Agghh.

The Speed of Light through VACUUM is what's supposed to be a constant.

The speed of light through various materials differs.

That's because while light travels unimpeded through vacuum, passing through a material like glass, or rubidium, requires a PROCESS.

The photon bumps an electron, which gets kicked to a higher energy state, and then the energy is released on the opposite side of the atom.

That takes TIME.

3:38 thom is wrong, most of those dots actually are stars we can only see a handful of galaxies with the naked eye.

How do you know? have you traveled in space far enough to find out?

No, it's common knowledge that the farthest object we can see with the naked eye is andromeda (2.5 million light years away) which is part of our local group and the local group consists of only about 30 galaxies. Maybe you live in a city and didn't realize this but in good conditions under a dark sky you can see up to around 2000 stars

oggleman is right. Apparently Thom got it wrong here (guess he's only good at politics LOL)... If you look ate the sky naked eyed basically all you see are stars in our galaxy... however if you look through Hubble deep field that's not the case...
