  • Nico is a wonderful artist and poet. Her songs reach a higher level for me.

  • didn't you think this is some information I needed to know?

  • Hello, for a full Nico discography REVIEW, see my channel. Cheerio.

  • It's such an intense song. The John Cale-Nico association has never been equalled. Nico=Icon.

  • 1:30-1:34 ! LOVVVEEEEEE!!!!

  • One of my most favourite Nico songs.. So *sweet* she did this for Jim Morrison, RIP to both of them ♥

  • Haunting

  • She seems to be calling from so far away... No doubt her soul had been told to prepare luggages.

  • Nico, was underrated. This just shows it. Morrissey put her on his Desert Island disc list.

A wonderful song, a lament for Morrisson. So sad, as they are both gone.

  • Nico's music is amazing! It has so much power and energy, There's nothing really like it to me. It's way ahead of it's time!

  • where are the photos from?

  • @Baddaamman some of that photos were made in 60's when Nico was a model. check out this fansite smironne. free. fr/NICO/

  • What instrument makes the sharp high pitched blowing sound that is common in some horror/thriller films as well?

  • grand montage of imagery to go along with this song perfectly. absolutely beautiful and deep. thanks for posting!

  • WOW <3

  • 4:45 isn't warhol is it?

  • prachtig,deep,beautiful,wonderful,etcetera...

  • Thank you intergalaxy for this one - nice slide show with the song.

  • I think this one is for Jim Morrisson,

    Some strings sounds like the

    "albinioni adagio"

    Which was jimbo favourite song.

Some people are leaving, dying without giving explanation,

i think the song is about the living who stays with sad questions and ghosts...

  • thank you! this music invokes many memories ... and the photos: priceless! my copy of this lp long-gone, along with my favorite, Marble Index lp; but I still have an orig tape of Nico solo perf in NYC, made by a friend in club: harmonium and voice... must transfer to cd before it fades, etc... anyway, thanks again for this. sda

  • I agree with the uploader. Absolutely genius for a 70's song to be so futuristic and mystical.

  • COOL person!! Her whole crowd were fantastic!

  • Haunting.... sort of like death do us part from pet semetary... yet it is sweet....

  • wow Nico is so intense I love her music about more than anyones!

  • Superb and hauting piece of music!

  • Absolutely amazing and beautiful...in a sad, horrible kind of way.

  • Could someone post the Cathedral de Reins version of this definitive piece ? (it was recorded for a french radio and aired in two parts; it's in the second, that i have never got the chance to hear ...)

  • I saw her once.

Her music is heartbreaking if you don't know about her life. More so if you do.

  • nico with john cale, brian eno and phil manzanera, wath an incredible session !

  • Nico has a great voice. It's unigue partly because of her accent & intonation & rhythm she employs, it's very untypical, she lingers on parts of words & drags them out in a strange way...I like it very much. It fits her music perfectly & her mood. Like 'You seem not to be listeeeeeeninggggg'. No American singer would drag out the eeeeen part of that word.

  • So gorgeous... no voice like hers ever graced music again. Now we have Miley Cyrus...

I wasn't even alive when this song came out, but boy do I miss those days...

  • She looks very different in all the photos. She's so beautiful!

  • beutiful but terrifying!

  • danke Christa Päffgen(Nico) aus Köln

Eurer päffgen brauerei bringe ich pakete jeden tag..

  • One of my favorite Nico songs!

Plaintive and melancholy, her voice suits it perfectly.

Why some criticize her voice I have no idea; she is completely in tune and has an an authentic and raw quality that no voice training can fake.

Wish I could go back and re-experience her performance I saw in the early 80's.

Is this meant for someone, Lou Reed, or maybe Alain Delon? (I checked - Jim Morrison who had just died)

Brilliant "Deutschland Uber Alles" on the album but as a satirical depressing dirge.

  • @yoochoobb I think she did this song in the memory of Jim Morrison.

  • @yoochoobb this is really progressive for back then! Like a lot of her stuff. "The Marble Index" is mind blowingly futuristic sounding even now.

  • I absolutely love the photo at 3:13, may I ask where you got it? Or we could trade rare Nico photos? I have quite a few.

  • ¡Johlé! fuerte y bella.

  • A wonderful, wonderful song but your photos of Nico are outstanding and many of them rare.

6 stars from me if I may.

