Seems more like blade strike due to a gust of wind. The 9053 is notorious for having upper blades hit the flybar when wind strikes. The stock flybar is too long.
I like my 9053 alot. Its an awesome starter large heli for cheap. Very easy to fly also ... Just need room and not much wind. Add weight to front of heli for outside flight or it will get carried away and stuck in tree like mine. 3 bad crashes and its still flying awesome. parts are cheap and easy to fix ... Fun to modify.
@mrnoahdude get you a 450 clone going for about $100 on ebay and has 6 channels. It is 3d capable and has programable remote just read up on setup and programming and you will be pleased with it. Coaxials are cool but a good amount of skill is required to fly collective rc helis
If you re-route the heli's antenna cable, so it goes out to the tail fin and back to the skids, you may get better signal range. One of my other models does this free fall thing, but it recovers, just before impact.
It would be cool if it would give you some warning though.
This was fun to watch,Thx for sharing...I hope by now you got smart & bought a real heli like a "Blade" 120SR or something that can climb to heights 5 times of your Volitation...only thing is real RC helis usually are'nt so forgiving in those type of crashes..good luck
@bluedog11563 Looking from the time stamp in the video it looks like a #6 or #10 808 camera. Google "chucklohr 808" for more info.
There are different versions of this camera, the #11 camera being the latest which records 720p video and can be bought on ebay for about 40 dollars. The other versions of the camera are lower quality and you can probably find them on ebay and around other places on the internet like Amazon for (usually) cheaper.
Idk alot about these things but if T-rex heli's have gyros in them... I'm buyin. I have one of these and it's not the best honest to say. It's not very attractive either. having something that's really fast, powerful, and flexible is what you need.
The 9053 really is a piece of utter Chinese crap, but, like you I bought one before the word got round, so I may as well mod it and just use it as a toy, so if it helps, I suffered the same loss of power that you did in this vid and it turned out that the plastic battery holder was holding the batteries too tightly and not letting the springs push the batteries hard against the contacts. Now, when I load new batteries, I use a screwdriver to press the batteries hard against the contacts. Sorted.

it free fell....lost signal....dropped...no control....nowhere in this video was an attempt at landing. If this heli had some decent components in it this video wouldn't even exist. Only a true dipshit cannot land a 3 channel heli
@vinto34 You're 100% correct. This same thing happened to me yesterday. Do a youtube search on modifications to this helicopter. There is a good fix that solves the problems with this thing.
you cant just fly it out of the box. you have to tune it and adjust it, These are mass marketed. they just slap em together. Mine works great now that i tweaked it

Just got one and barely nicked a wall and fn blade broke off at the shaft.First flight didnt get 1 ft off the ground.got it new in the box for 60 bucks.Gonna get one more and use this one for spare parts.If it breaks again trash here they both come.I mean it didnt hit the wall hard at all.I have a black shark that has taken a few hits and still going strong.WTF with this volitation?Was out of control from the first hit..
@cbtlr I'm not happy with mine at all...mine is actually sitting in the closet at the moment. I had another 'free fall' for no apparent reason from about 10 feet high...landed in the grass....now since then it wont get any higher than about 2 feet. I might have a bad seed though, best of luck with yours! Post some videos!

Hey moron32, cool video! I've always wondered about attaching an onboard cam to these things hehe. Anyway my rc heli used to do the same, I bought a cheap one from a shopping centre overseas, real fun...but sometimes the signal would also cut and it would free fall. Probably didn't help that I also broke part of the antenna! If I was lucky, I could catch it before it hit the ground...but not always! I eventually ended up breaking the rear rotor + gear, snapped right out of its housing! :(
By the way, how much did you pay for your volitation 9053 if you don't mind telling me? I was considering buying one. I'm a bit apprehensive now since you say it suffers the same "signal cut" problem as my old one did lol...it looks better quality than mine, so I was under the impression it would not do that!! :p
@moron32 Thanks man. I ended up purchasing one in the end, along with the mini 9098. The weather is pretty bad here so haven't had the opportunity to fly it outside yet, but I've already managed to bend the flybar twice on 'test' runs in my basement gym. I just bend it back in place rather easily though. The micro 9098 has seen much more flight time since I can fly it whenever I want, as it's an indoor heli. This will probably be my last 3ch before I move on...looks great I gotta say!

i know the volitation can take a beating, today i tried to fly it outdoors, the wind was very strong, it fell a couple times, and still flyes :D only the shaft was a little bit bended, but thats easy to fix, its a great heli for the price.
now the airplane i tried to fly today its another story :S i broke 3 propellers... won´t ever fly with this wind again
@mistg40 This crash was actually one of about 3 or 4 during this session....2 of which landed right onto the street :) It took every single crash and kept flying until the last one....thats when the fly bar (balance bar) finally snapped. A new balance bar costs about 6 bucks :)

I bought the 42" on ebay. The thing is absolutely UNFLYABLE!!! The blades constantly strike each other causing it to crash.
I think I'll stick to my trex.
