So a parent needs a school to tell them when to have their kids go to bed or get off the fucking couch and stop eating the damn potato chips? I think that means they have no business being parents.
Im 12 and in 7th grade the school sent home obesity sheets to my house im 120 and besicly thats healthy i see kids goin around they hav to wait for kids to move soo they can walk i got obesity sheets i cursed my dean out and the principle for doin it i got suspended but thats bull shit
I fail to see the problem with this. It's a fucking wrist band! If you honestly consider this invasion of privacy, you're paranoid. If a school rang me and said hey you're child's not sleeping well enough I'd be thankful. The schools showing an interest in the health of the kids. God forbid kids aren't fatties.

But but but but but don't you know? Fatties, guys! The FATTIES! They're everywhere! It's them or us! That's why we have to monitor your heart and put cameras in your home, and then send armed guards to parent's homes to "regulate" the people who miss an hour of cardio.

Sorry, but it's not somehow better just because it's not a republican doing it.
Normally I'd agree with 'it's the parent's responsibility', but If you look at the facts, parents aren't doing enough are they? A skyrocketing obesity rate in children is pretty dangerous
Is this totally moral? No. Do the benefits outweigh the risks? I think so. This isn't a damn camera strapped to them, it's a monitor of how some kids behave physically at home and school. And home is a whole different environment and is just as important.
Then again, we really do need the full circle for this.
Indoctrination of elementary children to "normalize" unquestioned subjugation to higher authority. If it was for health reasons, what doctor ordered it? Sounds like the need for religion to get 'em while their young & impressionable. I'd put the thing on my cat to really screw with them :-) Oh that's right, a cat wouldn't put up with it.

