@TheNatealator Not how the reframing detector works. When it's first brought out, he asks why he'd be threatened by an intelligent woman, and it goes off. So he says he isn't threatened (a positive thought about himself) and only the lie detector goes off. There is no relation between self-complimentary answers and the reframing detector. It detects when the person is reframing an answer that the interrogator would not like, which is obviously not the case for the final question/answer.

Regarding the positive-to-negative correlation, though, I think you're looking at it the wrong way. The answer "I'm not impressed" (and its corresponding implications) should be your starting point, after which "I could do better" can be taken a lot more ambiguously. Could she do better than the area under a vehicle? Could she do better than JP?
