It really makes me laugh when I hear people in the West say: Oh, the Muslims and the Shariah Law are taking over the Western values. They are threat to our democracy. They hate us! Most Muslims that I know who came to the West unlike many Christian Missionaries in the East are typical immigrants who came to the West searching for better life opportunities. They are consumed by making it and getting by. Most of them (over 95%) care less about Islam and the Shariah Law and live large and loose.

NO. I believe many of the coments here are incorrect.
I learned a great deal from this interview, and I understand Maher's sentiment and genuine curiosity..the facts are the facts.
But her response was very informative to those in the west to understand.
I consider myself educated and and try to keep up on things, understand, and her reply was a key to doing so.
Those who say below she is perfect representative for Egypt now I can understand why they are correct.

Mona's absolutely correct: Virtually all of the "friends" of the USA in the Mid East are old men regimes. Including Israel, yes. While there are free elections in Israel, and it is indeed a democracy as we would define it here in the West, the top politicians in Israel comprise really just a small oligarch. I am ecstatic over the revolution as well - but if these statistics are collected in the proper methodological way they are revealing. This does not say Egyptian democracy should be determined by anyone else.