Hey Anna. Wanna get your head out of your ass? If school administrators are for once caring about their students well beings why not allow them to. Kids under 20 require 9-10 hours of sleep a night and at least an hour of physical activity a day. Most kids don't get this at home. And with a lack of sleep comes poorer performances in school. This definitely affects the school. This should theoretically help these kids the rest of their lives as well because when the data comes back that they don
Im not sure since i havent seen all of TYT nor do i know anna personally, but im fairly certain that this has to rank up there pretty high on the list of dumbest arguments anna has made. A large percentage of the problem of poor education in this country is from parents who dont care what their kid does. If someone who does care is willing to help better others, then why are people so concerned that its a bad thing?
Sorry Ana I disagree with you. I think this is great for letting our schools know what they need to educate our kids on about lifestyle. Our children get a lot of influence on lifestyle through our educators. It can also help our schools figure out what they need to focus on with their lessons. We cannot depend on the parents completely if they do now know how to look after themselves. It has been proven that schools that encourage a healthy lifestyle helps the whole family.
@FuckYouLetMeLogIn They've always been prisons. If there's one thing you can be sure of, it's that school officials in the U.S. have absolutely no interest in the health or well being of any of their students, least of all those they consider "unhealthy". It's all about control.
This is an odd issue. I agree that more would need to be known about what's being monitored. If the information is just for statistics research, it's one thing and I wouldn't be against it. If it's the school directly monitoring the kids' lives... it's crossing a line into the family. The state should never extend opportunities to raise children for the parents (especially in the case of apathetic parents). The implications could be horrific.
Seems like they're doing it in good will but, things like this have misuse potential that can outweigh the benefits. Then we have the slippery slope down into 1984...
Horrible idea. These bracelets are for the same reason insurance companies want a black box in your car. If something goes wrong they can blame you rather than taking any responsibility. If a parent is at odds with the school, the school will then go back and look at the "data" and a) point out how it's your (the parent's) fault and/or b) implicitly intimidate you by suggesting that you are a child abuser because Susie was up too late one night or was too tired on this day, etc..
Welcome to the New World Order. Do you want to be mircrochipped to the point that others know if you are having sex, taking a bath, or what you are eating? Just wait, this is the Orwellian nightmare coming to life.
The electronic monitoring seems over reaching. That being said, my mother taught in public schools and the only meal some kids got was whatever they were fed in school. The children weren't bathed regularly. In the 70's, the kids would crave hugs and affection from the teachers; literally hanging onto them. Many parents did not want to be contacted regarding behavioral or academic problems at all. They said that was the teacher's job.
Anyone else notice the numerous edits with JR on? Ana and Cenk are a better combo/have better chemistry (JR is good for a sensible/very understanding opinion) but seriously...where is Cenk?
Here's a better idea: Instead of spending billions and billions of dollars on illegal wars, illegal incarceration of human beings, foreign military bases, etc. etc. spend that on our infrastructure and schools, actually helping children learn, think critically and independently, and to be healthy by exercising, eating right, etc. But that's most certainly never going to happen *sigh*
Sounds like some kind of study. I wore something similar to that for a sleep study that we could sign up for in school. If it's for research then I don't see anything wrong with it if the kids are okay with it. And they are compensated for their participation.
This isn't Big Brother restricting your freedoms and taking away your rights, this is the schools trying to make sure that your kid is getting the physical activity he or she needs. Anyone who's ever seen babies drinking Pepsi from their milk bottles knows that this wrist band idea isn't necessarily a bad thing.
The scientists and engineers who put this project together, to genuinely do scientific research, are probably flabbergasted at the fact that the people who are endangering it got their education on youtube.
Hmm so hypothetically it starts with the kids.. "its for their health so the should wear this wrist band".....then latter on... "All children MUST wear this wrist band".... and a little later still .. All citizens must wear this wrist band for your health...... so on and so forth you get the idea.
Paranoid? Yeah maybe but its a slippery slope either way.
as for Alex Jones some truth and some bat shit mixed in.. so be critical question every thing.
We've got a fat ass country and it's obvious parents DONT DO SHIT. And now that a school is actually taking steps to make our kids lives healthier (with parents permission mind you) Ana wants them to fuck off. Ana, just take it out of your ass, whatever it is.
I agree with Ana's POV. However u can say many things about Hitler but the Hitler Jugend was great, kids loved it. After school activities kept them active and no one had to be lonely. Society need too offer a better after school program than just sports teams, that I don't find very healthy many times, kids learn bad behavior there. This wristwatch is a bad alternative to health, I fear it can lead to anxiety. Health must comes thru inner motivation, best acquired in Groups like the HJ!
I am split on this. Is this a study? Are the teachers trying to just learn more about their students? And why is Ana so bitchy about this? I gotta agree with Jayar on this one. We need to know more. If a kid were to come to school and have a black eye, it's the teachers jobs to ask questions and step in if need be. It's the law actually. How is it any different if a 5th grader comes into school, 200 lbs and nothing but twinkies in their lunchbox. That, too, is a form of abuse.
Much respect for you Ana, but I do think it's kind of obnoxious that you seem to think you can be a jennyass to Jayar because he's not your boss. I know you hold your own with Cenk, and you stand firm, but you don't disrespect him, don't yell at him. There's no need to yell at Jayar, and you should respect him enough to listen to his words just like he seems to be listening to you.
god this already happened in england years ago. not quite as bad as wristbands, but junk food was banned from lunchboxes. some schools were checking kids packed lunch and converscating crisps and chocolate. biggest load of nanny state crap ive ever heard.
so on these wristbands... where's the port for the wires from the cameras and the thermometers up the kids ass? do you register them with the parent/legal guardian's bank account info? can you put your home network info so it reports on you conveniently over the internet?
you know what? now i'd really like to take a fat kid's wristband and strap it to a dog everyday when he's not in class. let them figure it out!
My god, this is what everyone hates about liberal social and political policies. If you have to monitor a child's every move in order to make sure he/she is making healthy decisions, he/she will be ENTIRELY unequipped to do so for him/herself when he/she becomes independent.
I hate that English doesn't have a neuter pronoun (:-|)
Kids privacy being violated VS kids health being violated.
I don't want parents to "make their own decisions" that risk the life and health of their kids. Those kids are NOT the property of their parents. They're people and the next generation of our society and economy. We have a steak in those kids and so do those kids, fuck the parents if they aren't good parents.
Why is Anna against this, she thinks she'd make a bad parent?
um, ana, your iphone collects and transmits personal data about your whereabouts and activities on a constant basis, just fyi. And it's not even a government that does that. If schools want to gather data for a study about their students' healths/habits, AND THEY HAVE PERMISSION from the PARENTS, they what the fuck is your fucking problem you cow?
... like when a zoologist tags wildlife for study, but with children. this will be a 'must-have' item for parents that literally keep their kids on a leash when in public.
ok its parents job to control theyre childs health, for good or bad obviously if you have a obese child that dont wanna bother with a healthy diet you get advise but its still the parents job
and also ana likes cenks chair. she so eager to say her opinion shes like fuck you JR hhaahahah and i truly hate when people speak over eachother,,,
School teachers should also be responsable for their students in a certain way, what the hell Ana?? How about if the kid had abusive parents or something like that. Education is not just a business. Pay me, I teach your child a few hours and then fuck off; or at least it shouldn't be as cold as that.
@AllSentientFreeman But schools are still partly businesses and operate on the intent of making money to keep up with the cost of schools. If they were so worried about the health and activity of the students they would spend extra for healthier lunches and extend exercise/gym class and maybe include Nutrition classes. Just ask yourself what do the schools need this information for and if they don't like what they see what are/can they do about it?
How long does it take before the pharmaceutical companies take advantage of this so that the kids get ritalin and anti-depressants based on their 10-day average pulse? Is there anything preventing the schools from handing the health data to the pharmaceutical companies? Privacy hello!
@LordOrlock No way I agree with this. If the wristbands only monitor heart rate and sleeping patterns, then this is fine. However it should be tightly regulated and handled with up most sensitivity. Parents are stupid, they are. Some mean well but let's face it if it wasn't for the gov many parents would have killed their kids a long time ago. There should be some school intervention for the kids good health.. at least a bit.
@TonyFbaby87 What I have heard from the American teachers, the mentality of an average douchebag parent is to do nothing to raise their kids and blame all the consequential problems on the schools and especially on the teachers. If the teacher tells them off, he's fired or at least gets the PTA on his ass. Considering that most likely both the teacher and the parent are women and that conflicts between the same-sex people are brutal, it never ends nicely.
@fingrid Yeah parents are just ppl, they don't know best all the time and they don't know more about science and health than a doctor. If we got doctors to approve this, and regulated it tightly so as to not infringe privacy or freedoms than it sounds good to me. As long as schools stay separate from other gov policies, are self regulated and are liable to the community and can be punished quickly and effectively then this is a good idea.
I'd have told my school to go fuck itself and not wear those wrist bands. I'm a private person and school felt like a prision back then to begin with.
I wouldn't actually care so much if they kept a wristwatch beeping when like 7-year olds went outside school grounds without permission.
.
"Of course the school has to get permission"
No, not "Of course".The U.S is a totalitarian Big Brother state and taking for granted not be under authorities' control 24/7 is history.
.
I think this can be good in some cases related to the general health of the child, which I assume no American can afford to check up anyway, impoverished as they are.
My mom was accused of sleep depriving me when I was in elementary school. They interrogated me on every little aspect of my home life, and being a kid, I liked getting the attention. So if they asked "was your bed wet last night?" I'd say "well.. kinda..." because I spilled my water a little when I was taking a sip before sleeping. They had this whole case against my mom who is one of the best/most caring/most involved moms. I can see this being easily misused to falsely accuse parents of abuse.
The teachers at my daughter's school called me in to discuss why I wasn't making sure she got enough sleep, because she was "falling in sleep in class". What "falling in sleep in class" eventually turned out to mean was when she asked the teacher or assistant for help they would ignore her, and in return she would fold her arms and lay her head down on the desk and ignore them back.
Yeah... I'm gunna start beating my kid and if the school has anything to say about how I raise my kid after hours then "fuck them" this study and give information that will show the difference in attituded of children. If kids are distracted and are obease maybe they should exercise more and get better sleep. This can help people its not to fuck up kids lives.
@LiveFreeFromFallacy If you abuse your child then the school has a right to tell the Authorities. But does that mean the school has the right to take you child's clothes off and give them and every kid in the school full body examines to make sure you're not abusing them? Same with health and nutrition of children, if schools were so concerned about the health of students they would change up the school lunches and extend after-school programs and gym.
@blainealexander that's right I forgot that its the schools that make kids fat not their parents thankyou for reminding me! I also forgot that schools have the funds to revamp programs and buy healthy food for lunches because the healthy food is SO much cheaper than the shit food they normally sell. I fucking hate this taboo of "don't tell me how to raise my kids" fuck you if your kid is a giant ball of depression, fat, anger ,or whatever then you need a lesson in raising your type of kid!
@LiveFreeFromFallacy No parents have a role im their kids gaining weight as well, But schools where the child is for almost 8-9 hours a day in some places play a huge role in that as well. By no means are most school lunches healthy at all. You don't seem to understand what im saying, Both places play a role in what goes on in a childs life, but for tjhe school to just go "Oh your child is unhealthy it's all your fault, you're a horrible parent" is wrong since they place as much as a role.
So a parent needs a school to tell them when to have their kids go to bed or get off the fucking couch and stop eating the damn potato chips? I think that means they have no business being parents.

