  • I listen to this cut when I need a lift. Thank you Johnny A.

  • I've became an immediate fan while listening to this, WHAT-TA TONE!!!!

  • His guitar. Is FUCKING amazing

  • this dude is under Steve Vai's Favored Nations label.\m/ Johnny A. rocks!

  • there is no life to this guy at all...

  • The reason why people don't go out anymore is because we live in this funky 2011 Police State. This is the age of The Gulag Industry. Law Enforcement is a bully shakedown. And that's why I stay home.

  • i have played gibson, fender, ibanez, and to let everybody know that this fella is as good as it gets. people can say he is bad until you listen all genre's of music do not judge. i just think i could learn a lot from this guy

  • h0bo4life - you obviously know nothing about playing the guitar. Even if you don't like his music, you can not deny that he is extremely talented. That guitar he is playing is his signature model made by Gibson. Deaf community? Tell that to Gibson.

  • saw these guys live in a bar in dayton ohio, they were amazing live

  • zzzzzzzz

  • Thanks clydeman for all your efforts. This guy is fantastic. I'm glad I don't know as much about equipment, brand names, etc, as these other commenters, because I can still feel the music.

    Great channel, thanks!

    Bob

  • what tuning is johnny in here?

  • @traviswaynejohnson standard

  • @traviswaynejohnson Standard.

  • what kind of bigsby is that and what kind of pick guard

  • Has Prince been at the bleach trying to take after Micheal Jackson.......?

  • word

  • nice johnny. keep up the good work. never stop being a johnny

  • Digging Johnny and the bass player.......not so much the busy Slingy chopper!

  • @tophatjohnny .... the worst thing about him is that splash cymbal .... that thing has no place in blues ... i also dont like his over all sound ...way too tight , way to thin .... no soul

  • A true masterpiece ! Especially at 1:00 en 2:50: what a catchy riff !

  • J adore !

  • I feel like the bassist at around 0:40 when I listen to this song

  • Wow! I didn't know commissioner Gordon was such a soulful guitarist.

  • 17 dislikes? are you people nuts?!? johnny A...you are the MAN. great tone...great concept for blues / jazz / rock. i love this guy.

  • How smooth! And a great pair to help him sound even better... I like the jazz/rock and blues combined, its a great mix...

  • This sounds like a sunny sunday morning.

  • OH YEAH, SALDUDOS DESDE PERU

  • Haa Haa !! This is the hold music for my local Harley Davidson Dealer!!! I love this !!

  • what kind of guitar is that?

  • @jblahlblahgblah it's a fucking kick ass guitar and also a semi acoustic gibson

  • @jblahlblahgblah ...it's johnny a's signature Gibson model. they go for about $3K on eBay or so. And they are awesome axes.

  • @MiiKEDiiESEL7 Damn Man, Please introduce me! I'd liove to take a lesson with Johnny

  • Saw him play in Andover MA in 2010. Amazing.

  • you know how i discovered this guy ?

i was typing list of guitarists on wikipedia and found him first :D

  • Jörg Kachelmann :D

  • yeah...perfect music to chill =D

  • Not the slickest, not the fastest, not the best, BUT GEEzus that's good.

  • yeahh xD

  • Hi brother needs to chat a, Asian women busizz4me.info

  • I've seen him perform several times and each time his music blows me away.

  • what a beautiful guitar... shit

  • despite what anyone thinks or says i think he has taken the barney kessel gibson to new heights, that is one sexy guitar.

  • The guy can obviously play and is very good, but all the gushing is a little overboard. This guy is no Eric Johnson or Steve Vai.

  • johhnie a is so-o fuckin' incredible! this cat it the top of the rockabilly-jazz world forever. the bassist is a bit stiff.

  • best living guitarist? maybe so.

  • rediculous talent

  • thats my name ur hanging on >< ^^

  • Oh Yeah! Johnny is good Ole' Boston boy ... from Methuen, Minga! Used to watch him at Whipper Snappers in Londonderry regularly. Common down to Austin Johnny!

  • sweet song

  • Just bought your signature model guitar which by the way is quite possibly the best guitar I have ever played, no guarantees I can play this sweetheart as good as you can but I will try my best. haha. Keep on playin' brother and see you next time you are in Southern Ohio.

  • this video just... puts a grin on my face

  • SO TALENTED!!

