  • the stage looks like an aquarium

  • Joan Rivers knew what was up.

  • Essa musica e muito boa

  • Fucking great. This is up there with Pere Ubu appearing on the Roland Rat Show.

  • I Love the Huskers,But thats way to surreal,And a terrible performance

  • Amazing. This performance could've happened 5 years later and no one would've batted an eye. But in 1987 this was a true rarity among all the Randy Rhoads impersonators.

  • wow!!..love 'em both..thank you v.much for preserving and posting :]]

  • geraldo rivera rockin' out!

  • WHAT?!?!

  • What the hel

  • sounds much better live at Liberty Lunch, if there still was a Liberty Lunch...

  • I seem to remember Joan had Public Enemy on at one point, too. Someone on her staff had taste.

  • @hypersquared i dont think her staff had anything to do it - as joan had mentioned in the interview, they had just signed with warner bros records... this was a case of warner bros asking for (or collecting on) a favor from the show's producers. a major label is going to leverage their industry contacts to market you as best they can.. joan's staff probably did choose the two other guests "coming up next" on the show - an 85-yr-old marathon runner and actor ian mckellan...

  • husker du + joan rivers? wtf is going on

  • no one mentioned that Joan fucked up the song title on the intro.

  • GREAT live version, very nearly as good as the original.

  • That song is quite different from the record...

  • you're quite different from the damn record you damn hippy

  • You mean the one I´m recording at the moment, bloody skinhead?

  • That blond granny really sucks...!

  • Hilarious to see them on this show. Joan Rivers looks like she died a preserved dead woman. :-)

  • did WB pay for the painted trees?

  • Geraldo and Greg need to have a battle of mustaches.

Greg would win every time, of course.

  • Grant is such a fascinating character and let me explain:

    Did he steal Seinfeld's jacket?

Did his nose get broke by a white supremacist flung chair?

    At-il un tickler très large?

Did he find a Rock Lobster?

  • man shes the worst tv show hoist ive ever seen

" whos the calm one, whos the wild one?"

i bet not even the menudos or the backstreet boys get to ansewrw these type of questions

  • jesus christmas - I shit my butt when I read this!!!!!!!!!

  • awesome! but I wonder what compelled Bob to sing an alternate verse melody?

  • Such a kick ass band that i hold very dear to me, but god they look ridiculous in this clip. Mould is the only one who looks half normal, Grants shirt and trouser combiation is something else alright, and Greg....yeah, it takes a certain individual with the balls to grow that moustache.

Still though, those were better days for all the above reasons.

  • yea, they might look somewhat strange, but that doesn't really matter.

    The music is great.

    The stache rules.

  • that's what punk rock looked like before MTV got its mitts on it and turned it into another fashion horse! nothing is more punk rock than Greg's handlebar moustache and white sneakers amidst a sea of mohawks and shaved heads and leather biker jackets and doc martins

  • @wjb67ii Great comment man. :) Luckily the Huskers came along, among others, and blew away all those fucking 80's hair bands.

  • husker du on joan rivers?? my world is now complete.

  • She looks like a monkey..

  • yes sir, she does

  • Christ, where did you FIND this?!!!

  • perfect pop song from a kick arse band

  • One of the best bands ever

  • Such a great song, and such a rare chance to see them interviewed before they imploded

  • oh my words, this is priceless

  • Equally weird was the Today Show appearance around the same time with Bryant Gumbel. Would love to see tha one pop up here, too...

  • It was up for a while, but got taken down for some reason.

  • NBC = Universal. I think that all NBC items were pulled. I had forgotten that. Too bad that we misssed it..

  • @Woofpop It's at: /watch?v=Kmk_Fw1GrMk "Husker Du live 5/20/87 Interview/Could You Be The One?" posted by user HUSKERchout

  • this is what sex feels like?

  • Music is love is made is sex

  • They should have done some tracks from LAND SPEED RECORD that would have killed the audience. Would have been nice if Joan got the title of the song right:)

  • Joan Rivers is the last person i would ever imagine holding a husker du record in her hands, just doesn't make any sense

  • bizarr

  • weirdest thing i've yet seen. huh?

  • never thought i'd see this :)

  • latest album, she's shows some vinyl. Priceless TV

  • That was cool. Joan Rivers did have some good questions. Maybe she is just intelligent as well as brash.

  • moustache.

  • Chronologically the most important band after Led Zeppelin, along with R.E.M. Everything that came afterward in ROCK owes a debt to those 2 bands.

  • Almost as magical as GG Allen on Regis and Kathy Lee in '91.

  • Joan actually asked some pretty good questions, props to her writers. I liked how Bob said as you get older "its not just screaming about how messed up the government is and that you hate your parents" anymore. Amen to that!

  • There is another copy of this video on youtube which sounds better and has the other song.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vefkvjcjNj8

  • Wonder what the blue-hairs in the audience thought of this.

  • The stage props rule

  • eu procurava por isso durante anos Husker du gratto

I1m searching for that during long years

    Thanks

  • I usually believe what my eyes and ears tell me. Joan Rivers saying the words "Warehouse: Songs and Stories" is such a violent non-sequitur that my brain cannot make sense of it any more than it could if Sasquatch knocked on my door and asked me if I wanted to learn about Jehovah's Witnesses.

  • That was pretty God damn fucking amazing.

  • what the bloody hell is husker du doing on joan rivers?!

  • killer...right up there with iggy & the stooges on the dinah shore show.

  • Wow, I heard about this performance years ago, but being from England I obviously never got to see it. Thanks for posting!

  • This was recorded at Fox Studios, Hollywood, CA

On 4/27/87 they also performed "She's A Woman (And Now He Is A Man)" after the interview segmant.

Possibly the most cringe-worthy interviews ever!

There seems to be a language barrier yet the two parties'primary language is English!

Playing to a better medley ?!?

    Joan is the worst.

  • In my semi-vast and unorganized collection there is footage of the Huskers on the Today Show from this same time. Bryant Gumble (sp?) interviews Mould before "Could You Be The One". Right as Mould takes the solo he must notice the cameras ready to cut away because he shoots this look at Gumble that could melt ice. Tense. The band didn't look too happy to be playing in the cool Minneapolis spring morning, but it's as good as this clip.

  • The name of the game is spelled with macrons to emulate Scandinavian letters with macrons over them (even if macrons are only used in hand-written text). The game was also the source of the name of the US punk rock band Hüsker Dü, replacing the macrons with umlauts (maybe inspired by other heavy metal umlauts).

  • Hūsker Dū? is a young children's memory game originally published in Sweden in the 1950s, which is still in print. Without macrons, the name means "Do you remember?" in Danish and Norwegian.

  • Wow.. really cool to see.

  • My girlfriend has wanted to see this for about 20 years...thanks for posting it!

  • Awww, Grant is cute.

.. but Hüsker Dü isn't Danish. It's Norwegian and Swedish. Danish however, doesn't have umlauts. Weird they don't even know the language of their own band name.

But this is a great clip. I'd wish there were some videos from their Zen Arcade or New Day Rising years.

  • it's spoken exactly the same, since i'm danish lol.

  • This is awesome, thanks for posting. They also played She's A Woman (And Now He Is A Man) at the end.
