@HackingDutchman You can get a normal 12 volt transformer, cut the wires off, and solder on the wires from the fan.Or you can get an old PSU from a computer and use that. but that might be to bulky.

Hey as you say the fan will run slower on the 5v supply through the usb... What if you connect two usb lines in series in two usb ports instead of using only one usb, by connecting the negative of one opened usb cable to the positive of another and then connecting the remaining two lines to the ac as you have done? Wont that then provide 10v, since it will be like having connected two 5v battery sources in series???
