  • WOW that is really cool. Didn't know they made anything like that back then.

  • megusta

  • Nice!

  • oooh so beautiful x

  • @scar504 My daily carry watch was made in 1955 and it's only had maintenance every 2 years, no repairs. I have watches from the 1850's all the way to the 1910's that still run. A good watch that is taken care of can last 50 to 150 years or more. The "made in china" walmart pocket watch may last 6 months.

  • very nice - see other antique pocket watches 123dalmi

  • it's very nice so antique beauty very smart

  • master piece

  • that's the coolest watch i've ever seen in my life. besides rolex and stuff like that.

  • does anyone know the average life expectancy for a pocket watch?

  • @scar504 depends on the quality of the watch and the owner.

  • Simply amazing! Charles Dickens' wrote a Christmas Carol in 1842 ... actor George C Scott playred Scrooge and displayed a repeater pocket watch. NIce video. Also amazing how much work was involved to wind up and all thje cases. LOL .. thanks. =)

  • Wat next a third case

  • i love pocketwatch, gonna be collector. this one in the video is a treasure

  • Simply beautiful.

  • You must be very proud of yourself to be able to get such a piece of history back in working order.

  • Rare item la :D

  • What a wonderful thing, and so expertly crafted. Did you purchase it as a collector? Has it been in your family?

  • nice watch if i had one like this i woud use i everyday lol

  • that is an amazing watch :>

  • My dad taught me when I was young to push the button as you are closing the watch so that you don't wear out the clasp. Being dirt farmers, we had to make things last.

  • It's like a russian nesting watch. That thing must be huge when it's all assembled. Very cool though.

  • That's better than a Swiss

  • English craftsmanship at it's best. Those were the days of quality, unlike today when everything is made of plastic and falls apart just before the guarantee runs out. I shouldn't think anything made today will still be working in 300+ years. We don't seem to make anything now, we just import a load of crap from china and elsewhere when we could be making everything ourselves. I wonder how much it would cost to make a quality English Pocket Watch now?

  • @uncled39 good point, its unfortunate how things are, thats why i like buying antiques. you can find people on the internet that do make and repair antique pieces like this.

  • @uncled39 There is at least one modern mechanism which stands every chance of working in 300 year's time - the mechanical action pipe organ.

  • @Offshoreorganbuilder Interesting answer, but I was thinking of everyday household items, like modern clocks, watches, TV's, hi-fi, white goods and other cheap and shoddy muck. I'm still putting my money on the antique pocket watch lasting another three centuries. I'll come back in another three hundred years and see if you're right.

  • @uncled39 I have to agree with you, in that case, if you are looking for an example of a complicated, domestic machine. The items you mention are, indeed, muck, though it must be amitted that the pocket watch would certainly not be working, if it had not been carefully and skillfully repaired, down the years. Given suitable repair, perhaps some of the 'muck' would still be staggering on?Having said that, I'm with you in prefering the pocket watch (of which I have 4.)They're much more attractive.

  • @uncled39 yes nowadays you're lucky if your genuine "american"(made in china) product will last until you get it out of the box let alone several years let alone several HUNDRED years

  • excuse my language in advance, but holy shit! thats fucking amazing!!! where did u get your hands on a watch like that?

  • Magnificent piece you have there, truly beautiful work of art.

  • Work of art!

  • You should make a video "10 day old Chinese watch still working"

  • I just got a pocket watch. I love these things they are so cool

  • how much money do you want for the pocket watch

  • @dimitrizeman100 Its probably worth more than u will make in ur life

  • dear santa....

  • Wow! A very beautiful watch.

  • @Harrisdude i would sell my kidney for a 300 year old watch

  • Wow! One of the most beautiful watches I've ever seen. Thanks for sharing.

  • wow i have a new preseation for pocket watches now

  • These things will always be better than electric watches because they can run for hundreds of years if properly maintained

  • omg... is that for sale? its beautiful !

  • @orion1077 The first pocket watch was made in 1509 in Germany.

  • l just had a steampunkgasm.

  • @amazingonion This watch was made long before the steampunk age.

  • @amazingonion except you steampunks always take them apart for the gears.

  • if the watch was made in London (not cased in London),

'our nation' is an odd addition.

do you really think Americans and Englishmen are the same nation?

I though English watch industry never was in avante-garde state. They usually did the casing and stamped fusee movements up to 20s century.

  • @assa123assa123

your completely wrong not only were they making good time pieces also the best scientific instruments in the world during this period and probably the most famous of all time pieces, John Harrison's marine chronometer solving the problem of longitude.

  • Hi

What is appraisal value for this watch!

  • 300+ ? ? ? Is that correct? I thought watches were around only since the 1800s. That would make them no older than 200+...although I might be wrong

  • @orion1077 1500's yo

  • i agree with you 100% on America, now send me that watch!!!

  • beautiful watch. im jealous. may i ask where you got it?

  • three teir? that's sweet!

  • That's a work of art!

  • Is it for sale?

  • BEAUTIFUL!

  • Thanks for the nice comments. Why with bare hands? The same reason in my other videos I'm riding an 1800s high-wheel bicycle and racing historic car wheels to wheel. Besides, I restored all of these things.

  • @putsch1 haha nice. very nice pocket watch. im 18 and id LOVE to have one like this!!

  • @sxephlI go to walmart and in the watch section they have new smaller ones with designs on the front ...i got 1 for my birthday

  • Why are you handling it with bare hands?!

  • Superb!!!, One of the cleanest examples I've seen.

  • love the completely unrelated political commentary in the description

  • nice early fusee...where abouts did you get it?...how much ? ive got a couple from mid 1700 too...not as nice as yours though...:)
