That helmut would not stop an armour peircing bullet that the communist used. All that you would hear is tic tic and then your balls would be gone. LOL B Co. 2/1 196th LIB Americal Div. 1970-71
Zeek you may not have been there really but you helped me to be a better Grunt, and I was there. Not in Nam of course, but Iraq. I always tried to be like you & you played the role of a damn good NCO. For a guy never having served, you couldnt tell from your charachter.
You sorry fucks. Give credit to men of the 100th battalion, 442nd infantry for the hard work they did after training all day to work on your goddam set!
@jporcel100 I did not know that fact dude so respect to all of them for making such a great (given when it came out) and realistic show. I was only a teenager at the time but I thought it had a very honest, hard hitting view of something it seems most people want(ed) to forget. Big up for the show and all unsung heroes
Troops from the 100th Battalion, 442nd Infantry built the set for the TV series while training at Schofield Barracks. No recognition was ever given to the soldiers for their hard work -- work that was undertaken in the late afternoon and early evening, after a full day of training. Shame on those who produced this TV series!
@jporcel100 oh pish posh! You were in the infantry. That's what infantry does-details. If you weren't doing that, you would have been picking weeds out of the base commander's rock garden.
@liquidparafin because the Vietnam War had only been over for about 14 years when Tour of Duty came out. It was still a very vivid and, most often, painful memory for most Americans at that time. You and I probably enjoyed because we were only about 14 when it came out, and had no living memory of the war. We've yet to see a TV show about the 1st Gulf War 20 years later and that war carries almost none of the emotional and political baggage of the Vietnam War.
@shannon1973 also because the gulf war was 100 hours of ground combat, kind of hard to make a TV show about the Gulf war. However, I have seen shows about Iraq now, such as Over There... and God forbid , The Hurt Locker. Which everybody raved was so realistic, and they wernt. The setting, and gear ect.. was. But its hard to replicate the repore between guys. One show that DID do a good job for Modern warfare was Generation Kill, the mini Series. Good good series. of Course BoB to.
let's go to macdonalds wahaha, amazing actor and funny too! btw every shop I went to buy this series on dvd, no one seems to have it, and they can't get it neither. I've seen them all back late 80's but it should be a part of the collection!
I totally agree Terence Knox and the other actors like Steve Caffrey whose character ,smooth AK47 carrying LT should've got awards for their great performances. Knox was also great in St Elsewhere as well!
Can anyone tell me where I can get the movie...I think its called "The Tet 68" and Terence and Stephen Caffrey are together again in this movie and I would love to see it...no matter how bad it is too lol. But if anyone knows anything about it, let me know thanks!
Terrence Knox is a trip. Over the years he mostly played bad guys. Same with Stephen Caffrey, who has a fanmade website that last I checked is updated regularily. Loved the show, Zeek lives!
im only 16 and i fucking love this show.
I actually prefer it to MOST of the never stuff, the only bad thing is that its only got 58 episodes and i'm on 53rd.
Hope i get Alzheimer.

One of the best TV shows ever, except the DVD version sucks replaced most of the songs with crap instrumental music, due to licensing issues
