  • Oh cool....youtube economists.

  • thanks to the Manchu, we Chinese (Han) got pushed back 50 years backward in technology. Ming was already exploring gun-powder weapons, the Manchu just want to use swords and bows. The Forbidden City was built by the Ming (Han Chinese). Manchu is tribe based people. They are hunters and gathers. When Han Chinese took over in 1949, we are the number 2 , soon, number 1 economic power. That says a lot.

  • China had been powerful. It's time for another to rise in power.

  • this video is great is wonderful thann`s

  • Chinese are awesome! They set examples for southeast countries, Korea and Japan to follow. It just let you wonder why phillipines can fail so much

  • @spike378 you MUST BE JOKING RIGHT? the southeast asian countries of vietnam, laos, and cambodia are FAILURES because of their oppressive communist governments and are SLAVE states to china. South Korea and Japan are prosperous democratic and capitalist countries due to the influence of The United States of America and are WESTERNIZED. the southeast asian countries are cess pools of corruption, crime and communism that oppresses their people.

  • @SocratesTheGadfly economic development is depended on culture and free market and not the government. Dont think that the western concept are so powerful, they not. In fact, Japan and South Korea wants to distant themselves from the western worlds. In america, communism are taught as the mortal enemy of democracy but in reality asia careless about your concepts.

  • @spike378 REALLY? why dont you ask the one hundred fifty million people MURDERED by communism since it was IMPOSED upon the world by the criminal vladimir ulianov in 1917. I am POSITIVE that they will strongly disagree. furthermore, economic development is dependent upon the creative human mind and the FREEDOM that allows for opportunity to improve ones life. communism DESTROYS Freedom, Liberty and Independence.

  • @SocratesTheGadfly Well, I think you're forgetting the fact that slavery, numerous modern wars (including two world wars), extreme disparity of wealth during the18th and 19th century Europe, and more were all by-products capitalism. Communism came about as a response to the kind of extreme form of a capitalism we saw in the past, and it reformed it for the better, as you're techically living in a mixed economy in America.

  • @bluemonolith88 WRONG! you mention the disparity between classes but fail to mention let alone recognize the disparity that exists in the communist countries that MURDERED over one hundred fifty million of its own people during the past 95 plus years. communism is an evil ideology that is just another form of oppression like the despotism of monarchy, imperialism and facism. mixed economies DO NOT WORK and "modern" europe is a prime example of that type of FAILURE!

  • @SocratesTheGadfly A mixed economy is what you have in the United States and just about all developed nations. In a pure capitalist economy, you're not supposed to have things like income tax, social security, securities and exchange regulations, medicare, anti-trust laws, etc. A pure capitalism didn't work in the 18th and 19th century, so communism came as a reponse, and pure capitalism integrated some communist concepts and evolved into a mixed economy that most developed nations have now.

  • @SocratesTheGadfly And when you start to talk about 200-300 year Western hegemony (which we are at a tail-end of) and why Japan and S. Korea's economy are where they are at right now, it gets pretty complicated. I think you're oversimplifying too much.

  • @spike378 Philippines failed because they were ruled by barbarian Spaniards for 333 years... and under the oppression of the Roman Catholic Church....As usual, the large Chinese population there still thrived regardless.

  • I'm proud to know that a Vietnamese was able to architect this.

  • Palace of versailles makes this place look like a $2 motel basement.

  • What?!! This is a bunch of lies. China is satins own.

  • @mtime6 That's not true...

  • The manchu really did nothing during their occupation...

all they do is... making sure they rule... at whatever cost...

one of the dumbest dynasty in China's history...

  • @cedarvaleave The officials serving Qing dynasty are much cleaner than those in CCP. The second highest positioned head official named Zuo Zongtang even rented a house when he ran the public office in Beijing.

  • @cedarvaleave Haha, they are, along with Yuan idiots, the dumbest dynasty in Chinese history.

  • Thank you so much for uploading. I've been reading books of Anchee Min (Empress Orchid, The Last Empress) and soon I will acquire Aisin Gioro's autobiography. The last dynasty of China appeals very interesting to me.

