful to chavez if they are being provided free college by the regional state? (that happens to be in oposition to chavez), and to make things worst, chavez is attacking the former governor (trying to get him in jail) and actual governor (both opposition) that are providing these free college to these low class students. See what I mean?. We have nothing to thank chavez for.
In conclusion, low class students can study in both private (expensive) and state owned (free) universities thanks to the regional state and not to chavez. Since those state owned universites like "Universidad del Zulia" have always existed.
Once again, SHUT THE FUCK UP and stop talking shit you dont know about. I welcome YOU to come here to Venezuela and get into a university and talk to the students and see for yourself. The students are against chavez for a good reason.
Your Man Manuel Rosales is Curropt Politicain who was being charged for Curroption--not for opposing chavez, he is signature of the your favorite dicitaro for a Day Perdo Carmoda, so he is Golpista too, but he was still alloud to govern Zulia & run agaist chavez in the national election only to see his ass get kick by 37% points---certified free & fair by all internationl election oberservers!
Jose those "almost free" universites still have tuitions that most kids living in the Barrios can't affors to pay, & until recetnly had an admissions systems which made sure that kids from Barrios stay out of the univeristy system. And these schalorships you talk about were olny given to small minority of students! But it is different today, because admissions systems are changing! This does't mean thing are rosy today--much needs to improvebut it's still better than before!
You know something is wrong when you have most of the students against your government. Im a student myself and I can tell you that even though the national support for chavez is split 50-50, in the universities its like 80-20 against chavez. The students know chavez is a disgrace for our future and we DO NOT support him.
That's probably because most of the university students are from the middle and upper classes. They're too busy worrying about their trust funds and inheritances to care about the rest of the country.
thats ridiculous. You dont know shit about what you are talking about.
There are hundred of thousands (if not a million or so) of university students in Venezuela. So are you telling me all of them are middle/upper class? when in fact the middle and upper classes only make like 15% of the population?.
Wow you are one ignorant idiot. Perfect example of a troll that has no knowledge of what hes are talking about.
oH please shtu up youa re more worreid about your trust funds and inheratances, which is why yoru reacting the way you do! Your the one who is in ignorant idiot! Your the troll that doesn't know what he is talkign baout, and living in venezuela--which I do too & I'm forming a diffrent but a more informed & intelegent opion than you--doesn't equate to knowing what is really goin on becuase you living in yoru country club bubble!
In other words, let me add, MOST students in this country are from the low classes. Like I said, middle/upper class make only like 15% of the population. Most people are low class, so are the students.
You people refuse to accept chavez is a fraud. Its easy to support him when you live outside Venezuela and are not affected by his policies and when you dont know whats really going on.
So your saying that most of the people who live in the barrios can somehow afford college tuition? That is unless university education is provided for free in Venezuela and if that's the case, I just don't see how all of those students from poor families could hate Chavez for providing that. No I don't live in Venezuela, but by your logic, if you told me that Chavez was eating babies, I would have to take your word for it cause I don't live there.
Listen I live in Venezuela & all I can say is this guy who yoru debating is a nut case like a Zionist, or a Feminist or Pro-homosexual activists or a Anti-homosexual guy a Pro-USA guy --He is party man who can't take it to look at things truthfully and he is very facistic attitude about other people POV! Take it form me there are two reason why chavez is winnign elections:1.His programs are popular 2. He keep proving what underheads the oppostion are & there fore no real alternative!
Excellent point. Chavez could be a sait, but the fact that he does his upmost to hinder democracy and fari open elections proves he shouldn't be given support from any democratic country.
To be honest with you I am a little concerned right now that he has just decided to side with the gov't of Iran on the istuation with Iran thinking Iran is just like venezuela when it's not. But Venezuela still is very much a democractic society. We do have a crime problem, but it think our Drink'drink'drink'screw'screw'screw like monkeys / child child child culture has more to blame for thisw situation than chavez inaction.