Kids privacy being violated VS kids health being violated.
I don't want parents to "make their own decisions" that risk the life and health of their kids. Those kids are NOT the property of their parents. AllSentientFreeman 1 month ago

@LordOrlock No way I agree with this. If the wristbands only monitor heart rate and sleeping patterns, then this is fine. However it should be tightly regulated and handled with up most sensitivity. Parents are stupid, they are. Some mean well but let's face it if it wasn't for the gov many parents would have killed their kids a long time ago. There should be some school intervention for the kids good health.. at least a bit.
TonyFbaby87 1 month ago
@TonyFbaby87 What I have heard from the American teachers, the mentality of an average douchebag parent is to do nothing to raise their kids and blame all the consequential problems on the schools and especially on the teachers. If the teacher tells them off, he's fired or at least gets the PTA on his ass. Considering that most likely both the teacher and the parent are women and that conflicts between the same-sex people are brutal, it never ends nicely.
The dumb parents always win.
fingrid 1 month ago in playlist Uploaded videos
@fingrid Yeah parents are just ppl, they don't know best all the time and they don't know more about science and health than a doctor. If we got doctors to approve this, and regulated it tightly so as to not infringe privacy or freedoms than it sounds good to me. As long as schools stay separate from other gov policies, are self regulated and are liable to the community and can be punished quickly and effectively then this is a good idea.