  • I guess A is for ACE, UBETCHA!!!!!!

  • I lovr It..

I think that all the young people who play and show their video on the net should rather be guided by this kind of music, this is MUSIC! Not just the notes linked at high speed without the slightest emotion, you ROCK Johnny A ( please forgive my english, I'm french :P )

  • A great example of hard work paying off. And original at that... simply GREAT! He needs better marketing/management to help break out into the mainstream.

  • Saw him Sat. nite in front of about 50 people in a little shit club...Stood 3 feet from him for 90 minutes..The dude is a total virtuoso...Just an incredibly talented musician..

  • @crayhead Seen him 3 times, and I couldn't agree more. His shows are simple, and that's all they need to be. Always creates a great atmosphere.

  • It's nice to see that Johnny is getting some recognition. A couple years ago this vid only had a couple thousand views, now it's nearing 200k.

  • Very nice...

  • Gudgelboy is absolutely right, I had never heard of Johnny A until reading about him recently in my VIntage Guitar magazine. SInce then, I've acquired a few of his CD's and just order his new DVD. Awesome. Wanted to even order his guitar, but the price tag prohibited that investment. :)

  • Thanks, very nice!!!

  • hell no

  • lets drink some beers baby

  • Definitely Ear Candy! I have seen Johnny A twice at the guitar show in Dallas, always awesome.

  • I will pay when I earn

  • this is like eric johnson playing the blues. haha

  • pour moi c'est tellement bon que je me le repasse de temps en temps

    que du plaisir

  • Great tones. Nobody plays Marshalls for their clean tone. Very nice, love it.

  • bass tab?

  • This is a Blues Medley that I performed at Berklee College of Music last November. I love Johnny A's playing and I'm only posting my video here because I am a student of the guitar/ specifically the blues. I have videos of me playing with Buddy Guy as well, I am so inspired by hearing these great musicians! Thank you Johnny A!

  • Wicked pissa

  • Never heard of him. Glad I found this.

  • awesome playing. But I can't believe such accomplished players can't hear that the guitar and the bass aren't in tune with each other. Bothers the hell out of me.

  • I did, and the guitar was well worth the cash- trust me

  • This is so awesome !! Now I've got to collect my jaw from the floor though..

  • Heard this on the Boston radio station 'The River' this morning and had to get an album straight away. Great guitarist and really creative tunes. Love it !

  • Good rythm & blues !!! Esto es ritmo, swing, feeling... Saludos from Spain !!

  • he plays so good that he doesnt even need to sing his guitar are his vocals and they have a great voice

  • he kinda looks like prince in this video haha

p.s. i think prince is awesome

  • nice gibson guitar

  • Ha...he only has his own freakin Gibson Johnny A signature guitar...now that's class for a player very few have heard of...rock on Johnny. Anyone got $3500 to spare?

  • Yeah!!

  • Excellent!!!

    Grandma Mary

  • awsome

  • really great song !

  • I just saw him in Maine this past Friday....awesome show! This guy is a great talent that no one knows of....not flashy, but knows how to use the guitar to creates great sounding music!

  • a little bit

  • Love the albums and Johnny A's tone. Amazing work.

  • this is pretty good

  • id say Johnny and Eric Johnson could do a nice Country/Jazz colab together just picture what the two of them could come up with!!! :D

  • put a period after the A.... and why would you pay for music? ha

  • someone actually respects the artist enough to want to support them? instead of stealing their lifework...lol maybe...

  • what's his full name?

nothing comes up on itunes it i put johnny a

  • Jamming........

  • I love his guitar

  • Ha i just saw these guys, or at least Johnny A at the Mt. Park (holyoke MA.) opening day free concert. He was pretty fucking good but i thought he should have done something other then just Jam. But I never knew he was very big...

  • kool

  • juicy

  • creamy sound. love it

  • Exactly what I like. Awsome !

  • cool

  • goodness this guy can play. only in youtube can i listen to this. no cds available here in the philippines.

  • Most gorgeous guitar ever made.

  • definitely

  • oh yeah :)

  • cool as dry ice!!

  • What is the short bio on this guy? I had never heard of him until I saw a Gibson Johnny A guitar on the GC website. Man he can play!

  • the song should be call FUCK YEAH!!!

  • Oh hot damn.

  • Did anyone see that weird bass?

    Funny looking thing that was...