  • You may not. I just talked to youtube and they said that it would crash the system if you hack it and give this video 6 stars. Sorry I had to bring it to you. :(

  • very very nice what you did...thank you

from what is probally my favorite album from her

  • I love Nico ,When I was 13 years old, saw her first .......and last time.Sis face was written the death, it was beautiful.I do not know, maybe it ´s the Art....

  • there are so many photos pf her where she just looks so sad =[

but when she smiles... she looks beautiful

  • i have this album for about 15 years !

i dare to listren to it only every one year. because its so scary !

but when i listen to it . mmmm

    so unusual and uncompremising

  • MASTERPIECE!

  • A W E S O M E

  • This L.P., I bought it, not knowing what was it like, maybe I expected the style of the others...

I was astonished, but fascinated by this music, extremely dark, full of sorrow and pain, almost suicidial, I thought. But I couldn't stop listening to.... In a way I thought it feeds my depression at that time, but actually hold me tight, awake, gave me strength to continue all the years...

    Thank You Nico, R.I.P.

  • Music ; a way of expressing that depression ... an outlet . . . a way of by-passing ' suicide ' . . .

  • yeah, cool

usually she is holding a cigarette lol

  • I think this is my favourite song by Nico. There's a sense of longing and a real honesty to the lyrics. And even when her lyrics aren't entirely comprehensible (which I don't mind), she emotes perfectly.

  • why not a singer?

cause she had no school and no technique?

her voice was awesome and she actually sang so she's a singer.. if you like her or not it's your problem

  • opinion vs. "whats for sure"... interesting i thought you were establishing opinion vs. truth. she is one of my favorite singers. but i call her a singer because she is singing you know, it seems more factual to me. you know records, performances, fans, what else does she need to be considered a singer??? we should give people a break

  • This song is about Jim Morrison. Very dark, but beautiful.

  • The picture at 1:57 is so sad.

    Tragic what happened to her...

  • this is the last song she ever performed.

in june 1988. in germany i believe. or atleast to a german crowd.

they demanded an encore and nico asked james young(nico's keyboard player) what he wanted to hear. this was his favorite of her songs.

  • I know her son in law

  • Whose son in law?

  • besides her voice discussion.. what cant be discussed and is awesome is her afination!! shes the most afinated woman i´ve ever listened to! (does the word afination exist? or is it tune or sth like that? sorry, my english does its best but.. you know..)

  • I forgot how good this was.Eno,Phil and Cale...Spooky.

  • Groundbreaking, melodic, dark, avant-garde, haunting.

  • my icone

    i love her

  • I love her voice

  • Nico modeled for Coco Channel after the "war".

As a child, her house back-up against a train-yard. She use to play around the boxcars, filled with people on their final trip - the concentration camps. If that doesn't twist u, nothing will. God Speed Nico.

  • These pictures are fantastic! I've never seen most of the ones in the beginning.

  • she kinda looks like kate moss

  • But prettier.

She looked gorgeous, even without make up.

  • I LOVE Nico.. she's my idol. I don't think anybody else could get away with singing this song, definitly not like Nico... this song is Nico's and Nico's alone. We love ya Nico.xxx

  • I Love Nico..but she never had a smile.. not one..

  • is this Nico on that picture on 0:26?

  • she's fine.

    don't worry

  • she has a powerful voice.

but it can be so gentle at times...

    good music

  • I love the pictures of her. But I really love the album "The End". What a great group of musicians. Thank you for posting this.

  • oh Nico !

I listened to you so long ago ..

    oh Nico !

    to see you agian

  • i am habitually frequented by her voice late at night, its a sweet haunting sound that makes me sing along : )

  • nico has KILLER cheakbones. she is sooo pretty. i love this song, very dark cabaret.

  • I love this song.

  • Her voice is unique

    =)

  • Love the pic of her

  • great song.excellent voice..

  • Die at such a early age? She was 49.

  • Are you saying 49 is old??? YOu just ruined my whole fucking day...thanks, you insensitive bastard!

  • hahaha i was saying the same thing

  • she's so beautiful isn't she?!

  • my favourite song of her......

  • I think its such a tragedy for a young musician to die at such a early age. In Nico's case not only was she a beautiful woman who modeled, but had a voice that was very dark and beautiful at the same-time. After years of doing drugs her looks faded away, its sad to see her die from that.... Nico will always have her place in the music world...

  • distrunner06...Nico did not die from drugs, she was clean when she died, she was thrown while riding a horse .

  • no she fell riding a bike

  • That is the true story in conjunct with a heart attack.

