awesome video!!!....but in mississippi arent there gators strolling around every where....i know in louisiana there isnt a body of water without a gator.
We get yellows and blues. We like to eat the yellows and give the blues away or throw them back. Some people call the yellow-cats flat-heads or appaloosa catfish. Everybody seems to like them.
LOL, more or less yes, you find them or build nest they they will take to, and reach in let them attack your hand by biting it, and the grab the inner gills and pull out. it only works when they are spawning, the male guards the nest by eating or biting anything that come close to the brood.
could someone tell me exactly how to noodle catfish, like how do you know where to find them, i see all these vids on noodling but none tell me how to start out and do it
Most people build brood boxes, then they place them in water they know is catfish populated, and check them during spawning season. Spawning season depends on where you live but measure the water temp, when it starts warming up to around 68 to 72 get moving
When we stick our feet in the hole, sometimes the fish starts bitting our toes immediately. We wear shoes. Other times we have to use a stick to nudge the fish to come forward so we can grab it. Our boxes are 4 feet deep. It's nice when they bite our feet because we can catch them faster.
I saw this other video where the guys were letting the fish swallow their arms and then they would put their fists through their gills and snag them out of the water. lol, crazy stuff but cool as hell!
If you have catfish (and probably other kinds of fish) you can do this. The next time you see an old water-heater on the side of the road being thrown out, get it. Strip the housing off, cut a hole in one end of it(I use a torch), and sink it. Or build a box about the same size.
Wood has to be soaked first or weighted down. There may be a law in your area against metal tanks.
Remember exactly where you sink it. Use triangulation line-ups on the shore(trees, houses, etc). GPS is NOT good enough.
We set boxes about waist deep. I've heard too many horror stories about finding holes. Do you know what makes those holes? I'm guessing turtles and beavers. OUCH!!!
Well I'm right next door in Louisiana, I know for sure what makes them holes. I set boxes myself to keep my arm from getting took off by a turtle. Ya'll anywhere near Pascagoula? I make my way over there a pretty good bit.
It's not a very deep lake. Lots of open water so the wind is a pain most days. Ya'll have some big cats over there. I've heard stories. Thanks for watching the video.
Good video. I live in NJ and catfish on the Delaware River. We catch big channel cat with reels and rods. I wonder if your grabbing would work here. FISH ON
I'm sure it would work but the water must be pretty cold up there. We start in May and the water is around 60 at our feet and 85 on the surface. If the sun doesn't shine, it's downright cold. We even use wet-suits sometimes. They help a lot.
Thats amazing though I would never do it as would be afraid of whats in the water but great size catfish. I fish with rod/reel . Imagine you eat the catfish . I love fied catfish
Its really not that dangerous the way we do it. We do eat the fish and they're good as long as you cut the red meat out along the backbone...and yes, I agree fried is best! Thanks for watching.
Not with our barrels that far out from shore. We try to keep away from veggetation, stumps, and pretty much anything that looks like a good home for snakes turtles beavers and gators. My family has been doing this for almost 20 years and we know many people who have done it with barrels for 30+ years and we have never found anything but a fish in a barrel. Thank you for watching the video.

i think it's animal cruelty, i mean take those you need only! about 3 or 4 and let rest go...

You're an idiot, if no one went fishing then fish would become over populated. Same thing with deer and quail and animals like that
AnglerInTexas 3 years ago
your retarded, first you state is cruel then you state it OK to be cruel if you only take 3 or 4, your pissed of at something else.
and it has nothing to do with fishing, you know what it might be? your seeing someone succeed
