  • Jackson Pollock and jazz are made for each other.

  • So, ok...Pollack was the last tune of the concert. Very extended, maybe a 12 or 14 minute tune. No accordion. There was the 'bone battle in the middle between all 3 'bones. I don't think there was a Wynton solo, but a free for all between Wynton, Printup, and Kisor. There were some background things played that Ted conducted from the chair tpt play a chord, then tbns then saxes, all off a point to the section. I hope they record one of these live performances and put it out.

  • And listening to this here and then live (Pollock was kind of extended) re-enforces my first thoughts: What if Charles Mingus and Herbie Nichols got together and wrote a a long form for a jazz orchestra?

  • Yes, it is a reference to the Branford album. LCJO was in my town last night and I checked it out. The 2nd set, they played in this order, Dali, Picasso, Chagall, and ended with Pollock. Pollock was very much extended. I took lessons from Ted and a couple of improv classes from him in college. I get to hang out with him every 2 years or so, when he's in a various town that I'm in with LCJO. Hey, any way for you to shoot me your email privately? We can discuss all things Ted & the concert

  • Thank you davidjclarke23 for posting this. It's some of the most amazing shit that I've heard in a long time.

  • @triojeep

Glad you like the music. I'm a big fan of Ted Nash, all of his stuff I've heard is terrific. I've got most of the rest of the 'Seven Shades' album up here, just need to get the 'Monet' up there and it's complete. Is you username a reference to the Branford album?