  • a bicycle

  • a dark soul and a brilliant voice.

  • ich leibe nico.

  • ich auch.

  • this is so beautiful. these pictures, this music, she was truly a unique artist.

  • great album - great artist

  • She beautiful, too beautiful for this world, a TRUE artist! xx :)

  • Bout twenty years or so later Bjork would do the same thing mixed with electronics. Only Nico was more handsome.

  • Yeah - Nico woulda been a millionaire today...sad but true...

  • there're too much electronics these days..

  • LOVE NICO

  • very very nice tks for posting...Nico sure did carry on for a long time...not long enough of course...the most haunting and sweet voice i ever heard...

  • This is truly beautiful. Thanks for posting. I saw more new images of Nico than I ever knew existed. As for the comment that Nico never smiled, well, so what? I saw her in concert and I can assure you that she not only smiles, she is extremely humorous. Her delivery is dead pan and dry as all hell, but funny. Very much so. Saw her in Chicago in 1981. One of the best shows ever.

  • you have made an really amazing footage InterGalaxy!

Fantastic! & thank you very very much for posting...Cheers!

  • significant...

    she never smiles

  • After she met Paul Morrissey at The Factory he told her never to smile in photos, I believe.

  • The only other singer/songwriter who evokes such sadness, introspection and truth in their music is Peter Hammill. One wonders what a collboration between Nico & Hammill would have been like. Nico did work with Kevin Ayers, Eno and again with her old Velvets cohort John Cale, on the album: "June 1, 1974".

  • This is fron the album The End.

John Cale (piano, bass, xylophone, acc. guitar, synthesizer, organ, marimba, triangles, cabasa, glockenspiel, percussion, piano & electric piano), Brian Eno (synthesizers) & Phil Manzanera (electric guitar) are the musicians participating here.

  • This song is simply out-of-the-world beautiful! So solemn, eerie, but elegant.

Not intended to sound sexist, but I trully believe that women are better singers than men in general. They are not afraid to touch on their sensual sides and are always good at delivering feelings and emotions.

  • I dont know much about Nico, Im just learning about the Factory scene, can someone explain to me why she and Edie Sedgwick didnt get along?

  • I look around and can't find music this rich today. They say Cat Power is pretty good. Maybe I'll check her out.

  • this is sooooo tragic to watch and hear...knowing her story and all her ups and downs, and her ending, its ust almost too much...im totally bummed out...im gonna go watch madonna videos now to bring me up.

  • nico said in an interview this song was written about trying to get in contact with jim morrison(they had loads of affairs although jim had at least 4 other lovers and a girlfriend)only to find out in the press that he had died.

  • ohhhhhhh JimJimJim

  • Thank you for this !

  • Her whole embodiment is what the "supermodel" attempts to be. Just a true person/woman.

  • What ever did happen to Nico's son??

  • think he lives in paris - he was interviewed in the film-bio - nico-icon

  • According to Wiki, the French actor Alain Delon, and/or his own family were raising him. She publically attributed her son to Delon, but he denied it. Go figure. All I can say is all these guys, Mastroiani was another, were from the same era --pre boomers-- were multilingual, and operated in Europe without respect to national borders. That's quite amazing given Nico, for example, had lived through WWII.

  • was john cooper clarke shagging her at one point ?

  • Thank you so much for this. Nico was a jewel among the (all to often) embarassing pop music landscape. It's such a pity that she is virtually unknown here in North America. Her talent was sublime, she is greatly missed.

  • Bravo. Well done. Thanks very much for this beautiful work.

  • Nico rulez

  • saeta 1981, someone has vid ?

  • Thank you for the great post - You Forgot To Answer tells of the misery felt when Nico failed to reach ex-lover Jim Morrison by phone only to find out later that he had died. If you note there is a shot of Nico with red hair. She dyed it because she knew Jim preferred redheads. Jim did encourage Nico to write in the months they were together, but as always Jim eventually went back to Pam.

  • I saw Nico perform and met her briefly almost thirty years ago. She was at least thirty years ahead of her time. A beautiful collage of images that illuminate a beautiful song by le chanteuse extraordinaire. Thank you so much.

  • so you think she would have fitted into today?

  • she invented today.

  • i envy you! lucky

    i love nico

  • Beautiful, haunting video of NICO. This song is just so amazing and the pix fit perfectly. I am so glad I saw her perform so many times now. She was totally unique and there will never be another like her. THANKS
