P.s can I suggest anyone using google not sign in with their real name and email on youtube any longer. Unless of course you want them incorporating every aspect of your life into one profile and identity regarding anything you do on the internet. The location of where and when you are, including your email when doing a search should be a red flag to anyone. I've already had advertisers sending spam to friends when looking for Christmas presents. Creepy bastards. I wonder what comes next...
Did part #5 have breasts in it I wonder? Some numpti reported it I imagine. Youtube/Google you stink, rather horribly I might add. Guns, blood and violence ok... breasts, VERBOTEN!!!
@jakespick thats because Lynch makes films then tells no one what they are about. He has that weird fucking philosophy that people should just guess what they mean, but it is completely flawed, for all we know he could just be making up any old shit and just laughing at watching people treat it as art and a work of genius.
@bragtheface I think it's more to do with what 'you' think, and about what's going on, not being told what to think or feel. Not in regards to you, but I've always found It strange conservatives who want a devolved state (government telling them what to do) are usually the ones who hate open minded types of media the most and complain about 'mixed messages' and 'ambiguity' when it comes to film. They want a resolve that isn't there.
@bragtheface Also, I presume you made it past the first three parts enough so you realised when listening to him that he isn't "making up any old shit" and "laughing" or trying to con you because you didn't get 'it' or feel odd about watching his films. Why do you expect to be spoon fed ideas, you're out the cradle now. Think for yourself.
I've watched more of his work now and conpletely appreciate it for what it is. I forgot to add in the previous comment that I actually love David Lynch stuff. But the whole culture of "trying to figure out" his works irritates me.
The simple fact isthat Mulholland Drive was originally a pilot to a tv show he was going to make but it gotcancelled, he then edited a lot of footage and made a film. It's brilliant, but the "meaning" isn't there
The interviewer deserves to be kicked in the nuts at 8:38. How condescendingly rude. I don't believe in angels either, but I'd never use that tone with someone, especially someone I'm interviewing. Lynch should put his cigarette out in the guys face and see if he sees any angels THEN.
I regret criticizing this particular interviewer because he actually seems to ask the right questions at the right time, and manages to draw a lot out of Lynch.
I'm from Turkiye and i just wanna be like him.Very creative prodigy of surrealism and absurdism.Post modern great vision of horror and maybe the life itself!
David Lynch is definitely inspiring. I've decided to pick up a camera and start filming short movies because of him. I doubt I could ever make a movie quite like him though. David Lynch is a one of a kind film maker. A very amazing man.

I was really enjoying this interview. It's too bad Studio Canal won't let me watch part five :(
AgonizedCandle 1 year ago
why does david lynch say I used to know for every movie?
kikkirow 1 year ago
I simply cannot accept that Studio Canal blocked part 5... and I can even accept ducks, even if they're against the ninja code.

Thanks for the upload, it's a pity that I can't watch part 5, Canal Plus have decided to block it from being viewed, well I can't see it in the UK

Can't watch part 5, what a shame, still it was a brilliant interview regardless :)

I'm sorry but Mark Cousins seems like such a dumbass. Everything he assumes about Lynch's films is wrong and corrected by David.

@bragtheface I already knew all the answers to those idiotic questions & could've corrected Cousins myself.

his speaking voice is exactly like jerry springer.

The use of the Twin Peaks theme during his speech about the reception of his movies is pretty inspirational.
I'm not a huge fan of some of his work, but I've got a lot of respect for him. Very intelligent man and very good at what he does.

David Lynch talking with the 'Twin Peaks' music playing in the background actually almost reduces me to tears.

I had a similar reaction. his artistic integrity is beautiful and rare amongst todays filmmakers.

david lynch is absolutely not post modern, and that's a very good thing. If you want to see postmodern movies look at tarantino's ones.

Such a beautiful sequence from Blue Velvet, a beautifully bizarre song like Orbison's "In Dreams", and the surreal dance of Dean Stockwell.
