Salvador Dali was one crazy ,fearless, mother flower, there are many ghetto kids just like him waiting to come out unfurtally the best artist we keep them in Jail but Dali keep him sell out and them some. Spain and the word need more of this tipe of individuals.
Madman or Genius? - all a matter of perception. I personally adore his stuff, imaginative, provocative, shocking and just so not of this realm. "Sometimes I spit for fun on my mother's portrait" - got to love the man. lol
Dali didnt give a shit about what people thought of him. He knew that people are generally egotistacle and sensless, it didnt bother him one bit to know that people were constantly judging him...and his art is simply amazing, who would rag on that!?! DALI DALI DALI
Gifted, mad and beautiful....both Dali and his art. I agree with Kerouac when he said "The only people for me are the mad ones. The ones who never yawn and say a commonplace thing, but burn, burn, burn, like fabulous roman candles exploding like spiders across the stars !!"
I adore his work. I did a piece inspired by him for my GCSE art exam and the teacher told me to not do it because "not alot of people like him, he's looked down on" so in doing anything related to him, I may fall out of favour with the examiners and consequently, my grade may drop. I don't care that others frown upon him, he inspires me and art is all about being inspired and expressing yourself. Thank you for this video. A true artist is not one who is inspired, but one who inspires others.
The painting of bread at 0:20, I saw that in person at his museum in Florida. He gave that to his art teacher as a final and told his teacher that he was not qualified to grade it(he was right). If you have ever seen it, it is amazing; it looks like a high definition photograph. Dali was a genius; absolutely brilliant.
nice song! who is it by and the name of the song? hey what kinda music would Salvador Daliwould listen to anyone ever thought about that? lol i think a bit of motzart and slayer
aw dont judge before u see. i mean i would have preferred antonia banderas, but remember this is a small indie movie. imagine if it were a big budget movie raping the whole life of dali all together
i would giv anything to know what was going on inside this man's head. just where he got the imagination. i would also giv anything for art to be as profound and well-known today as it was then.... but then again, dis is da new fukn millenium
'tis so enchanting, how Surrealism is so beloved by the public. Dali, De Chirico, Delvaux, Ensor, Magritte, Tanguy--the public simply adores those guys!
I am learning to paint, and my favorite subject is religious imagery. Dali gives me the inspiration to paint religious images from a fresh and unexpected perspective.

Thanks for the insightful comment. I wrote about Dali's level of understanding on my blog at the address in the video. Could I get your opinion on a particular piece?
The video states "he wasn't afraid to do something different"
Honestly, he couldn't help but do something different! With his vision, it would have been an effort to try to make "normal" art.
Look at the volume of his work. He was way too busy getting his mental pictures on canvas to even think about being mainstream. I doubt he thought one minute about that. It would have been a wasted minute, subtracted from his art. "Genius or madman"? Yes to both.
Thanks for the kind words. Your response motivated me to do another one that i've been thinking about. If it's not on my page yet, type "dark art giger".
madman or genius? Sometimes I wonder if one really is so far removed from the other.
For the longest time I've loved the works of Dali and held the man in such high regard. As the video says, he wasn't afraid. To be different. To let his mind be free. To be let his imagination be all that it could be.

My aunts husband's grandfather was friends with Dali. He has some of his original works and I might get to go down with fam to Brazil to his home and see Dali's work!!!!!!!
The music doesn't fit. In fact, it's ironic because Dali didn't even care much for music.
