I've been bulding things up since I was about 14 (seriously since I was about 19). 25 now. Here's a piece of advice that will help you: Don't cut corners! Spend money for quality. If that means you have to wait a little longer, that's okay. At least you won't have to go through and replace everything later! I've done this and it sucks.

Yeah. She doesn't work very well on my mic chain. This year, I'm putting her on something from the Heil PR series paired with a DBX 286A. I also plan to move my AT4040 to a 286A and pair a Sennheiser MKH-416 with my Focusrite.

The Symetrix isn't my favorite. It has it's strong points, though. I love the EQ on the 528E, and the de-esser works nicely. I HATE the expander on it, and the compression and preamp aren't my favorite. Nothing really wong with either one, just not my taste. I know some guys that absolutely swear by it though.
