  • Why can't we all just live together? We do anyway. When you're in need of medical help and you call for it, do you really care who is helping you? Or if you just need someone to just listen to you and you rant away all your emotions? Why can't that mentality be the norm? Why is it we let go of our identifies and inhibitions only when our lives are in pain, sick or in danger? Fuck that. I am a person and so are you and we live short lives on a planet called EARTH. Peace.

  • THE EU SHOULD LET THE BANKS FALL

  • THANK YOU ICELAND WE ARE PEACEFUL PEOPLE AND WE WISH TO FLOURISH AS YOU DID ONE DAY.

  • Yes...It's an important step on the road to anarchy and world war to give terrorists their own state even though they refuse to live at peace with the very neighbor they expect to exchange land with. This will end badly. The Israelis arent leaving. There's a growing sense of urgency and once the spark ignites the confligration...there's gonna be a lot of dead people in Gaza and Samaria. The 5 wars that came before didnt "Push the Jew into the sea" and this one wont either.

  • Iceland did but Iran didnt ??

  • @interfan63

Yes, Iran did, but Iceland was the first EUROPEAN country to do so.

Well, geographically Iceland is far more distant from mainland Europe than Iran is, but anyway ;-)

  • @Curatica

Bobby Fischer (not Fisher) was a full-blooded Jew, though he was an anti-zionist and hated the Israelis ;-)

  • I know he was Jewish; thank you for correcting the name. (schlagerhansi)

  • You can expect politicians to make fair and balanced decisions when they dump religion in the garbage where it belongs.

  • The questions of whether "...the campaign for Palestinian recognition succeeding?" is hostage to the unconditional support given by the US to Israel, both in the UN and in terms of tangible financial and military support.

The existing official map.showing 2 "States" is a pathetic joke.It is made even more pathetic as the PA accepted this map showing a totally inviable Palestinian "State", as determined by Israel.& accepted by the PA.

Unconditional US support of Israel must be terminated.

  • Iceland keeps amazing me.

After the whole Wikileaks-controversy they changed their laws to make iceland something like an offshore free-speech-haven for the internet, and data centers in iceland powered by green geothermal energy and cooled by arctic winds are being built. Free-speech-protection on the internet is now incredibly strong due to the new laws, its now a perfect location for bulletproof hosting.

  • @kurtilein3

Could you tell me some providers located in Iceland?

(That's a serious question, no kidding!)

    Thank you

  • .

Justin McCarthy - American Historian, Ottoman Empire expert

    .

Total Population of Ottoman Palestine 1860-1870 = approximately 600,000

    .

94% Muslim, 4% Christian, 4% Jewish --- Most of the Arabs living in Palestine had been there for hundreds or thousands of years.

  • Yes, the lie is being accepted because it is Politically Correct. Like Hitler said; Repeat a lie enough and people will believe it. So it is with Islamist calls for a Palestinian State. Ya! Remember when the Liberals, Media and Democrats, vilified Bush just because he wanted to monitor calls of terrorist?

  • Wow - Iceland... A bancrupt island with the population of a middle sized city, of whom most certainly not even a dozen persons have been to the Middle East in person.

Wonder who'll be next: Greenland? Nunavut? LOL

  • @schlagerhansi

Iceland let its banks go bankrupt early in the crisis and refused to bail them out. So the icelandic government is NOT bancrupt, to the contrary, it left its failing banks behind which are now nonexistent and is moving on, and the public budget has NOT been disrupted by extreme bailouts. Other nations decided to make the debt public, iceland decided to let these private institutions go bankrupt. And now it is well ahead when it comes to economic recovery.

  • @kurtilein3

Alright, you've got that point, but you can only afford to do that if most deposits are from abroad -- which is not the case with most other European countries (except for Switzerland -- but they're not bankrupt ;-), and then it's off topic (it's my fault, I have to admit ;-). Still, even if they are not bankrupt, their recognition of a Palestine state won't be all that important, will it?

  • @schlagerhansi

The accounts of private person are typically protected against bankrupcy of the bank, i think icelandic people didnt lose their money. But everyone without an icelandic passport that had any money in the banks that died faced total loss, and the icelandic currency just fell into a black hole, got devalued massively, for a while imports were virtually impossible. But they recovered much better than other nations.

  • @kurtilein3

As I said, that's an interesting way of doing it, but unpracticable in all other countries, except for Switzerland, where it isn't needed.

Btw, many other states bailed out their own citizens who had money in Icelandic banks, e.g. Sweden, UK, and FRG. That's why they are very angry with Iceland, as they are paying now the bill they think Iceland should have to pay.

  • @schlagerhansi

i think Icelands recognition of Palestine is significant, because its the first EU country to do so, and the nordic countries in the EU tend to stick together. So it could cause a domino-effect, with other nordic EU nations following, like Sweden or Norway. Until now no EU-country cared much about the issue because europe was unified on the issue, once that consensus is destroyed every EU member will need to reconsider, decide which side to be on.

  • @kurtilein3

    LOL

Like most Europeans, you don't know who is, and who isn't a member of the EU... Iceland is NOT!

Most Europeans -- incl. their stupid politicians -- wouldn't even know Iceland exists if it wasn't for a socker game they have to play from time to time in the 1st round of the European championship qualification ;-)

I bet nobody will give even a single eyrir for what, or whom they recognize, or don't...

  • @schlagerhansi

oh, right. i believed there were a member state but stayed out of the eurozone.

but its still the case that the nordic countries tend to stick together.

  • @kurtilein3

They used to. But the last part of that "stick" broke in 2008, when Iceland refused to compensate anybody but their own citizens, and Sweden refused to compensate anybody but their own citizens -- each of them expecting the other to do much more ;-)

And Norway fell out long before. Norvegians are greedy, they won't share the wealth they get from the North Sea oil with anybody, that's why they stayed out of the EU, too.

And they give a shit for their Nordic neighbors.

  • Reconciliation?

  • He's right, Israel predates Palestine, which was subject to the Ottoman Turks that never recognized it as a nation so legally it was never a country even when they think it was, Israel was ruled by Rome, by force... they know it was a nation, it payed tribute... they wrote about ti. And besides it was Caanan before that, and Arab or Hebrew, neither of you were those people.

  • @foresakenlion well for one the vast majority of Jews are Europeans not Semitic Hebrews. they are related to Jewish converts from Europe. the Arabs have more relation to those Jews because they are Semites. the are not from Poland Germany Austria Russia or Brooklyn.

  • Yay for Iceland!

Leading the way for Western Democracies. :)

  • So by Gingrich's standards, since the 13 Colonies were part of the British Empire, Americans must also be an "invented people"!

    LMAO@the hypocrisy

  • @blunt1984 A real separate identity arose in America after the standardization of the English language and concurrent mixing of cultures and existing universal ideas and principles for the land predating immigration to it. "Palestinians" are invented in that they were xenophobic Arabs who only started considering it a national identity after the Jews started moving in.

  • Palestinian? NO! They are imagined : )

  • Fuck the Israeli state! What a pack of thieving, oppressive and murderous turds.

Fuck the Israeli state, American state and all other states that support them.

  • @agelessrocker why would they want to recognise israel, when israel stole the land of the palestinians

  • @agelessrocker

Palestinians recognize Israel on the pre 67 borders. Palestinians have agreed to respect the international resolution to end the conflict.
