Xcaret is one of a number of turtle habitats sanctioned to preserve and foster the successful hatching and release of the sea turtle. There are too many predators and too many humans walking the beaches where they naturally hatch. During the day the predators snatch them up by the hundreds... that is why you see them in a pool... to give them a place to acclimate to the waters that wait. They are usually released after sunset when they have a better chance of making it to open water!

I'm pretty sure depending on where you live in the world, the amount of chlorine wouldnt affect them. Then again, the build-up of waste CERTAINLY might. Remember, these guys get BIG.

Its my absolute dream to own one of these, but they require so much attention and care and specialist equipment that often it defeats the purpose.
