I would like to find an episode from Entertainment Tonight from the Oscars in 1982..especially from Wolfgang Puck's after party. I was the date of Bud Cort.. anyone know how to find it?
I'm 43 and I TOTALLY remember this, I used to watch it every evening, and in fact would record the theme music onto cassette tapes (I still have a few) because I liked it so much. Even now I sometimes whistle this song, it made such an impression on me. I haven't seen this show in years although I know it''s still on. Good technical quality.
to continue... Entertainment Tonight was of course created to be a platform for the publicists... just not the same as show, but then, the world is not the same....sad..
At the 0:22 mark, the Paramount Pictures Bronson Gate is displayed. Paramount TV (a Paramount Pictures subsidiary) was the original packager of "ET" until it amalgamated with CBS in 2006, then CBS phased out the Paramount name the following year.
@irish89055 just like I said, ET changed the format to compete with E!, Access Hollywood, Extra, etc. But they still show old ET segments on Weekends involving lives of legendary celebs like Bill Bixby, Bob Hope, etc.
@ 0:25 Apparently, those were the biggest stars around in 1982. I don't recognize any except Erik Estrada and Robby Benson. Unless the blond guy at 0:28 is Larry Bird.
@pooka5472 I'm sorry to say if she got fired or she left, it would go even more downhill after that. The only way to get better ratings would be Linda's way or no way at all. The show was losing steam when it adopted the original format and ratings fell, so she had to do it or Mary Hart would lose her job and cancellation would be imminent.
@nx01alpha I don't think it's gone down hill I feel like our society has. It's not their fault that crappy tabloid shit is what the majority of society wants to hear about. They're just trying to keep their jobs and up with the times.
Thumbs up if John Williams and the ochestra riding a bike brought you here

Entertainment Tonight: Mooching off the popularity of others for over 30 years, just like Ray William Johnson does on YouTube.

I loved Dixie Whatley. She was so much better than Mary Hart.

ET should do an old school special with old school intro, graphics, set, etc.

@mrceleb2006 Paramount Television also packaged "Solid Gold", which, like "Entertainment Tonight", was also created by Al Masini.

I stopped watching this program when it dropped its entertainment news focus and transitioned to being a celebrity gossip, tabloid-style show.

@VintageTelevision yes, a shame that everything on now is run or placed by the PR firms...
irish89055 1 year ago
@irish89055 they changed the format to compete with E! News. That's how the business works.

If my calculations are correct, I believe this was a few weeks or so before a certain someone became the new female co-host.
