I saw pics of this in Car Craft. Nuts and cool at the same time. I'd do it, but I don't have that kind of money. 468 CID AMC/ Indy Heads block and 200hp shot of nitrous in a gremlin will make you think that there maybe, just maybe a such thing as too much horsepower. Not! Looks fun.

Soft rear suspension is how you make a Gremlin launch, and launch hard.

I've spoken with Brian Ambrosini a few times on the set up of my 8.5' Gremlin, and from what I understand (which is a lot, to say the least) it's set up the same as when he takes it racing in the Pro Street Class, minus his wheelie bars.

Also, incase no one else caught this, he had a common problem among N2O launchers, a so-called "Nitrous Burp"

you can hear it. he revs it. pops clutch rpm's go below idle, and because its a carbureted engine, it doesn't have a MAF so it cant adjust its A/F ratio. the engine burns way rich, floods the carbs, and backfires through the INTAKE ports. and there is no such thing as nitrous intake ports. nor is it possible to backfire through a nitrous port. that would cause a huge explosion.

plus all nitrous oxide manufacturers have to be certified by many different departments and branches before they can start selling them to public. like FCAA, NHRA, DOT (thats for street use), IHRA, TFOA, and a shit load more. yes it takes balls of solid steel bigger than an exercise ball to do what he does. and i wasn't talking shit. if you could read properly all i said was it was a backfire out of head ports. thats not shit talking. Short wheelbase cars lift REAL easily. I remember some cars (funny cars?) tried running with holes in the floor and individual brakes for left and right wheels.

The "Wheel Standers" ran holes in the floor and steering brakes and part of the competition was to stay on the rear wheel. the whole 1/4 mile . Look it up on the net , some of the famous cars were , LA Dart , The Red Barron , Chevy Rebelion and The Fugitive . The Fugitive was a Corvette that had the engine in the rear and I saw it beat the other Wheel standers at CDR Castle Rock, CO in 1970 or 71 .

Yeah Car Craft had a Engine spread on him in one of their mags a year or so ago. Its a Aluminum Indy AMC block and tons of work done to it.

The car more than likely weighs 2000#'s and has something like 12-1300hp.