  • @ilovesamsungverymuch Me too. I was just browsing the library shelves and came across Anchee Min and started reading her novals...that is why I searched for this video. I'm going to start "Becoming Madam Mao" today. I am in love with chinese history, culture, and aesthetics, which happens to be very dynamic and complex.

  • @TheBopha20 We have the same interest. I also plan to buy "The Daughter of Heaven", too, to complete my collection. I quite have now a collection of Asian-themed books. If it is not too much to ask, please post here if "Becoming Madame Mao" is worth reading. Thank you and enjoy the book!

  • Kangxi was another high point, so to speak, to tell the truth though, there really hasn't been a "high point" since the Tang. All the important innovations, came during or before. Song gave us more varieties of tea and poetry I suppose.

  • The Foundations of the Forbidden city are actually made up of the Yuan Dynasty complex built by the Mongols. The Ming Palace as we know it today was built over it after it was torn down. And the Ming and Qing represent one of the peaks of Chinese history, apart from Qin, Han, Tang and Song. The Qing dynasty also reached a high point under KangXi, so the whole dynasty isnt weak. It was just Cixi who brought destruction upon China.

  • @jcwh89 Most Chinese people consider the end of "Chinese" rule when the Qing took over. This attitude is found mostly in the south of course, as the Manchus invaded from the north, their propaganda did not reach the south as much.

  • @jcwh89 not true, the Forbidden city was not built on the foundation of Yuan Dynasty palace. As an act of revenge, the Yuan Palace was completely burned to the ground, and an artificial mountain/garden was built on top called Jing Shan. To signify the return of Han rule, the Forbidden city was built ground up directly south of it or in front of it, anyway u put it.

  • The ponytails that the manchus wore were supposed to mimic horses' tails. Their heads represented the horses ass since they were stupid enough to believe that modernization was not necessary.

  • THE ASIAN RACE IS THE MOST POWERFUL, MOST PURE IN THE WORLD.............the white race??? THEY JUST FUCK CORPS

  • Chinese civilization is so superior!!

  • @geoffybellofiore superio t what and which chinese are you talking about?

  • @geoffybellofiore superior to what and which chinese are you talking about?

  • THE MANCHU RULERS HAD LESS BRAIN POWER THAN THE CHINESE, THAT WAS WHY IT WAS THE WEAKEST CHINESE DYNASTY IN HISTORY.

  • imagine u were the king ......DAMN

  • what song is this?

  • well,we can't expect westerners to tell the different dynasties in China= =

eh......The Qing dynasty is quite strange from other Chinese dynasties. What a shame........- -

At least, some of you should know, the Forbidden City wasn't built by Manchu....it is the great achievement created by Han Chinese or Ming dynasty

  • Da Qing guo wansui wansui wawasui! Wu Huang wansui wansui wanwansui!

Ive visited the foribidden city. I could see the Tiananmen gate from very far away, the sounth end of the tiananmen square. Taihedian was under a maintainance work? so i could not go into that . The Place was so impressive, I realy love Chinese culture!

  • vietnamese? haha, you might be a chinese in ethnicity, you might have to check with your parents. How long did vietnam got independent from china? can your read your own history? no cause it's not written in vietnamese.

  • Forbidden city was built by a Vietnamese named Nguyen An who was captured by Chinese as a prisoner. The Chinese didn't build the Forbidden City,it was a Vietnamese.

  • @nguyenluan

    lol

Forbidden city was built by one man,, and he was Vietnamese?? really, REALLY?? lol

  • @nguyenluan yes you might be right Deng he sent the P-L-A to north on February 17 1979 to find Nguyen an at coa bang but pham van dong hide that man all Deng he wants it to bring him to Beijing to repair forbidden city so the P-L-A puch to Lang son just to find MR an so many viet miss inform about conflict 1979 it all about china wants to find architect Nguyen an.

  • @nguyenluan

yes, 阮安(Nguyen An)was originally from 交趾 (vietnam). He was one of the initial designers of the forbidden place. 阮安 was a very able person who made a lot of other contributions and people loved him in his time. It was said that when he was dead he only had roughly 10 liang's(1 pound) silver as his belongings. He was not a prisoner at his time but rather a person that emperor YongLe trusted.

