I partially listen to these also to hear who it works with the music. Playing without the music would probably hide mistakes better than playing with it, just because you can't guage if you stay in time etc. as well as if the whole band is playing.
Thats an intricate piece from DT, very well done my man. Dont listen to the jealous inferior grime heads on here, I know for a fact after listening to some of them, that you are twice the player they could ever hope to be. I have 30 years playing experience and cant nail down DT as well as you do. Just dont have the time, and admire that you TOOK the time to learn all those parts. Very nice accomplishment dude. Im waiting for my axe-fx to be delivered to replace my mesa rig. Cheers dude!
@allanjenny What an ignorant comment. I was merely giving him critic for his playing and never once stated I was better than him. I was giving him feedback for him to improve his playing, if he even read my comment.
This song is quite a common song to cover when covering Dream Theater and therefore the expectations are higher.
@Alfieboii Sorry you took such offence, but I am far from ignorant, what is ignorant is your comment that its an OK cover, and as you added, I guess? Now, being the good player that you are, you should be a little more sensitive with YOUR comments. Otherwise, you are open game to others comments. Saying that its just ok, implies that you could do better in my humble opinion. Just my two cents. Choose your words more carefully perhaps.

I'm always glad to hear positive remarks as well as constructive ones. I do however not think my criticism was unsensitive because my aim was for it to be constructive. Like most people putting guitarvideos on YouTube you'd want someone to comment on your playing and perhaps shed some light on how to improve.
