Agreed - life is very short! For me this is a motivator and a blessing; if I was immortal then I would have questions about the need to do anything today because tomorrow will always be. I can understand your feelings about the promise of eternal life, I think most of us want that. Personally, I like the idea of God being a presence that I experience all around me on Earth as that has been my experience of God for as long as I can remember.
I like to stay with the old "faith", I guess I look forward to the promise of eternal life with Jesus in His glory. The alternative from what Dr Mcnab was saying was not what I want. As I read the Bible it is clear to me that the spiritual realm is the real world as it is this world that will go on for ever. This life is so so short.
I agree that we don't argue. Dr Mcnab is a very good speaker, and I can see that he has a heart for peoples welfare but the things he was saying about the Bible seem to indicate that he was not follower of Jesus. Denomanation means nothing as it is all about connecting to Jesus; as He is God.
Dr Macnab fully accepts and understands who Jesus was and his importance to humanity on mass. His argument has to do with interpretation of the Bible and the watering down of the message of Jesus by certain church groups who were more concerned with survival and power than understanding what Jesus was trying to say. His is asking us to look beyond the Creeds and Dogma and to do that we need a new way to celebrate the life of Christ. This is my take on this by the way and not necessary his.
How does one define Christian? Is the Catholic not a Christian because they are not Baptist? I'm not trying to be arguementative for the sake of it, I just want to clarify your definition before responding to what is a very broad statement.
