I wish I could understand his english a bit better, its hard to understand sometimes. But very useful info by the way. Also, I whish he would have showed something else at the end. All I know is kimora or arm bar , it just gets boring to do the same thing everytime.
Octavio just stopped by for his workshop at the gym I'm attending. He went over this and it was extremely helpful. He is a great person and a very wise man. His English is really improved and it was great meeting such a man of his stature.
Not to fold it over deep is the main problem. I was resting my leg for sure as Octavio was talking ;-) I tend to not do this much in live rolling as I am always trying to regain half or full guard when I am on my back. I will usually pull my leg into their ribs if rolling. As long as you are aware of the knee bar attempt, you are usually ok.
My coach has started reaching his body side arm over catching the "lazy leg" at his elbow and pulling it down to the hip. Very uncomfortable and I have rubber guard flexibility.
Love this vid. as a white belt ive always had problems with ppl getting super heavy on me . I've unfortunately been tapped a few times by dudes LIGHTER than me doing this shit. Good stuff to know though. Pressure your opponent into making a mistake. Good stuff.
I've trained with Octavio and the only thing that rivals his teaching and rolling ability is his level of character. Anyone who has the chance to learn from him in person through seminars, classes or privates will, without a doubt, come away knowing their time was well spent. He is a true master!
I couldn't agree more. He is a fantastic guy. I was very impressed with him on all levels. It was also a blast rolling with him (him toying with me ;-)
I think Brazilians are awesome. They usually have a great sense of humor and their accents adds to it. :) great vid Ari. You're spoiling us with these videos
+1 to the great sense of humor in Brazilians. I train with Yan Cabral and no kidding, every day spits out a line or two that make his students laugh. Really nice people

"The most important thing is not static, it's dynamic." Well put! Couto proves through these videos why he has gone so far in the system he studies.

Ari,
Didn't you guys just post a video of Keith Owen that said not to sit in side control with your ankle on your knee?
Great videos as always, thanks a lot.

This video is a good example of when people look at BJJ not as a sport, but as a science.

The art of BJJ is now old enough where mastering it is a science in its own. I completely agree with you. Great Vid as well
