I lucked out by finding the same video in a news story and so decided to add the info here so we could all better understand what had happened.

He was taken to Coastal Recovery Center Inc. for an involuntary mental evaluation and released less than 24 hours later. At the convenience store in November, he had 3 concealed guns. He had no reason to pull a gun on an unarmed man, plus he shot Howard in the Back.

If I am attacked by an armed or unarmed man it is in my right as a concealed weapon holder to defend myself. If the guy turns while I am shooting and he gets hit in the back too bad. In another story it said that once Kallenbach ran outside the store he fired his gun several more times but missed hitting anyone. About him keeping the concealed permit, go to the Herald Tribune and search Paul Kallenbach and read the story "Health experts missed threat that police saw." It explains what happened & what might have gone wrong.

I was at the school in the V.P.s office the whole time, & finally a V.P. came in & told me to go back to class. I learned what happened when I went to work after school. Once I had told them what I went through with the police my boss and his wife apologized to me. I told them it was totally unacceptable and quit right there and then.
Part 3, During the fight several shots were fired and at least two people in the store ducked behind a counter.
After Kallenbach lost the gun he pulled out a second gun and started shooting at Howard, who fired back with the gun he had taken from Kallenbach, according to police.
Howard was shot in the torso and arm. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

I'm not involved in the case, and live a couple thousand miles away, it just bothered me that this video didn't have any context or information, not even the names of the people or place where it occurred. I lucked out by finding the same video in a news story and so decided to add the info here so we could all better understand what had happened.

Stan Duncan says he told other officers “we’ll hear from this guy again” after they seized an arsenal of loaded guns and ammunition from a paranoid and confused Paul Kallenbach. He was taken to Coastal Recovery Center Inc. for an involuntary mental evaluation and released less than 24 hours later. At the convenience store in November, he had 3 concealed guns. He had no reason to pull a gun on an unarmed man, plus he shot Howard in the Back.

If I am attacked by an armed or unarmed man it is in my right as a concealed weapon holder to defend myself. If the guy turns while I am shooting and he gets hit in the back too bad. The guy must have had a very bad lawyer, made incriminating statements (rule number one NEVER NEVER NEVER talk to the police without a lawyer), or there is more to the story.

@subicbrat. Well he did plead guilty! In one Herald Tribune story it said Kallenbach faced up to a life sentence in prison if convicted at trial. In another story it said that once Kallenbach ran outside the store he fired his gun several more times but missed hitting anyone. About him keeping the concealed permit, go to the Herald Tribune and search Paul Kallenbach and read the story "Health experts missed threat that police saw." It explains what happened & what might have gone wrong.

My buddy's (criminal lawyer) advice is to say your name, where you live & you want to speak to your lawyer [insert name]. As a teen, police pulled me from class & bullied me trying to get me to admit I stole $ from work. Later my boss called--he found it--I put wrong date on the $ drop in the safe.

I was at the school in the V.P.s office the whole time, & finally a V.P. came in & told me to go back to class. I learned what happened when I went to work after school. Once I had told them what I went through with the police my boss and his wife apologized to me. I told them it was totally unacceptable and quit right there and then.

After Kallenbach lost the gun he pulled out a second gun and started shooting at Howard, who fired back with the gun he had taken from Kallenbach, according to police.
Howard was shot in the torso and arm. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Kallenbach was shot twice in the shoulder area and leg. He was taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital for his injuries, police said.

Police say Howard, who stood 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighed 245 pounds, somehow managed to wrestle the weapon away from Kallenbach, who is 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighs 300 pounds.
