  • Someone is heavily banding them...(scientists?) And this is why I think they are friendly to people. Because they have to be banded as babies...so they remember that they can trust ppl. I saw a video about them recently on tv. It said that they forage acorns and fool other rival birds into thinking they are stashing their acorns in a place, only to go and hide them in a separate location. (acorns are highly regarded and not available in winter, so they try very hard to hide these from others).

  • Very nice hand-held video of this specimen. Thank you for sharing! I miss our scrub jays.

  • You are so LUCKY!!!!!!

     :D

  • @cheesygoodness55 I agree. It is wonderful to walk outside each day and have them come to us. It is a shame they are endangered due to habitat loss. The FL scrub must be saved or we will lose the Scrub Jay.

  • How did you gett the birds to trust you?

  • @modeling4Fashion, it is almost instinctual. More than likely, it is a trait they learn from their parents. Even so, it sometimes takes a fledgling several weeks before they will take food from a human.

  • I bet they taste good too...

  • @dowserus Only to you GA boys. LOL

  • Great video!

  • @SeanWrenn Thanks.
