Someday I hope we see a definitive book explicating why we had the Bushevik Iraq invasion: Feith - reflexive Israeli government fealty; Bolton - hawkish oily nationalist; Cheney - the same plus dough for business affiliates; Rumsfeld - a real man's war to solidify power and his "reason to be;" Powell - foolhardy loyalty; Rice - ignorance and loyalty; but Dubya...? Was it a strange brew of Daddy avenging, bravado, and Rovian re-election calculation? Anyway, lots of death was the result.

People in Europe could actually see this before we could. It seems so clear in retrospect. Although I agree, this was pretty early to make such and observation. Bush's approval rating was almost 90% when Wead said this. No one was listening.

Well, I read Wead's book, which was really pro Bush, but this argument is very profoundly developed in the book and it is the most compelling argument I have seen. There is much more detail in the book.
