I think this is from a 70's Special that aired on ABC back in the early 90's. I think Meatloaf, KC & The Sunshine Band, The Stylistics, it was so long ago plus it was never re-aired. I wonder if this is it.
Yes This was from a special that aired in 1993 called:
"A 70's Celebration, The Beat is Back'!......I was KC's road manager.KC Actually introduced: Gloria 1st (she sang "Never Can Say Good-Bye")Then Vicki-Sue, Then Thelma...And The Clip You just saw was actually the ending of that whole sequence when the 3 Diva's all joined together. Gloria NEVER HAD THE VOCAL RANGE THELMA HAS. I know Thelma Well and Her Voice-Coach in LA is Donna Summer's as well.
WOW!!! Very great song, a TRUE Classic. I love Gloria Gaynor, she had a very strong powerful warm voice. Love this song too. Although it's first released in 1978 but until now I listen to this day it never old. A true time Classi. I Love it! Thanks for posting.
I disagree. Gloria Gaynor was crowned the Queen of Disco back in early 1975 before Vickie Sue, Thelma, or Donna Summer even jumped on the Disco bandwagon. I think Gwen McCrae and Carol Douglas were the only solo female acts with Disco hits at the time. Gloria was queen even before Diana Ross decided to jump on the Disco bandwagon.
I was there for that taping .... Have to say, Gloria was wonderful, Vicki was dreadful and did a horrible job screaming out that song (may she rest in peace), Thelma Houston looked great, sounded great. The two top acts for that night were Donna Summer and the Bee Gees- so much fun.
I've always been a fan of the song but watching this video makes me realise that the song's got a very powerful concealed energy! Peps, it's been unraveled!!! Thumbs up!!*dances*
unbelievable, you know the song but imagine watching gloria sing it live, like she did on donahue for a '73 class reunion, the guestscould'nt believe what was going on when she walked out!
the energy here sweeps me away! it is great seeing all the young women in thje audience getting so emotional and dancing as the three disco divas perform this classic! very moving.
Wow....what a fabulous, high energy perfomance by these disco divas! I love it! RIP VSR.
