Wow, this seems VERY easy compared to the SMS version. I had to grind for a long time before going to the temple and the first monsters could actually kill you if you weren't careful.

It gets a lot tougher, especially once I hit Ys II. Certain stretches of the game acquaint me quite intimately with death.

No argument here! If someone asked me to imagine the perfect music for a fantasy game, I doubt I'd think "synth rock", but damned if Koshiro and Yonemitsu didn't make it fit like perfectly broken-in underwear.