  • Cool looking funny thing.

    Iunno. I liked it.

  • I think its a MusicMan bass, but im not sure

  • looks like a musicman bongo if you're interested in the model

  • Yes, it's a MusicMan bass. I don't like its line but I heard that it has a good sound..

  • This song is just... Oh Yea!!

  • Awesome!

  • Fantastic player and writer. But his video does not do him justice. The producer and director of this filming are so OLD SCHOOL. Johnny deserves better than this with contemporary shooting and editing, not something that looks 20 years old. But see him live and he is AMAZING. Great player!

  • The video looks fine, nice and clean, no jerky friggin' angled shots, lens tricks, or stylized effects. You can see the action, cut to wide shot, close up of his hands etc. Personally, I would rather see what the musician is playing than be distracted by a lot of 'contemporary shooting and editing'. This style will hold up over time instead of looking ridiculous in a few years like a lot of 'contemporary' BS.

  • there's only 1 JOHNNY A and he's out here hustling 4 real

  • hahah!

  • i love playing this song!

  • Muy bueno si señor

  • Ooooh yeah!

  • Its amazing that Johnny A is relatively unknown but then I see people commenting on Tommy Emanuel videos that theyd never heard of him either...

hmmm one Wonders how much cash it would take to set up a world tour for some of these virtual unknowns....

people would definately turn up if it was promoted right....

Seriously, if u saw Johnny A advertised as coming to your town and the add said look him up on youtube and you saw this, how could u not go ????

  • U know what I always hate about this song when I listen to it?

    It finishes....

I wish it just kept going and I could have it playing while i do other stuff online...

  • I hate it.... that I love jazz the way I do! Wonderful job, now I can't stop listenin' to it! Now I have to go listen to all the other ones... oh well, never-the-less, you did a great job on this and it's just a pure joy listenin'!

    Billo

  • ok that is weird good player

  • GooD

  • Good one!, like he has combined Chester Atkins, Randy Bachman and Claptones' "Cocaine" and come up with...Muzak.

  • Fuck yourself, this guy is putting in his soul into something that sounds great and you are insulting him?

  • 1:01

  • This man is one of the best kept secrets in the whole guitar world, how he can be that good & not be a household name is very strange indeed!

  • yeah I don't unbderstnd that either ..but he is well know among musicans....you don't get a Gibson signature series guitar named after you if you're an unknown....he's great though

  • @gudgelboy

hey buddy there sucj great players out there...

The reason they are not known is because the audiences these days are pricks.

    Its that simple.

  • @gudgelboy

hey buddy there such great players out there...

The reason they are not known is because the audiences these days are pricks.

Its that simple. Few Quality listeners to go around and support these gifted artists. Now if this boy hide a cucumber in his pants and announced he was bisexual he would be booked solid in stadiums for 2 years. Such is the sad state of the music biz nowadays.

  • @awesomejohnnet Couldn't have said it better myself ! At least there are a few of us that know what real guitar is all about.

  • @awesomejohnnet

I am a sad old fart (born 1960) that saw some of the greatest

bands of my time when i was a young buck (Thin Lizzy;AC/DC

Scorpions,Queen..... you get my drift. In those days we didn't now how the fuck anyone looked like and we didn't care!

These days i'm ashamed that so few can bother to get of there ass

and go and see a band and try to pay forward the great time we had

when we where young and talent and creativity where more importanr than looks.

  • @MrKarlsson118 I can sympathize with you, being a child of the 70's I saw the transition of pop culture and music, from great bands to mass marketing bs. Being a bit younger than you, I know plenty of people in their early 20's who are demanding the same quality of musicianship, don't feel left out, the feeling is mutual among many generations. The music industry has dug it's own grave by focusing on parents of 9-14yr old tweens/teens for the past 30 years. But kids grow up and develop ears..

  • @MrKarlsson118 you try finding a band worth seeing that tours everywhere now a days.

  • @MrKarlsson118 I couldn't take your comment seriously do to the hideous grammar/English.

  • 3:10 drum solo

  • 3:O5 DRUM SOLO

  • He's a great player, but I am so sick of blues I could scream, sorry. Some of the guys I know who played progressive and neoclassical now play blues only, seems like kind of a backward step, if you like it, great.

  • to top it off he is the same age and looks 15yrs younger!

  • great!!!

    this guitarrist is sooooo goood!
