@vishyc88 UDA has the 2003 setup built in... if i recall correctly.
but i have to stress again that both the developer and I have agreed that the need for UDA has diminished greatly and that its would be better to simply deploy images of OSs...
for image deployment you can use the FOG project.
if you must have a flat install especially of 2008 and above, you should use MSs WDS/RIS.
and all of this can be done from a network boot, but again isn't recommended because of the inherent complexity it requires (you need to make the server provide network drivers during setup in a certain way and pray that they don't BSOD the setup process for just one example).
image deployment is a lot easier, because the process of doing the flat install is done once on the template machine. then using a third party software (usually) you take a bit by bit snapshot of the installation of the machine.
then you simply dump the snap shot on the rest of the machines.
this method has the added bonus that it takes less time to deploy a machine because the already prepared files are copied directly and they don't need to go through the flat install process of copy and then uncompress.
and thats the fundamental difference between FOG and UDA:
@aviadra Thank you so much for all that information, but like u said while u deploy the image using FOG we must make sure that the hardware configuration is similar in all the systems that u r pushing the image into..right?
because lately almost all machines have two processors or more, windows XP uses the same HAL when it installs... so you can probably get away with a lot of hardware changes and get windows to boot...
with that said, yes the more similar the machines are the better they will work (drivers are a pain).
as long as not every machine you need to install has a totally incompatible setup, you should be able to create a couple of images and be done with it.
@aviadra ill give FOG a try on my ubuntu 8.04. i went to the FOG website and it now says it even supports windows 7. sounds good. Lemme start with windows XP first. ill let u know the result in some time..:)
Great Skills you got. I wish to have detailed step by step instructions for newbie's like me. I have also no skills on linux but I managed to run UDA server successfully. My next goal is to do what you have done. Well done!
i can't wait for this guide to come out! i already have the UDA installed and working, but i'd really like this menu system, but more importantly, the network dos setup.
i am sorry that new vids are beeing deleyed... having alot of changes in my life right now... i will get around to making new vids real soon...........
Hello! Good video! Because of your video I was inspired to do the same, I actually have a need for it and it's a great utility. It would be great if you could easily explain how the utilities work such as the acronis, ghost and the memtest. How were you able to get memtest on there?
i can explane it easily... sorry its abit complex... BUT i'll just say that once u get the kernels part your set for memtest, cus i got memtest working by simply feeding the mt86plus kernel to the clients.
Greetings aviad
I have been looking around for your enhanced uda. but the links you posted no longer work. Is there any chance they could be reuploaded?

@aviadra so does that mean that FOG can help me install win OS's? what is the difference between flat installation & image deployment?
thnx again

disregarding the boot method for a second, a flat installation is like the one from the CD.
that is, the computer goes through all the steps of the windows setup, of:
1. going into the blue setup screen (text mode setup)
2. format the drive and copy the compressed files from the installation source.
3. rebooting into the graphical interface also called GUI-setup (this is where you can see the count down)
4. final reboot into the OS and answer the Out-Of-Box-Experience (OOBE) questions.

and thats the fundamental difference between FOG and UDA:
UDA - was designed to preform flat installs.
FOG - is designed to take and deploy images.
makes sense?

P.S.
read about images deployment for windows, there are some preparation steps to preform on the template machine before taking the snapshot.

we have machines that get deployed with winXP then Debian Linux then XP again for our tests, and it works perfectly.
haven't tried win7 on a grand scale yet, but we know that it works too.
P.S.

i am sorry but "hacking" the RIS tftp service isnt (yet) one of my skills... i do know there is info ab it on the net.
affter u get it "hacked" u will b able to serve kernels and there for acronis + memtest and others...

once your IP is inthe same subnet as the host u can just ssh into the guest box... and if u use winscp u will b able to copy files into it.