NOw I just wanted to tell you another thing, things in Venezuela are much much more complex than any Chvista or the that oppostion nutter woudl try and paint for you! But to utterly ignore & brush aside & descredit the good things that have happened is comepltely unfair. I woudl like to see him do mroe to tackle curroption--especailly with in his supposed supporters & Crime, plus many of theother laws that the NA is passing he is signging them without realizing that they can be used for abuse
Ah no sorry get your facts straight it's no 50-50, it's very much 60-40, 65-35 in favor of chavez, and in the university it's the samethings, yoru looking at Globovisions datas and your watc hing too much private TV! Even todays Televen & Veneivison will laugh at your stats!
Im from Venezuela and also live here and I can tell you Chavez is a son of a bitch who wins by cheating and using scaring tactics. Btw Evan Golinger an expert? lol she is a stupid communist bitch who always is sucking chavez balls everytime she speaks. She doesnt know shit. You guys who dont live here shouldnt talk. Chavez has destroyed the future of most people in this country, especially the poor.
Oh and btw take a look at Chavez family, they are now living like kinds and royals. They used to be poor, now they are one of the most wealthiest families in Venezuela. Talking about corruption and hipocresy. Chavez says being rich is bad, yet he and his family live like rich oligarchs themselves. You people are dumb if you believe in chavez´s words.
Your really dumb to belive RCTV & Globovision, show proof that they are curropt! I think many peopel in the gov't are curropt but so far all the investigation of curroption hasn't pointed any figured at him or his family, but many of his opportunistic deputies and cabin memebrs & national assembly members. But the shit smeels worst in cirlces where you folks are ruling! So please Think of a plan--beyond getting rid chavez if you want support!
Oh Please, I live in venezuela too! And I don't agree with you! The future of the poor in this country is risen and theya re much better off that you favorite president Carlos Andres Perez. IF he was gonna have this jack ass thief on the shows at least balance it otu with Eva golinger, --I'm not saying I agree with her or everything going on since chavez has come to power, but this programs needs to be balanced not one sided. But you keep oroving that the oposition is a bunch of facists!
OK you guys I think I know why Al-jazeera is so anti-chavez & treis to discredit his democratuic credentials---Thier bureau chief for the Americas is someone named Will Stebbins and an articel he wrote on November 11,2008 regarding Obama's election:" Congratulations on the historic US election result have been rolling in for... from both friend and foe alike. There was even a note from Hugo Chavez,..., who is better known for insulting the occupant of the White House."-Hope U got the clue now!
When will Al Jazeera host a SERIOUS expert on Venezuela? Where's Eva Golinger? Greg Grandin? Noam Chomsky etc. etc.? They seem to do serious reporting on every subject except this one.
Noam Chomsky an expert on Venezula. The guy is a Linguist. Yes he's a smart and interesting guy, but to say what you said and then say Chomsky is just silly. The guy they picked worked closly with the government who has first hand accounts of the going on's in that country. But no your right a Linguist is more relevant.
I totally agree---I think one of the reason they seem to have such an anti-chavez stand is becuase the editor in cheaif for latin-america doesn't like chavez, the reporter Marian Sanchez has done many reports on teh good thinghs going on in venezuela, but those clips don't mkae the cut because the Editor in cheif doesn't want chavez tobe portryed in apositive way. I think that is the reason. Let me is I can find his name for you:
This guy is responsible for the PAQUETAZO, a neoliberal agenda which provoked one of the bloodiests revolts in our time: EL Caracazo. 20 years ago, more than 1000 people dissapeared under state violence to protect private property. People were looting food but also other good denied to them for decades of the so called "democracy" of the 4th republic.
obama's war policy is no different to what bush's policy was which was more and more bloodshed so sorry hes not my president! i dont affiliate with him! chavez on the other hand ROCKSSSS!!!!
i'm faithfull obama will be a good president for the us. maybe he could learn how to speak to the public still more with his heart and not only with his brain. chavez speaks more with his heart and that's what makes him so charismatic. at least i have the impression he's an honorouble man who means the best with his people even when he also will make inevitable mistakes as we all human beïngs tend to do.
