Ike took out my garage door and my favorite souvenir shop in Galveston. I bought my kids a hermit crab there. The Strand was under 10 feet of water! I couldn't help but feel bad about Col. Bubbie's and La King's Confectionery, my two favorite places on The Strand besides The Peanut Butter Warehouse, which closed before the storm. But they survived and are back in business!

I had only been to Galveston 1 time before briefly. I would like to go under better circumstances though.

My favorite place in Texas, Galveston ... hurts to see it like this. Without that seawall, it would have been much worse - adding to "'Canes" playlist. Five stars.