  • @nguyenluan another vietnamese who is trying so hard like the koreans to gain superiority in terms of race compared to chinese. ><

  • @MrJonslife

No need try.Because in fact VIetnamese designed mainly of Forbidden city Beijing! It is history

  • @BAIYUE1 So?

  • @BAIYUE1

    haha

you are giving all the credits to the VIetnamese Architect?

    There are 4 people involve,

Chief Architects were Cai Xin and eunuch Nguyen An, a Vietnamese

Chief Engineers were Kuai Xiang and Lu Xiang

As you see... 3 Chinese + 1 Vietnamese

by the way, during that time... part of Vietnam is under the influence of the Ming dynasty.

until Lê Dynasty manage to defeat Chinese-supported Mạc Dynasty

    Vietnam went into civil war....

  • @j6331

Wrong! you should read history again

Nguyen An-Chief executive and chief architect

Nguyen An is chief executive who trained thousands of CHinese workers, lead all of Chinese worker include Caixin,Kuai Xiang,Lu Xiang(sub-ordinate)

Nguyen An -CHief architect who designed mainly of forbbiden city beijing with 4 tower,palace,....all the most important.

Because Ming invaded Dai Yue(Vietnam) so Nguyen An and thousands Vietnamese talents was captured to China.

  • @BAIYUE1

well, I suppose you are reading Vietnamese written history books...

I believe Vietnam has talented people... but saying a vietnam trained and lead the Chinese workers and the project... is just insane...

Just think for a sec... there is no way, a Chinese emperor will authorize such action.

Its a palace, not just some buildings, home of the emperor...

Vietnamese might have been captured to work, but not because of talent, simply because its free

those days there ain't no human rights

  • @j6331

    Not only Vietnamese book.

I feel very funny when many Chinese in mainland was brainwashed that Nguyen An was captured to China when he is only boy.So fake!

Nguyen An is talent who served for Tran and Ho dynasty before to China.

  • @j6331

Nguyen An trained and lead Chinese worker,so you should read more.Believe it or not.But it is history.

Ming emperor let Nguyen An has all of power to help him built forbidden city Beijing.

  • the history books you are reading....

makes it sounds like Vietnam is providing help and support... and is a wonderful thing...

    and yet...

" thousands Vietnamese talents was captured" = Disarmed Enemy Forces... (free labour)

"one of the leading Chief Architects.... becomes the only"

  • @j6331

Not only Nguyen An,many Vietnamese talent is also famous in CHina after was captured

As Ho Nguyen Trung who teach Chinese make cannon.

  • i have this on DVD

  • Dude, Rod Steiger's voice gets better with age.

    Just listen to him! :U

  • Wow looks at all these ignorant comments. The term Chinese History, in the modern sense, is the history of the "central land", complied by the modern scholars from multiple sources. If you're so proud of being Han, seek for your own indepenence, ahahaha, just like Tibet and Xinjiang. I'd love to you being beat up by your own government! hahaha

  • The mongols were no better than the Manchus to the han Chinese. They decimated half of our population. It's just that the mongols didn't rule for long to leave their own oppressive mark

  • 这个也是明朝的宫殿 为什么老是放清朝鞑子的视频!???

  • @qq328887795

    外国人分不清汉人和清朝鞑子

  • A lot of people use the excuse that the Manchu, the people who ruled China in the Qing Dynasty..was not Chinese. But the Mongols ruled China in the Mongol Dynasty, and no one says anything about that. It's just that the worst acts against China was done during the Manchu reign. So,naturally..people Chinese or not..would want to distance the Qing or Manchu from China generally.

  • how conversation practiced in forbidden city?:)) wanna know..

  • how did the Qing take over? i was there in china and that palance is beautiful

  • Qing Dynasty were control by Manchu people, instead of the Han,which are the majority of the Chinese population.

  • the Qing ook over the Ming dynasty since the period of which Ming was in corruption and peasants revolt. The Qing took this advantage and took over.

  • by war.... it's always the war... repeating history!

  • I want to visit THE FORBIDDEN CITY because it's really amazing and the achitecture of the palace is extremely great. I want to see the Emperor Throne and the different figures and statues inside the Imperial Palace. I want to know how enormous the palace is. The Forbidden City is one of the beautiful imperial palace in the world.