Yup the guy who hates homosexuals and has no concerns about being democratic ensuring personal freedoms or giving socialism a good name. Chavez rocks indeed.
This talkinghead is a tool, a neocon apologist and disgruntled member of the party out of power.
It's sad that the host failed to once ask for evidence to show how Venezuela is not a democracy. It sounds as pathetic as the GOP complaining that there is no bipartisanship.
The Us president was Insulting him from the get go, the US presidents insult leader from all over the wolrd, he hasbeen comapred to Hitler since day 1, & when he responds by calliung BUSH the devgeil that he is he is being viewed as insulting the US president WDF is the US president anyways be bush or be uncle tom Obama!
It really does seem like this guy is part of the opposition -not at all interested in lifting up the poor- and not too close to neutral either. I do think Chavez has opened the door to being an autocratic dictator with this vote, and I didn't think that before.
He was lying out his teeth. CHavz doesn't contorl the national assmebly--th national assembly is very autonomous--thye idiot oposition thought thye can discredit venezuelas democratic system by boycotting the last legistlative election & they got screwed over in the end.THe national assymbly is mostly chavez suypporter becuase the opposition didn't participate & they paid the price for it.Supreme court is also autonomous. Secondly it doesn't open the door to autocratic rule becuase :.....
becuase he will still besubject to recalls--subject to re-elections subject to primaries within his own parties--& even subject to the consitution & the countries courts. So their are many hceck & balances in the constitution this is a participaroty democracy we are living in here in venezuela right now.
about "18,000 oil workers getting fired by chavez because they didn't support him." IS A LIE, I know plenty of chavez haters that work for PDVSA, these 20,000 workers where particiapting in the covert activity of sabotoging the oil INdustry of venezuela to bring her economy to its knees & over-throw chavez. It was a management lock-out, in any democrcy if state workers participated in a sabatoge to overthorw a democractically elected leader they woudl be fired & jailed. Here they just got fired
"European leaders don't use state resources to win elections"? Is he drunk? and these "state resources" that Chavez used, in the last part he said it was just mobilizing the people who benefited from his policies the most. He's really stretching to demonize Chavez, it's quite sad...
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
he said "massive use of state resources" and he is absolutely correct. It takes a lot more thought to actually openm your mind and listen to the expert than to discount him because you're another ignorant Chavez fan boy. Demonizing Chavez doesn't require any stretching, try talking to a Venezuelan. I have and she made me want to cry as she asked why nobody from the west would save Venezuela or help them. What's really sad is how many peon supporters Chavez can get by simply bashing Bush.
You talked to one Venezuelan, and then made an extrapolation based on that conversation - and determined what the majority Venezuelans think of Chavez - ignoring the various elections over the past decade. I was chatting with a Palestinian the other; he must think quite highly of Americans.
Yeah, and I was talking to a Belgian who was concinved there's life on the moon, so I guess all Belgians think that!
Perhaps zutroy1's mythical Venezuelan was from the upper class or upper middle class who hate that Chavez has hurt their capitalist hegemony? same for the anti-Castro people from Cuba, not very reliable narrators!
you talk about democracy while holding a gun and sanctions against anyone who votes against americas interests and subverting any contries democracy if its in americas interests stop being so sanctimonious and let other countries develope there own strategies to deal with their own problems

obama's war policy is no different to what bush's policy was which was more and more bloodshed so sorry hes not my president! i dont affiliate with him! chavez on the other hand ROCKSSSS!!!!

i'm faithfull obama will be a good president for the us. maybe he could learn how to speak to the public still more with his heart and not only with his brain. chavez speaks more with his heart and that's what makes him so charismatic. at least i have the impression he's an honorouble man who means the best with his people even when he also will make inevitable mistakes as we all human beïngs tend to do.

I heard nothing more than reactionary SOP.

Good serious interview . . . but. . .

This comment has received too many negative votes show
he said "massive use of state resources" and he is absolutely correct.

You talked to one Venezuelan? You respect her opinion a lot more than the millions who came out to vote in this referendum? ... oy
justjeshb 2 years ago 3