  • i went to china! ive been to the forbidden city it was really great!

  • They were Manchu rulers, not Han Chinese. The Manchus made China into a completely backwards country which would later be raped by the whites and Japanese.

  • @acatisfinetoowut

    hahahaha

    you speak my mind

  • @acatisfinetoowut

Han people built forbidden beijing, but Vietnamese (Ruan An) designed it.

  • @BAIYUE1 aren't the vietnamese originaly a chinese people?

  • @TZAVELENA

Yes,Vietnamese is descendant of Yue people, who lived in south china and north Vietnam in past(from more 4000 years ago to early BC,I say 4000 years because it was written in history).

In early BC,Quin dynasty invaded south yangzi river land .

And many Yue now was assimilated by Han,Tang,Song,Yuan,Quing dynasty.and most of south yangzi river land now is south china.

But Vietnam don't accept it and still fight to gain independent as now.

  • @BAIYUE1 thanks.

  • @BAIYUE1 Partially true, Vietnamese Ruan An was 1 of the 6 major designers for forbidden city and his main achievement were the towers at the 4 corners of the forbidden city and hydraulic systems.

  • @acatisfinetoowut

China turned inward starting in the 15th + 16th century under the Ming Dynasty (Han), falling behind the West, closing its borders and its mind. The Manchus aware of their precarious position kept up that isolationism. Thinking of itself as superior and not needing the knowledge of others is what kept China behind. China has clearly learned that lesson, one of the reasons why it is doing so well today. Blaming the Manchus alone seems simplistic.

  • @acatisfinetoowut Wrong, Manchu had no idea how to run a huge country so they completely followed the system of Han Chinese Ming Dynasty, which was backward after the 2nd emperor Yongle

  • @acatisfinetoowut

The Qing being Manchurian is not a scret. It is common knowledge.

The Qing making China into a backwards society is debatable. You would need to show evidence for that.

I would say that much of China is a backwards society TODAY.

The westerners (especially the British, but also Germans, French, Dutch, Portuguese, etc.) did pillage China and try to divide it up (but rape? evidence?).

The Japanese did rape and pillage.

  • @acatisfinetoowut I have to disagree here. The first two Manchu emperors could have been described as trying to clear up the mess in the aftermath of the Ming dynasty's downfall (its decline had already begun by the Wanli Emperor's reign) But it was the third ruler, the Kangxi Emperor who ushered in China's last greatest era before the dissolution of the monarchy in 1911. Under him, literary works such as the History of Ming & the Kangxi Dictionary, among other things [cont'd]

  • @zydarking [cont'd] were compiled. Hell, he could even lessen the tax burden on the people as a whole! It was not until the reign of his grandson the Qianlong Emperor that the period of decline began for China as a whole, and this occurred much later into his rule. Essentially, I'm not justifying the Qing dynasty. But I do think it inaccurate to declare that the Qing dynasty brought about no peace & advancement during its period of existence. More deplorably however is the mentality of [cont'd]

  • @zydarking [cont'd] the ethnic Han majority. Our ancestors were a proud people, and did not take kindly to being defeated & then subjugated by outsiders. Just as it was with the Mongols under Genghis, so to would it be with the people of Nurhaci. But rather than to at least work in concert with them to build a better future, we rebelled to the bitter end (an irony given our Confucian values) It was unacceptable to be compelled by non-Hans but perfectly alright to disdain & even enthrall [cont'd]

  • @zydarking [cont'd] those whom we called barbarians. If we can do it, what's to say they can't do it as well? To quote Deng Xiaoping, I don't care if it's a white cat or a black cat. It's a good cat as long as it catches mice.

    Just my two cents.

  • @zydarking

As John Fairbank observed, the Chinese showed no signs of a feeling of cultural inferiority. Political subjugation may have been feared, but cultural conquest was unimaginable. Thus Chinese xenophobia was combined with a complete confidence in cultural superiority. China reacted not as a cultural subunit, but as a large ethnocentric universe which remained quite sure of it's cultural superiority even when relatively inferior in military power to fringe elements of it's universe.

  • @Phead128 Certainly this was the case. I should think that contemporary China would have little or no cultural superiority left. Not after what it went through in the 20th century. Not to say that it doesn't exist anymore, rather not on the level it did in the centuries before. Anyone who still harbors such sentiments has TMK wisely kept quiet about it. Still, the whole phenomenon of China's cultural superiority deserves a closer examination. Best to be as objective as possible.

  • @acatisfinetoowut you should know that Manchu people are still part of Chinese and Chinese civilization just like Mongolians. go back and do some work with your hw man!

  • @TianyanGang

CHinese civilization rob so much from Bai Yue civilization!

  • @BAIYUE1 Bai Yue is not really one civilization... get your facts straight

Bai Yue is a general name a whole bunch of tribes in now Southern China. (South of Han Dynasty)

Yes, Vietnam is one of them, but so as Southern Chinese, Thailand, Burma, etc

The majority of Bai Yue tribes descent are Southern Chinese.

Vietnam did not get assimilated into Han, but the majority of the Bai Yue Tribes did.

In a sense, Vietnam is the minority here... within the BaiYue Tribes

  • @j6331

Bai Yue is family of Yues as MinYue,Luo Yue,Ou Yue,..and they have all great culture, great social ,to make great civilization of Bai Yue.

In a past,Han dynasty invaded Bai Yue and learn many thing from Bai yue people as Paper,I-ching,Sailing techonology,...many many. And Han chinese lies that Bai Yue is uncivilized. So fake and so shame Han Chinese

Now Southern CHinese most is Han,only ZHuang or Li,.is our brother who has Luo Yue origin.

  • @BAIYUE1

==.==" ... I have no idea where you get these information....

Han Chinese, is not really a ethic group...

Han started out very small... all southern part of nowadays China was not part Han, but Bai Yue people.

So, as I said, Southern Chinese are BAIYUE people.

I am from Hong Kong, and I speak Cantonese, Canton/Guangdong, was part of the Bai yue.

the word Cantonese language in Cantonese = yue

the word yue in vietnam is equivalent to yue. (in terms of language)

    look it up.

  • @j6331

Actually, I know about Chinese history

Do you know that "Bai Yue is different from Han chinese,or CHinese in yellow"

Bai Yue has great civilization before Han chinese invaded them fom 2000 years ago.

Han chinese in past is enemy of Bai Yue.

Now Southern Chinese become Han,so they are not Bai Yue.

Only ZHuangzu,Vietnamese,Li,...is descendant of Bai Yue people.

  • @j6331

Han chinese now is ethnic, and one ethnic has only 1 language.

  • @BAIYUE1 it depends on you define language

There are different spoken dialog in different provinces.

There are different traditions in different provinces.

Local Chinese people in China don't speak Mandarin to each other.

Mandarin is like a common spoken language so people from different provinces can communicate.

  • @j6331

No,you wrong. Now has 850 millions chinese speak Mandarin as mother language

  • @BAIYUE1

I do not want to continue this argument

this would be my last reply

Who do you speak for? As if you know more than any other Chinese I know Mandarin too, but I speak Cantonese in Hong Kong.

I know more from other provinces in China, none of them uses Mandarin when they are communicating with one whom came from the same province.

850 millions, may not be correct, since almost every single educated Chinese "knows how" to speak Mandarin. That does not mean we use it in our daily life.

  • @j6331

Vietnam is not minority, not small. We have 100 millions people and We-Vietnamese is hero descendant of Great Bai Yue

  • @acatisfinetoowut But Manchu have become Chinese.

  • In those ancient time, too much corrupt official.

If you are too clever you die quick or if you dont join the corrupt official group, you die even quicker.

Such a sad time, not much money into the army and navy. All the damn money go to the Official.

So at the end CHINA got owned by the european,American,Japan, etc.

  • i'm chinese, i need to go there soon.

  • I would love to go there one day

  • Well you know, the forbidden city, during the Qing dynasty, was never really used as a place for the Imperial Family to reside in after the building of the Yuan Ming Garden. The emperor only moved back in after that beautiful garden was destroyed... Along with the many treasure of china and it's pride.
